  • He was truly an exceptional legend. RIP. His whole life was based on sincerity. I dont think he was racist considering the race he criticised was his own. But was being honest on what he noticed was obvious about Israeli people. Abit like a white/black/Asian/Latino man criticising his own race. He criticised the American government but he was being only truthful on what he saw. He criticised the Russians for cheating, chess conditions, Japanese Government. But they were all valid criticisms.

  • What a great guy. It's a shame what they did to him.

  • @MegaGunrise what did they do to him?

  • @Melancolia793 they kidnapped him and threw him in a Japanese prison for playing chess and then had the gall to call him paranoid.

  • He was- what we'd call in England - a well tasty geezer. Different too.

  • Am glad this arrogant fagot died

  • @bcroger2 I'm sorry, but kindly go fuck yourself.

  • is it me or Bobby and Nicholas Cage talk the same way?

  • @darcon81 they look very similar too lol

  • something was not right with that guy.

  • I've never heard this guy say more than 5 words without stuttering.. he literally seems to have no recollection of dates or specifics in his interviews, and he refused to disclose his IQ test results to the public. It's more than unlikely he was a genius, but I do think he's a great inspiration for what the common man can accomplish with enough dedication.

  • @iHAVE1j His IQ was disclosed, it's 187. He's in the top percentile along with people like Ed Witten. I think he could have used his intelligence in a much better way. He wasted it all on chess.

  • @netminderxp

That's actually untrue. Psychologists have estimated his IQ to be in the 160 to 180 range but he never officially disclosed his test score to the public or even mentioned it in an interview. He even criticized another chess player for disclosing his IQ, saying that it revealed too much to his opponents. All psychologists have to go by are anecdotes and his chess skills (solely spatial intelligence). His central philosophies were antisemitism and chauvinism. I doubt he's 130+

  • @iHAVE1j

"chess skills (solely spatial intelligence). His central philosophies were antisemitism and chauvinism. I doubt he's 130+"

and for saying both those stupid things you either dont have a clue what you're talking about and/or have an IQ of 85 yourself :)

  • @joyfulvulture

Okay, and it's intelligent of you to rebut an argument with quotes and irrelevant speculation?

Just because someone is gifted in one area doesn't mean they are gifted in all areas of intelligence. Fischer loved to boast but never disclosed his official IQ score to anyone, nor did he complete high school or have any other notable achievements than mastery of a single game (other than being notably radical and chauvinistic)..

  • Identical twins were once born with the ability to instantly calculate prime number in the 4 digit range without being able to explain how. In all other facets of intellect they were normal. It's more than possible Fischer was born with extraordinary spacial intelligence alone, making him a savant.

  • @iHAVE1j

you need more than spatial intelligence to be good at chess you fucking moron, like memory, logic, creativity and vigilance.

and values or political views dont have shit to do with IQ.

  • @joyfulvulture

lol. If you'd like I can link you to a video of a child with a 170+ IQ who was beaten terribly and ranked 67th in a chess tournament after years of practice. The odds of him facing off with anyone at his IQ range are almost zilch, but he was beaten by opponents even younger than him.

And I can link you to sites explaining how chess savants can memorize positions perfectly but generally have normal memories. Spacial intelligence is multifaceted.

  • @iHAVE1j

"If you'd like I can link you to a video of a child with a 170+ IQ who was beaten terribly and ranked 67th in a chess tournament after years of practice"

please do, and do you even know what IQ tests measure? they dont even measure three of the things i mentioned as requirements for being good at chess: long term memory, creativity and vigilance. they do measure spatial intelligence though. all those facts make your rationale silly.

  • @joyfulvulture

    Here's the vid: watch?v=t8e1js5WKyo&feature=related

And I'm pretty sure vigilance is a quality equally shared by intelligent and unintelligent people, not a measure of intelligence itself. The Russian tale is anecdotal, and his proficiency with the language can't be confirmed, which is exactly what I said at the beginning: the only thing that can be confirmed is his mastery of a single game, which officially makes him a savant, not a genius.

