yeah I love the mandolin and am sure have seen fill in other bands on nbc. I'm trying to figure out the chords. Any ideas? Looks like an f or c or both

i just had the pleasure of seeing Loudon sing for the first time last saturday evening. what a treat. he did let us know that he was appearing on letterman and what he was going to sing instead of "motel blues". go see him if you get the chance. loudon is amazing!
my vcr screwed up so i'm happy to see this on the tube.

This song is from his first album and is called "School Daze." It ages well like fine winos.

It's actually called 'School Days' - though for some of us they were a 'daze'. :-)
First track on his first album - 'Loudon Wainwright' (also known as 'Album I') from 1970.

thanks for the INFO homelessbrother..... I was thinking about picking this album up, but you being the "youtube LWIII expert", i was wondering what your thoughts were of the album.... I have the original version of most of the songs on the album.... is this re-recording worth picking up?

@melvinrobb I hope you bought this. It is a fabulous reinterpretation. Loudon and the the musicians weave a seamless tapestry and have a great time doing it. I played it incessantly for a year! His voice is still a great instrument.

The man still has it. Nice to hear minimal backing - Muse Blues on Conan a few months ago was almost drowned out!!! Love the casual jeans and christmassy red cardie :-)
