    BHAI MARDANA YAD AA GAYA

  • A lot of Sikh history is left behind in what is Modern Day Pakistan. The rabab holds a very important part in Sikh history. The Sikhs sing hymns (Shabad Kertan) using musical instruments and the Rabab was one of the first instruments used. The Punjabis should start the revival of these 'Tanti Saaz' (classical instruments) and start teaching them to their kids.

  • For people who don't know there is two types of rabab, one is afghan rabab which is smaller and a seni rabab which is bigger and deeper in sound. The rabab is said to originate in Afghanistan and over time had spread to India. Baba mardana was a Muslim rababi that was the first disciple of the 1st Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji. Guruji loved the sound of rabab and sang along the rabab while mardana played. The rabab is the original taanti saaj of Sikh Gurbani Kirtan Gurmat Sangeet. Guru Na

  • What a strange Rubab. What is this Rubab? It's not Afghan.

  • Mashallah! This is absolutely... and I mean it. Absolutely amazing. I love the conviction in the Sardarjee's eyes. Bah Bah.

  • the rabab is an instrument that although may have its origins in afghanistan, was played by Guru Nanak Dev ji, first Guru of the Sikhs. In fact, his rababi was Bhai Mardana - a Musulman.

  • i am a pakhtoon and i am honoured by sardarjee 's respect to the rabab

  • Thank you for respect and love to tradition of Phakhtoon and rabab

    thanks

  • pakhtoon or afghanistan? cuz both means same...

  • The Rebab is the predecessor of the modern Violin.

  • wow sardar jee i am pashtoon but well done

  • @ziasattar Guru Nanak Dev Ji's companion, a Muslim rababi named Bhai Mardana, incorporated the rabab into Sikh classical music. Sikhs have great respect for him; he has a salok in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He accompanied Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his journies, and it's believed that he died in Baghdad.

  • sike it belongs to da afgans bitch afg pride

  • Bhai Mardana ji ( Disiciple of First Guru Sahib ) used to play Rabab .

  • First of all... How does music belong to any one group. Second of all, Guru Nanak, originator of the Sikh faith, played the Rabab.

  • stealing instruments? what type of argument is this?

Now you will put a restriction on who will play what instrument and who not..lolz..

  • Indeed. And you should see me (try to) play viola- an almost strictly western classical instrument! I don't have a shoulder rest yet, so I have to sit cross-legged resting the scroll on my foot like an Indian violinist. That's actually not that weird...until you see me play OVERHAND (not even holding onto the thing)! BUt when all is said and done.....I suck at viola.
