I have played the PS1 version alongside the PC version and I have to say that the Saturn version is crap, the PS1 had the issue with loading but the music in this version is awful, it sounds like a horribly composed midi, at least the PC version retained the PC's CD Soundtrack

Sadly I've never player the first 3 on PC. I've got number 2 on PSone, but never got round to playing it much. I very much enjoyed Alone in the Dark - The New Nightmare, but I thought Alone in the Dark 5 was bloody awful.

The only technical issue I had with this game was the combat. I'm sure you know this as well, but you can easily get stuck in a pattern. The amount of time that Carnby takes to recover from a shot is equal, respectively, to the amount it takes for the enemy to reload and take another shot. AitD1 suffered from this but it wasn't even nearly as bad because the zombies didn't have guns.

I thought the game was fun, but I totally understand the frustration.

Honestly speaking the PC version wasn't even a good game. Frankly, every Alone in the Dark after 1 just missed the whole point of the first game. They all got too action oriented. The latest one is worst of them all cause it incorporated elements from the horrid 2005 movie.

I think the newest game would have worked better under a separate title independent of AitD. Personally, I thought New York city, and specifically Central Park, was an odd if not inappropriate setting for a survival horror game. Besides, I miss the 1920's setting.

The old Alone in the Dark games were meant this way. You moan of aspects people saw fine in the early 90s, since they got press acclaim and successful sales. These are the reasons why these Alone in the Dark games are now not usually played by people who didn't already play them back in the day.

The PC version was amazing! I havent played the Saturn version. Alone in the Dark was an amazing series excluding The New Nightmare. I used to play it all the time when I was a kid. It's a freakin amazing classic in my book.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'm just voicing mine.

i had this game for the Saturn and i know it sucked but after playing it over and over i escaped from the garden and i managed to get into the house at one point but then i couldn't figure out what to do.

seeing as the new version of the game is coming out tomorrow. they could have done something with this, like redone it or modified it. oh well.

Yeah I understand :) The frame rate and pauses were really bad. The only highlight about it is the faces are rendered better than in alone in the dark 2. Other than that, the game looks unplayable.

Even the name One Eyed Jack's Revenge doesn't make sense since Alone In the Dark 1 has nothing to do with one eyed jack lol.

It's not One Eyed Jack's Revenge because of Alone in the Dark 1. It is because of the backstory of the own One Eyed Jack, explained during the game. You can pretty much say the same of the European game title because that was "Jack is Back" and neither was a return of Jack from Alone in the Dark 1, but from his early age when he was actually an alive person.

This port looks bad. I remember playing this game long ago. The original game is actually very good. Check out POLE7645's videos on it.

You need to punch or shoot the first guy to steal his tommy gun. I'm not sure if you're just a really bad gamer or trying to make an arrogant statement about why you hate the game. It's not a pure action game. You need to analyze and find a way to face those guy instead of jumping into the action.

You have to box the zombie at the gate and get his maschine Gun. AITD 1 was the 1st horror Game which Resident evil has been influenced by it. Release was 1992 on PC and 3DO. Another user has Vids of AITD games his nick is POLE7645 [walkthroughs]. You have to take the fact that this game is old and the grafiks can`t match with todays games. It is like comparing atari games with Genesis/Mega Drive Games. Release 1994/1995 some 13 years ago. Still thx for the vid.

i can live with primitive graphics... what i cant live with is unresponsive controls and 5 second pauses between screens, that coupled with an extremely inconsistant frameratebthats sputters to a near halt.

Yeah i know i have seen a couple of vids this is indeed really bad. I wonder why they didn`t make an enhanced version of the original game and ported a better version for the saturn. But then again i am also not a fan of AITD at all i only played AITD: The new nightmares and that was only decent. as said the original games come from a time where they used to be the first 3d Adv. games in todays standard they are obviously no match at all. the first RE Game for PSx is the same thou i guess.
