@ExplorerDS6789 Canada is a parliamentary democracy, so in any election we can only choose a local MP (who may or may not be of the governing party even if that person wins, of course).
The Prime Minister is the leader of whichever party wins the most seats (it must be noted, that is not necessarily the party with the most votes -- in fact Harper won all of his elections, including his majority, only by vote splitting and possible tampering).
How does Canada choose new prime ministers? Do you vote or are they chosen some other way?