  • @iHAVE1j

lol dude... the intro to this documentary mentions he's england's under 12 chess champion... wow he really sucks at chess. some russian coach also explained his poor international performance by a lack of preparation, which has nothing to do with IQ or talent. as fischer said himself: "a lot of the top players arent that talented, they just work like dogs".

  • in the end, you seem confused regarding the aptitudes required to be good at chess and the aptitudes measured by intelligence tests. you also seem to think a person can be extremely gifted in one area and so bad at the others that his intelligence ends up being average or barely above average. research shows thats not the general tendency at all, and considering that, its a ridiculous and very far-fetched conclusion to think fischer's IQ isnt 130+ because he's a weirdo.

    btw, are u jewish?

  • @joyfulvulture

All I'm saying is I'm generally not impressed by anything fischer has said or done outside of chess. Shouting and cursing belligerent, delusional rants on public radio about Jews and Americans like a 12 year old should bring up serious doubts about his general intellect for anyone.

Finally, I'll tell you I'm definitely not confused about what IQ tests measure in the least. Spatial intelligence factors greatly in spatial memory. .

  • @iHAVE1j

"Shouting and cursing belligerent, delusional rants on public radio about Jews and Americans like a 12 year old should bring up serious doubts about his general intellect for anyone"

he was very paranoid, no doubt. thing is, paranoid delusions have nothing to do with intelligence, you ignorant fool. go read a psychology book already, anyone who has is just laughing at you right now.

  • @iHAVE1j

"I'll tell you I'm definitely not confused about what IQ tests measure in the least. Spatial intelligence factors greatly in spatial memory"

but you think, like an ignorant moron, that ranting on public radio, being antisemitic or being paranoid actually has something to do with intelligence. tell me which subscale of the WAIS (google it) measures those things. thats right you cant, idiot.

his EQ was probably very average, dont confuse it with IQ.

  • @joyfulvulture

And unless someone can produce some evidence of him being gifted in anything other than chess that isn't anecdotal or impossible to confirm, I'll always believe him to be a miserable guy with great spatial intelligence and perhaps a terrible case of OCD. All the public information I've read or seen about him is indicative of it. If I were Jewish, it'd be irrelevant to this argument. Nice talking to you. ; )

  • @iHAVE1j

"terrible case of OCD. All the public information I've read or seen about him is indicative of it"

but isnt that anecdotal? hahaha you're just a moron with a grudge against fischer for some reason (jewish?). your twisted logic and ignorance are getting pretty apparent.

and take it from a grad. psychology student, fischer doesnt have OCD. you proved once again you dont have a freaking clue what you're talking about. go get yourself an "ignorance is bliss" t-shirt.

  • @joyfulvulture

No, that's not anecdotal, that's observable. And arguing like a 12 year old with no rationale, and cursing and shouting for no reason is rarely observable in adults with high IQs. Listen to some of his radio rants.. shit, watch the republican debates, they aren't much different. People feigning true intelligence with OCD who are too overconfident develop social problems. Anyway, no offense, you seem like you can barely hold an argument together without crap speculation. Bye

  • @iHAVE1j

also, cognitive functions tend to go hand in hand. its rare that one person will be really gifted in one and suck at the others, though not impossible. thats from someone who, among other things, had a whole class on intelligence theories and evaluated the IQ of people (me).

fischer learned russian like it was nothing just to be able to read russian chess books... guess the verbal part of his intelligence wasnt so bad was it?

  • The man! The best in chess ever! RIP Bobby.

  • he hasn't been in the news since he replayed Spassky, where is he and what's he up to and how can I find out?

  • @uselessjoe he died

  • @uselessjoe If you seriously are unaware that he's already passed, some great references are the book End Game by Frank Brady and the documentary Bobby Fischer Against the World.

  • why did Bobby Fischer not have more women after him? He is the King women should have been dripping over him.

  • I probably would have been more rounded. But what can you do...

  • God = Bobby Fischer

  • Legend

  • He was cool, he seemed a bit odd though.

    hell of a chess player.

  • Is there any way to get this full interview? The actual park bench interview lasted much longer than 1:43.

    Thanks

  • rip bobby the great

  • When was this? '71, '72?

  • this guy is like some type of God.

  • I want the English subtitle in the interview.

