Not knowing what your footage is like it's difficult to say... in this case the original source was very dim, and had a lot of noise. The trick was to pump up the gamma ( the mid tones) while preserving the blacks (and thus not amplifying the noise). If you want to share a short sample clip with me I'd be happy to evaluate it and offer some advice.

wow. I was at Elkmont last summer and am just editing my footage, how difference did you think the colour corrector make, any tips on adjustments ? Havent sent it for correction yet.

Wow, that is so amazing. If anyone's interested, I know there's this book called "Sync" by Steven Strogatz, which is about how order emerges in things. I haven't read much of it at all, but it opens with him talking about how literally millions of fireflies in places will flash in sync. At any rate, great video.
