Oh I remember this. My cousin had this and Pole Position for his Atari 2600. Every time I visited him during family activities my brother and I were hooked on games like this.

gotta give props to activision.its games like enduro and other activision titles that stood out so brilliantly against mundane titles on the atari 2600. today with the advent with mw3, they are indeed a major player in the realm of video games.

One of the best atari games. Super gameplay, graphics and sounds! I love how when it gets dark you can see only the back lights of the cars :)

Very very similar to the Great American Cross-Country Road Race. Very very similar, with the different weather condition, scenery, etc. I had the road race on 65XE. Good old days! Spent entire days playing it.

_____Enduro Racer is a pretty grim game, if you think about it. The horizon looks like some kind of post-nuclear wasteland and what-not. When playing that thing as a kid, I used to think the guy in the car was at the risk of dying of radiation poisoning or some crap. He had to make it to some safe land or whatever before dying and what-not. Forget about all of those other idiots who were too slow to make it. You just had to make YOUR guy make it. Or so I believed.

dude.... i used to do the same thing with games. Not so much exactly what you said but with these old games there was so much room for you to imagine your own scenario on top of the gameplay. Early video games were like books. You really had room to imagine up your own world.

Man, I used to play this game when I was young. I love the sound, neat graphics and everything, but (scoff) it was tough for me to beat the game. I'm from the 80's and I call them "THE BEST BACK IN THE DAYS" games!

Because the ATARI 2600 didn't have a pause function, I had to play this game for hours to get a high score. I think Activision had a contest to see who could get the highest score. You could take a photo of your TV set and send it in. You could play this game forever.

That's cool! I have an Activision iron-on patch. It's for Grand Prix. I don't get sentimental about most things, but this patch is one of my most cherished possessions. I played that game EVERY DAY after school. I had a pattern memorized for the 4th level. Activision games were so much fun to play! They forced Atari to make better games. The guys in my neighborhood borrowed Activision games from each other.
