this move would be a good follow up to the spinning back kick, since the spinning kick will push your opponent, whether or not it does damage, you've still created space for this kick technique, and momentum.
As a beginner white belt, I still need to practice this thousands of time because today, when Sabeum asked me to try fly kick for the first time, I jumped and fell, my back hit the ground:(
its a traditional technique in tae kwon do after they do a kick in drills they do a double block to the side. He's ITF sp if he was actualy spaariring or fighting he would not drop his hands. if your familiar with martial arts at all you will see in most arts they have traditional techniques that develop a stregnth but are not meant to be used in a practical situation.
this is the very reason TKD is not so great. jumping kick with ZERO guard up. awsome way to get smoked. i love how he is focused with points. yay for scoring points with our hands down at our hips!
i've been taking tkd for 5 years and i just want you to know that you shouldn't break with the instep of your toes because that can hurt like hell! And by "SIS" sound idk if you mean keeya (or however it's spelled) that's translated into spirit shout or something like that. When you get punched you can keeya so the air comes right out of your body and you don't feel a thing =D
hey when you do this kick do you hit the target with your instep? We're breaking a board with this kick and I'm quite nervous that I can't break it infront of hundreds of people ... how hard is the board anyway? I'm not sure whether to hit with the instep or the part of the foot below the toes
I you're breaking a wooden board, you have nothing to fear because they are very forgiving and break wherever you hit them. Plastic boards require good aim, but hit the center and you will be fine. Whatever you do, don't hit with the instep. You have to point your toes far upward and hit with the ball of your foot, but be careful not to kill your toes :). I've been in TKD 3 years now, and that kick is still my favorite boardbreak.
You know, that kick would be obliterated by anyone with common sense. Simply sidestep and nada chagi the crap out of them. That kick is for demonstrations, definitely not for sparring.
From ringside it looks easy, but that kick would get ya... quite fast.
As a beginer though, I would rather get REAL good at blocking whatever comes at me, and learn just 2 punches, one kick.. then go from there. (Hard blocks can hurt ya)
This guy seems like a moron wannabe. I'm learning from a legitimate Korean master in TaeKwonDo who barely speaks English and was about to be on the Olympic Demo team for S.Korea but was sent to the states by his master. Now that's authenticity. And he's fucking amazing at every kick.
hahaha thats the worst timinopi apchagui ive seen. ATA and all that spupid US TKD styles can suck my dick. Anyway, do you really think that you can lern something seeing this crapy and geek video hahahaha you people are very stupid now I can see why you have that fucking president and those wars
One of the faults in TKD is shown there; This idiot doesn't even have his arms to be ready to block. Concidering that he is a black belt and all , pretty serious mistake or he got taught that way.
I've been taught that kick without the front step but each have their methods...
lol I'm 14 and a red belt and I can do it better too. He needs to point his foot more while bending his toes back. His toes are fine. I take under ITF and it's amazing.
I think it's a teacher/style issue. An ATA teacher once told me to use my arms as needed to keep balance. The instructor I have now tells his students to keep the hands in a ready position throughout the kick.
i prefer the easy method just jump and kick thats not a flying kick the flying side kick is more of a fly than that but that is not a fly kick its a jump front kick the easest kick in all martial arts
i think hes got the left andright legs wrong because he is mirroring it for the viewers, only plausible explanation lol. this dudes not bad, he isnt the best but hes pretty good
what hes trying to teach here, is whats known in itf tkd as a hitching kick (the person who told him flying front kcik should be flogged), similar to a scissor kick. the "tsst" sound is his own personal breath control which some people use instead of kihap to get more power into their attacks
I'm a teacher as well as this dork. That is a jump kick. He is probably just a want a be. If you look in the background you will see posters. But they are ceremonial japenese tyki dance banners. He's no teacher
you are a terrible tae kwon do instructor. all your students are going to get their ass beaten in sparring matches. thats not a fly kick you ass, thats a jump kick. and whats with the TSSSS sound when you do a gay kick.
this is horrible... and its just a plain cross front kick... lol get your termonology right next time...and im a 2nd degree...in a flying kick you dont switch legs..you use the momentum of the jump...
this move would be a good follow up to the spinning back kick, since the spinning kick will push your opponent, whether or not it does damage, you've still created space for this kick technique, and momentum.

JasloMilwaukee 3 years ago
If the board is low then you do use your instep. If the board is chin level or higher then your use your ball of foot with the toes pulled back.
So for jumping front kick it will all depend on how high you jump and how high the holder is holding the board.

you learn to kick with both feet
if you are right handed then I think the kick would be more powerful with the right foot

not necessarily, but i think that you'd have better form when kicking with your "good" leg.
