@rweerakkody4565 it all depends on how u control ur mind... there r monks that reached enlightenment at recent times like the thai nun Mae Chee Kaew (1901 - 1991).. im sure many monks that follow the thai forest tradition have developed there mind to very high levels unlike the monks that live in cities coz these monks dn't have many distractions so they r able to meditate without distractions... merits r important but i wud say mostly its your mind
