If you reduce the graphics settings in any game, it can help reduce a lot of CPU usage, but lowering the in-game resolution will reduce it even further. Gonna have to decide if you want your game to be lower-quality or have it freeze all the time ;)

If there is a problem with a crash or some sort.Try Ccleaner it has a registry cleaner built in (if that wont work there is an alternative the best program to repair windows xp is XPrepairPro get that),then get the defragger,and get some free antivirus like avast to delete all unnecessary errors or viruses after that get all the updates to your system and stay updated,and youl system will run smooth and fast in any case :D
Nope downloaded Reg.Cure seemed ok to begin as if it had worked, but nope back to freezing ALL THE TIME about 20x today . ... it sometimes boots up sometimes won't - there are no signs of CPU drains in task master menu. .

I installed WoW, then my computer started skipping. It skips when I watch Youtube or any kind of videos. It skips when I play games now. It's like my whole PC just fucking skips on everything now. I even uninstalled WoW, but it still does it!

I got a Phenom II x4 brand new i just installed which freezes even in the BIOS when there is no actual load. What do you think is causing my problem? if you want to make your computer less laggy, i suggest don't download any stuff with a download of 5GB + if you have a good hard drive, than thats okay.

this is complete bullshit, all you achieved was showing how to open msconfig and task manager... and advertise a shitty program, people dont use this software..even if its free. most likely spyware ect.
CCleaner and Glary Utilities clean your registry for free. WinPatrol will, among other things, let you delay startup items. If you have too many programmes loading at startup, the system tray can time out before the networking or volume icons load. It's free,too.
While cleaning the registry may not speed things up much, it can eliminate entries from programmes that did not uninstall properly and are now conflicting with programmes that you now have running.

try runing "msconfig" go to start run type in "msconfig" hit okay. than too be sure of what i'm saying go to google and look for what computer you have than type in what you don't need for your computer. it will help alot! if you run like aim world of war craft runescape youtube gears of war for pc helps with lags good luck.

if i do system restore on safe mode it doesnt happen in normal mode mate and i cant open system restore on normal mode it doesnt let me do anything on normal mode i log in and there u go its normal desktop and everything but i cant use anything or do anything what shall i do mate

Hi. I have a problem with two of the folders on my computer. Every time I try to scroll through my music and my pictures folders they freeze and stop responding. I have tried to move them to other areas and deleting the original, i've scanned the folders and antivirus detected no problem, i've even cleaned up temporary internet files and ran check disk and still the problem persists. Please help me.

@TodorSRB same here. I use MAMEUIFX32, and it freezes up whenever the virus scan shit start up. I even go back to the desktop (before it starts) to change the time. 12:13 AM is when it usually starts. I'm typing this through my Wii.

yeah dude i had the same problem. all you have to do is update itunes trust me it works i can sync my ipod in less than a minute now b/c i updated. b4 it would take hours for me to get it to sync it was BS cause it was always irresponsive but update itunes then it'll work.

hI I recently bought a new hard drive (160GB/ 5400 rpm), and installed win xp pro (geniune)
it has 512MB of ram but everytime i try do browsing on certain web pages i get a IRQL_DRIVER_NOT something, and very occasionly my computer will just freeze and then i have to reboot witch is kinda annoying, also it tends to freeze but still let the mouse mouse move every 2 seconds, do you have any ideas ( anything would help really) :)

lag and freeze because of the stuff that you download, go on (in the internet), etc.
if you want to make your computer less laggy, i suggest don't download any stuff with a download of 5GB + if you have a good hard drive, than thats okay.
but if you have a 100GB or less hard drive than don't down load stuff like that.
i use AVG and Spybot Search and Destroy. it cleans your computer and i suggest that you use it.

While cleaning the registry may not speed things up much, it can eliminate entries from programmes that did not uninstall properly and are now conflicting with programmes that you now have running.

You may have programmes/services conflicting with each other because some other programme didn't uninstall properly. Have you tried System Restore? (Not to be confused with System Recovery, which will wipe out your data and third party programmes).

Hard to say without more info. First suggestion, run full scans with virus and spyware removal programmes. If you have none, there are sites online that will scan for free, some will even remove for free. Next, find out how many programmes/processes are running at startup. Different versions of Windows have different ways of managing startup programmes. Third party utilities usually offer more control. Free ones are Winpatrol, CCleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy. After that, it gets more technical

Microsoft bought out a company called Sysinternals, which has produced some excellent utilities and diagnostic programmes which are now free from MS. Autoruns will give you control over startups.Also check out vnu download junki and giveawayoftheday for more free softwareand forums. TechRepublic has lots of free white papers.

try runing "msconfig" go to start run type in "msconfig" hit okay. than too be sure of what i'm saying go to google and look for what computer you have than type in what you don't need for your computer. it will help alot! if you run like aim world of war craft runescape youtube gears of war for pc helps with lags good luck.

its not bad to have 100% cpu usage i got a server for some people i host and there 100% 24/7 but just keep them cool ok they can get hot i mean 100% 24/7 dosent require any water cooling it just needs some very fast fans to cool it off thats it otherwise... comp works perfect no prob but if yo comp freezes you need more ram more powerful cpu or just you have too much PROGRAMS ON YOUR COMPUTER!!!!! duh cause if there runing it takes up space and slows pc down...
