One thing I hate about Hudson is that she can't really ad-lib when she needs too! When she has tried it doesn't work out half the time. But she has a strong vioce. Also she has a stark way of singing like you know how she going to perform it by the books the way she learned the number and nothing is going to change.
I always love hearing this song and enjoyed seeing it on Letterman! Her voice is clear, sweet, and even though she can blow, she makes you feel emotion in her songs and the performance. Great Job.
Pleas bconsist is a lamb and she still hit that note and mad other notes. Whitney in prime had like 4-5 octaves, but Jenn only has at best 2-2.5 octaves so please. Even now Nippy has like 3-3.5 octaves and she in her worst vocal state.

Whitney and Jennifer are both great. Whitney Houston is way better in the fact the jenn's version is 3:36 and Whtney Houstons is over p minutes long. Jennifer could not handle that song for 9 minutes. That does not take away from her performance because it was amazing. You can tell that she is a fan and learned from the likes Whitney Houston so with No whitney there would be no Jennifer.

Whitney rendition should not be compared to this. Whitney makes this rendition look so so crappy. Frenchie version is even better. Jenn can sing but she always sound so sharp in her tone. She lacks control over registers too.

Um Um Um Um, Good! Nothing's gonna stop Jennifer Hudson now ... As long as she Maintains, that sense of grace, confidence, grace, the way she makes it seem effortless to use her voice in projecting feeling into the words of whatever song she's singing and make it do what she does--make her audience feel her emotions. Whitney and Jennifer are both great. Whitney Houston is way better in the fact the jenn's version is 3:36 and Whtney Houstons is over p minutes long. Jennifer could not handle that song for 9 minutes. That does not take away from her performance because it was amazing. You can tell that she is a fan and learned from the likes Whitney Houston so with No whitney there would be no Jennifer.

Whitney rendition should not be compared to this. Whitney makes this rendition look so so crappy. Frenchie version is even better. Jenn can sing but she always sound so sharp in her tone. She lacks control over registers too.

nobody can 'take someone's place' because there is 'room' for EVERYONE!!AND everyone is UNIQUE too!!If it weren't for Whitterz contributions to music and vocal excellence there probably wouldn't even BE a Jen Hudson )at least not as we know her!!) as SHE was influenced by Whitterz work too...so that statement is a tad short sighted to my perception!!Anyway...this was flawless!!What an amazing live performance...she's the BOOM!!

@pastorghawk when this girl knows how to have crystal clear vibrato and breath properly than maybe she can step on some Whitney level. Her technique is mad choppy in comparison to Whitney prime vocals, and Whitney had mad more range in her youth.

@kmaur21 I don't know what you're hearing but you need to open your ears. I do agree that Whitney is greatest singer of all time. But in this day and age Jennifer Hudson is the closest you're gonna get to that. AND she has amazing control. And lastly Jennifer Hudson has WAY more range at any age than Whitney. That's a fact, not an accessment. If u want proof go on youtube and lookup when hits a B6 and a C6 on the American Idol tour.

@ColosoulCameron Please B5 is the note Jenn Hud and Whitney been belting that high for YEARS and in full chest not in mixed voice like Hudson. Whitney just belted a B5/C6 straight up hoarse in Norway 2010 concert in I love the lord and very easily too. Whitney also has whistle register she has used in 80's and 90's, Jenn Hudson could never hit those high notes like prime Whitney!

@DJAlmond123 I just gave you the source Kolding 1993 All the Man I Need 4:01 into song. Its on youtube just type Kolding. She hit a C6# D6 in head voice, than at 4:01 glided into a whistle to Bb6, and she hit a 3 A6's and Bb6 in Brunei IWDWS 1996 and she even went higher NYC 1987 to a D7 when she sung Janet's Control...........................

As long as she Maintains, that sense of grace, confidence, grace, the way she makes it seem effortless to use her voice in projecting feeling into the words of whatever song she's singing and make it do what she does--make her audience feel her emotions. I can't understand why we "ppl' put or allow these things to happen to us. But, I just let go of a man that I have truly loved for the past nine months..he did nothing for me but bring me down and hurt me...and, I finaly showed him that I "can" stand on my own two feet and he, is now and will always be alone...I feel sorry for him..but love myself more and more each day...thank you for posting this.