I want to understand completely .

    Please!

  • he seems autistic or something.

  • @jokeistman He reportedly had asberger syndrome, which is a mild autistic form.

  • @Martvandelay He's a good man! a chessmaster! Grandmaster! he's right.. fuck jews and america ^^ both losers

  • @jokeistman he has Aspergers Syndrome. It's a spectrum of autism, however, it's the most highest functioning type of autism, and those who have it are usually near genius. I have aspergers as well, and I'm only 16.

  • Jason Repa why do all of your siblings have different last names?

  • Repa is a big COWARD who won't face anybody who stands up to him lolz.

  • Repa is a poster child for the mentally disturbed. He has so many mental issues that the sanitariums don't know what section to put him in lolz. Nobody likes Jason Repa. He even hates himself, and he turns that hate on others.

  • The person spamming these forums is an ugly loser named Jason Repa.

  • it is nice and easy to discredit bobby fischer on the internet fora.

he was and will always be the greatest chess player, like no one will ever be able to take away from Muhammad Ali his selfinvented credit, I am The Greatest of All Times

Also, people tend to ignore that the humam condition is not a single dimension. If one is not able to see the gentle and candid side of Bobby in his interviews, one is probably blind, seeing.

  • @lela04 yep, BF is obviously a gentle person, extremely sincere, almost childlike, no bullshit honesty. he doesn't kiss your ass and he doesn't try to bury you either. Unless hes playing you in chess. ;-) then he buries you.

  • William Bybel, the convicted child rapist who has been spamming YouTube for the last few months under names like "buttonlane" and "TomBarristerX", etc....primarily the chess-related threads, tried to get leniency for his crimes by claiming that he was a victim of molestation himself.

My personal position is that lowlife scumbags like William Bybel deserve no such leniency and should be put out of their misery. There is NO EXCUSE for harming a child, EVER!!

  • @imdagreatest4eva Despite the fact that you're afraid of your own shadow and too scared to leave the rooming house you live in, we do know a few things about you, William Bybel. For starters, we know you're a victim of anal rape which ocurred when you were living with your stepfather. We also know you're a chronic liar who jerks off to pictures of Bobby Fischer and tries to impress people by telling them that you met Fischer when we all know you didn't. You're not even a real chess player

  • @imdagreatest4eva

ATTENTION EVERYONE.......The guy who has been spamming all of the chess-related discussion threads of an obese loser from Pennsylvania named WILLIAM BYBEL who has failed at trying to become a good chess player and has also failed at every other aspect of life. He receives a disability check every month from the government.

He has no friends and no life whatsoever, so he spends his days harassing people on the internet, especially those who can play chess.

  • Bobby Fischer was the greatest chess player ever lived.

  • I'm Jonn's brother, so don't reply.

  • He was a perfect example of the brain when young, but I guess he was unable to fight off the affects of time, especially with his thoughts of staying fit being something that can destroy your mind with the size of his body.

  • Reminds me of Bob Dylan

  • I would have loved to get his take on the N.W.O and the now known 911 conspiracy.

  • @jackieevans.... Bobby was a perfect mark for any conspiracy. Thats the way his brain worked. And the more insane and asinine the theory, like the 911 bullshit, the more likely he would believe it. His brain was brilliant with chess but defective with anything else.

  • @teddysalad65 Exactly and well said.

  • I'm studying English.

    He speaks English.I know that,but I can't understand completely.

    I can only partly understand.

Please tell me all he is saying.

  • @Cocaineffect OK, I will send you the English translation in English.

  • @seka1986

    thanks.I wait your mail.

    Very thanks.

  • I wonder if the Pasadena incident actually happened?

  • 'well who were beating besides your sister' the interviewer doesn't have much respect for him by the sound of it

  • maybe honorary

  • big mouth just like ali , and look where both ended ... you gotta have humility to have a long successful ,healthy and respectable life. Take , Anand for example.

  • @xtrmsprts

Big mouth or not, he was a genius and people will remember this.

  • @UFOdisclosure1 people also remember a lot of other ugly things

  • "I'm not afraid of him. He's afraid of me."

  • i'm guessing peter jennings is the reporter?
