The power to tax is the power to destroy. Taxing bonuses allows Dodd and Congress to abuse the contract THEY wrote and use the tax code to do it.
Dodd, the Fed and certain key members of Congress should be dragged out of their offices kicking and screaming... and hung from lamp posts... metaphorically speaking, of course ;).
Dodd has once again emerged as one of the most prolific political whores and liars the American Senate has ever produced.
The Dems write a bill with language specifically protecting AIG bonuses. Republicans discussions end with Obama saying: "We Won"
Bill pushed thru congress, only 3 republicans vote yes.
Don't they read the bill before voting & signing it into law & Pissing Billions of Tax dollars away? Isn't it important enough to READ & UNDERSTAND IT?
Now Obama & the DEMs can say:
I voted FOR the AIG bonuses before I voted AGAINST them.
And Senator Dodd has just admitted on CNN to putting a loop hole in the bailout legislation to allow the bonuses for the big execs!
The low-down, dirty villain, deliberately screwing the people. And now as might be expected he's trying to "pass around" some of the blame and responsibility.
I've been a democrat all my life! But this time I've had it! I'm through with the bums in the democratic party, forever!
Frankly, Ron Paul is looking better and better all the time!
The big picture ppl is where did the BILLIONS that was given to AIG go? Most went to FOREIGN BANKS in England, Germany & France. WE'RE TALKING ABOUT MILLIONS COMPARED TO THE BILLIONS that have been bilked from the TAXPAYERS. You don't hear the Senators talking about that tho instead concentrating on millions in bonuses. Corruption from all sides & we have no idea how bad it really is
Obama was the other recipient who got the most donations from wall street...has nothing to do with DEMS or REPS, they are all in bed with wall street..Greed over principles
While the Senate constructed the $787 billion stimulus last month, Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) unexpectedly added an executive-compensation restriction to the bill. That amendment provides an exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009, which exempts the very AIG bonuses Dodd and others are seeking to tax. The amendment is in the final version and is law. Also, Sen. Dodd was AIGs largest single recipient of campaign donations during the 2008 with $103,100
Chris Dodd is so dishonest. He is responsible for the huge bonuses that the AIG Executives are receiving. He grandfathered AIG bonuses in the "bailout bill" after he received more money for his campaign from AIG than any other politician.
This is just one example of how Chris Dodd has done unethical things in the Senate. I would hope that someone would begin an investigation into Chris Dodd's wrong doing.
