This is how I remember it....Gary Carter only had ONE strike on him when he started the rally with a single. It seems like the majority of New Englanders think there were two-outs, two strikes, and nobody on base. I know it's a small detail, but I've always insisted Carter only had one strike on him.
people forget that if Buckner would have fielded the ball cleanly, Wilson got a huge jump to first, and might have beaten the badly hurt Buckner. in other words, why the hell is he in there? he should be on the DL!
The WILD PITCH ....was the biggest moment .......THAT ted up game ...Mets were gonna win anyway after they tied up game ..Buckner just ended the agony for Red Sox ...He didn't cost 'em the game
All I can say about the mets is 1986 thats all hahahahaha. Just memories thats all the mets and the fans have. I know it hurts inside being a mets fan. After the 80's mets just sucked after and still do. What ashame it is.
As a SOX fan, I am not a fan of these moments. Still this is well done. I am one of those now rare and once common Sox fans who DOES blame Buckner on the play. Partially. McNamara should hold the most blame, but Buckner was hurt and should have tried to take himself out.
Excellent video and greatest NES game of all time! Amazing comeback by the Mets and Boston blew a lead late in game 7 as well. Vin Scully is one of the best announcers and I agree that McCarver and Buck continue to bore the audience with their obvious bias announcing on FOX.
I had and played this game all the time... It had all the Division winners from the 1986 and 1987 seasons... The '86 Red Sox, Angels, Mets, and Astros, along with the '87 Tigers, Twins, Cardinals and Giants... GREAT GAME... BACK THEN, THIS WAS HI-TECH STUFF FOR US KIDS!!!
As a Lifelong Sox fan this video pains me... Great job though... Vin Scully is the BEST!!! Jim Rice was and is my favorite ballplayer of All Time... He indeed caught that first OUT of that inning... So glad Rice finally got his Hall of Fame due last summer!!!
As a baseball fan in his mid 40's I remember the '86 series and of course remember having the RBI baseball game. Let me say that this is one of the most entertaining videos on Youtube I have ever seen...it's just a classic. Kudos to the person who put this together!!
Great job!! RBI was one of my favorite games growing up. We usually played the NL vs. AL All Star games with my friends. Canseco was a beast on this game!
Friggin hilarious! I don't know how you coordinated all that, editing the audio, and getting the video to match perfectly, just beyond outstanding! Absolutely hilarious stuff!
In response to the game, speirsm put it perfectly with blaming the Red Sox bullpen, blowing a 2-run lead in Game 6, then a 3-run in Game 7 in the fucking world series is unacceptable. In response to the vid, absolutlely fantastic vid!!!
And here I was led on all this time to believe that the Red Sox would have won the World Series if only Bill Buckner had caught that ball!Boston had squandered a 2 run lead before that infamous blooper ever occurred.
i've been a diehard red sox fan since 1967,i dont begrudge buckner at all, because it wasnt his decision to stay in .,but the reality was he could hardly walk because of bone chips in both his ankles, and the right move would have been to put dave stapleton in as a defensive replacement as they did 7 other times(the red sox were 7-0 when stapleton went in just during the playoffs and world series)but buckner along with don baylor''s prodding kept buckner in and the rest is history.
What about the passed ball that Gedman should have caught? Game tied on that play! Buckner makes the play, we go to extra innings and then what? no one knows! Not enough blame spread on this one!
@speirsm THANK YOU! I get so sick and tired of hearing "Buckner blew that game" when in fact the bullpen and McNarma BLEW IT! None the less the Sox had a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning in Game 7.
"Tonight's NBC, Miller Lite player of the game is Marty Barrett! Miller Lite happy to present a check for $1,000 in the name of Marty Barrett to the National Multiple Sclorosis Society." LMAO. That was hilarious! look at their picture of Barrett.
And I had no idea the game was tied when the ball went through Buckner. I can't believe how much blame they piled on him for a loss that just wasn't hit fault.
i feel sorry for buckner that stuff happens and even if he had made the play they may not of won anyways it is more of the pitchers fault than buckners and he'll haved to live with it for the rest of his life.
I feel bad for the TRUE DIE HARD RED SOX FANS. The people that have jumped on the Red Sox bandwagon this last four or five years have no idea what the real Red Sox fans had to go through before 2004.
Man, that had to take an unbelievable amount of time. I don't think even in my younger days I woud have had the patience and dedication it must have taken to make this video.
After listening to Vince's call I'm a little sad that Buck and McCarver have ruined many of the last thirteen season's classic moments. The last time that Buck made a good call was when Jim Leyertiz hit that 3-run shot off the Braves closer in 96. The classic moment that Buck really fouled up was Aaron Boones shot in 03. Sadly, Buck and McCarver usually ruin moments because they are so busy trying to put their spin or morality into the moment instead of letting the moment speak for itself.
Buck and McCarver are the most unprofessional people in the business... maybe if they spent more time calling a game instead nitpicking the Yankees and sucking up to the Cardinals (in Buck's case), they'd only be terrible instead...
They didn't start that way though. In 96 they did a great job and really breathed live back into the national broadcast of the playoffs (remember the mess that ABC and NBC did to the 95 playoffs). However, at some point in the latter 90s their personal opinions started to affect the way that they called games. I'm not sure if it was Cardinal bias but it was certainly a National League bias.
The messy TV coverage of the 1995 playoffs was due to a revenue sharing joint venture between ABC, NBC & MLB called The Baseball Network. ABC and NBC announced prior to the postseason that they would bail out of what was planned to have been a 6 year long venture (ABC & NBC would alternate the rights for the Division Series & World Series & All-Star Game & LCS). The worst part of TBN was that the 1st 2 rounds of the playoffs were regionally televised.
It has only been in the last couple of years that Buck and McCarver have accepted that the AL is superior but that has led to further moaning and off-handed comments about salaries, the designated hitter, and east coast bias. Its too bad because Buck has a great voice for the game but he has allowed his opinions, and perhaps his other projects, to hurt his presentation and call.
Whoever called Endy's 2006 NLDS catch was good... them?
I'm a diehard Mets fan (and I've lived my whole life in California! Never been east of Arizona, the one time I got to see my heroes in person, my biggest Mets hero, Piazza, hit a homer at Dodger Stadium down the baseline I was sitting... WOW!)
In a just world, Vin, you'd call games for us forever (please, PLEASE find a way to let him call games for us forever...)
@ScottDecker still worse than terrible, but i completely agree, mccarver has absolutely no idea how to call a game, buck has no enthusiasm, and has even said the game is boring and takes too long to play, so why call it all? and fox is the worst, their coverage is horrible and they picked the worst sportscasting duo currently available
@ScottDecker As a Cardinals fan, I have to disagree on Joe Buck. He left the Cards booth years ago and is now a bona fide Yankees/Red Sox/Mets announcer and East Coast butt kisser now. He went for the big money and could care less about the Cardinals. I agree on all your other points though; I wish Fox and Buck/Mccarver would be replaced.
@TheHolloway1983 well its okay to make a call, you usually leave the silent moment after it has happened, but buck has absolutely no idea how to make a dramatic moment, and his voice is so dry its not even appropriate to call the World Series, but unfortunately, FOX as usual is horrible with what games they pick and who their announcers are, so we just have to wait for someone else to come up
@TheHolloway1983 You think that was bad. Idk, if you watch football but he muffed the David Tyree helmet catch play pass from Eli Manning in super bowl XLII. IT sounded like he was waiting in line at the cafeteria deciding whether he wanted regular or chocolate milk.
@TheHolloway1983 I can't listen to Joe Buck call a game, there is NO excitment in his voice about ANYTHING. he has got to be the worst, yet we can't get away from him, it seems. ARRRGHH!! I loved the way his dad called a a game. "I don't believe what i just saw"
@TheHolloway1983 Thank You!!!! I CAN NOT AGREE ANYMORE. And somehow, Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are now gone from Sunday Night Baseball. How do they go, and the man with the most boring voice in the world calls the World Series and Super Bowl!
Seems MLB (and the NFL) keep their archives shut up tight like national secrets because they treat every frame of footage like another dollar sign to be pre-packaged and sold.
i'll never forget watching this game live,my brother & I had just moved back to Florida from California & we were avid N.Y. Met fans since the 60's before they beat the Orioles in 1969, anyhow i was watching in my bedroom & my brother watching upsatirs in his attic bedroom & we went " Nucking Futs" when Mookie hit the perfect game crusher that skipped threw Bill Buckners legs, Bill was injured but they kept him in so he could be"on the Field" when they won lol
In RBI baseball, every game had one team in red, the other in blue. This obviously took a lot of time to get the at bats (with foul balls, hitting it where it was actually hit, etc.), and then it was all edited together. This could not have been played all in one shot. And they did a great job. I love this game and laugh whenever I see this
Nice! I was wondering how u were gonna get a wild pitch. Had to get all those K's, did it by urself I'm guessing. Very funny bro and more impressed on the timely placed hits also.
the wild pitch also allowed knight to get to second, allowing him to score on the error. w/o the wild pitch he only would of got to 2nd or 3rd so it was the wild pitch more than buckners error
first video on youtube where i've seen people actually complimenting the skills of the person who posted the video instead of taking the time to pick fights with other commenters.

