This film is fantastic, one of my favourites :) I can't watch this without eating something, last time I saw it I had some miso soup, ramen and onigiri mmmm oishi na.
After I watched the movie, I couldn't wait a moment longer. I rushed to the kitchen to make my very first omelet! It was actually very successful (I did pause and rewind the tape a couple of times before I went into the kitchen). The video clip brought back these wonderful memories. 5 stars for the video.
the person who actually made that omelette was the director of this movie (juzo itami). First he was filming this scene with a professional chef he hired, but he didn't like it much, eventually he decided to do it by himself.
well done old bum. this is a proper omelette, purely yellow without a hint of brown. Notice how early in the process he begins to turn it and how briefly it stays in the pan. He knows that the runny middle will continue to cook once the hot outside layer is folded over.
when i saw this movie to me it was the same effect when you saw a porn movie-have sex- after tampopo i met waht the "gula" means. eat eat eat Awwwww! que rico
it's a sweet Japanese ketchup, yes. add some mirin to classical Heinz and you're all set

Awesome. Must make omurice! But... damn my electric stove. Only a good flame makes a good omeletter.