probably one of the best moments in baseball history...def one of the best play by play call ever.

I've watched this, or some form of it, (I taped it back then) a countless number of times ... and it gets better every time.
A great piece of work!! THANKS

Nice! I was wondering how u were gonna get a wild pitch. Had to get all those K's, did it by urself I'm guessing. Very funny bro and more impressed on the timely placed hits also.
pickzkickz 2 years ago
lol @ how fast they run back to the dugout. If only they could harness all that speed on the basepaths.
geeisthisnametaken 2 years ago 2
LOL very well done. 5/5
everyone blames buckner people forget it was stanleys wild pitch that tied the game.
BECKERvaiMALMSTEEN66 2 years ago 3
the wild pitch also allowed knight to get to second, allowing him to score on the error. w/o the wild pitch he only would of got to 2nd or 3rd so it was the wild pitch more than buckners error

And don't forget Calvin Sharaldi. He deserved a pair of goat horns as well.

this was such an amazing re-enactment.
first video on youtube where i've seen people actually complimenting the skills of the person who posted the video instead of taking the time to pick fights with other commenters.
nice job :)

How did this happen? Was this for Nintendo? I have it. Hernandez bats 3rd and you can't swith him in the batting order and there is no Mitchell

This is very creative with the commentary. Anyway, I really loved RBI Baseball. It was the first baseball video game, which I played back in 87'.

Listen to the roar of the crowd after the ball goes through Buckner's legs. Unreal. Heard the place was shaking, total bedlam.

This was absolutely unbelievable. It must have takes quite some time to do this, but it was worth every minute of it.

And that's why I don't comment at 3 A.M. most days. I type takes instead of taken. lol.

BUCKNER YOU IDIOT!
CThockey9 2 years ago
Sadly for the Mets, if that game was today, they would find some way to choke on a ball rolling through Buckner's legs

although i am a mets fan, i can imagine wilson tripping over his feet XD
