  • Mercury----------won't be there. da da da da doooooooooooooo.....lol

  • Mercury was once a very well respected name in the Luxury car segment until they released the Tracer. I bet the Tracer has something to do with the discontinuation of the Mercury brand... but that's just my thinking.

  • RIP Mercury

  • i have that car :D

  • @DarkJesterProduction Which car?

  • @tolaviator oh the sable my grandma gave me it when she got to elderly to drive it only has 80K miles on it and looks brand new inside and out

  • rest in peace

  • go on yahoo.com mercury is ending their car production. starting in the end of 2010 they will be history. thumbs up if you agree

  • The Mercury sable its so sofisticated for that years, it was full of electronic details that all the cars of this era have but.. the mercury sable and taurus.. have it 20 years before, lol... good job for american cars,, all the time innovating with new tecnology !! =)

  • @D4rkRAGE Exactly and alot of people dont realize that because they probably arent old enough to remember the competition to Sable and Taurus at the time. Most cars were square boxes and Taurus and Sable were a competely new "jellybean" design. A design which even now doesn't look 25 years old

  • '

    no no thank,,,

i dont like this ford car

  • What is the point of the Murcury brand, they're just mildly tweaked fords.

  • Its sort of a poor man's luxury line of cars. More fancy than the regular fords but less expensive than their Lincoln brand of cars.

So yeah they are the same cars.....but are fancier. xd

  • mercury is the equivalent of Buick in the gm series of cars.

  • What is the point of having MERCURY all over this page if you inbred creatures can't manage to spell anyway..........? Or to use proper punctuation. Did you steal your computer?

  • LMAO true

  • sables do a good neutral slam

  • What is the name of this music?

  • That is "Reach Out" by The Four Tops

  • we had the 87 Topaz and 88 Sable. The Topaz was alright, but the sable was a piece of crap. Don't know how these cars were so popular.

  • I work at a car dealership in British Columbia, and today I scooped up a pristine 1990 Mercury Sable ... digital dash, sunroof, white - and NO RUST! buddy, you would love this car!

When this car came out in Sept 85, the styling was positively outrageous! You have to remember the era your are dealing with. Cars were basically still the same style as they were in the 1970s ... with am radios and two knobs on the radio.

  • yes it sounds like I would love that car. I drove a 90 for many years with the digital dash. I miss that car.

  • Congratulations on your new car. I agree 100% with you. I think the styling is strikingly beautiful even today. And the lightbar still makes it unmistakable, though the Mercury Villager and Pontiac Grand Prix had it too. Good luck with your car.

  • Hey the Mercury Sable (86-89) was Ford Taurus (89-94) on Mexico!!

Now I don´t know wich mark is the guilt of the problematic T/A in Mexico

  • the quality of these cars were aweful

  • sophisticated shape my ass

  • For 1986....The Mercury Sable was very sophisticated at a time when most cars looked like boxes on wheels.

  • i meant by today's standards

  • ugly car

  • Not ugly. Retro.

  • Wow those cars look so ugly now. Kind of interesting to watch these old car commercials because you get to see what people thought looked good at the time.

  • Impossible. The original Sables will always be beautiful cars.

  • I wish Mercury still made great commercials like this!

But the new "Mercury Girl" Jill Wagner is hot!

  • Yeah I love the Mercury commercials of this era too. I wish they would build Sables like these though!

  • 1995 Mercury Sable, great looking motor car

    John

    Edmunds Productions

  • 21 years later, these cars are on cinder blocks or some starving college kid's pizza delivery car.

  • I wish it were still the 80's, great decade, great cars from Ford. New 08 Sable is a looker though.

  • Why doesn't this commercial feature the Grand Marquis? Is it because it didn't have the logo from the Mercury Sable?

  • those old body styles rust like hell

  • They do when they are bathed in salt. If you go to the warm climates you can find them rust free.

  • Great song that went well with the commercial.

  • Where is the Grand Marquis??

  • It wasn't exactly shaped to use the wind to help it hold the road, it was a huge box.

  • If you pause it at 17 seconds you can see the Grand Marquis Station Wagon in the background to the left.

  • Good eye! I'd bet anything that the school bus passing by was a Ford bus too!

  • Well, the rear of the bus looks like a Thomas bus chassis (recognized from having taken Ford B700s with Thomas bodies all through grade school), and Thomas chassis 9 times out of 10 are on the Ford B-series platform, so in all likelihood that is a Ford bus (combined with it being a Ford commercial, it 99% likely it is).

  • Wow your bus knowledge is impressive. However, there are probably just as many Thomas buses on International chassis out there. New Thomas buses are exclusively on Freightliner chasses as both companies are now owned by Daimler.

  • Yeah!, the Colony Park, thanks!

  • Mercury gerçek uzay aracı ....

  • Whats up with that look the girl in the Beige Topaz gives to the guy in the red Ford Escort?? lmao

  • that is the mercury lynx xr-3 . a twin to the ford escort gt!!

  • I was happy to see one of those in this ad...they're so rare now I don't think I can recall ever seeing one in person. I have an '89 Escort GT, still running strong

  • i love lamp. thanks for posting.

  • Is that Alan Alda doing the voice-over?

  • My uncle has a 1980's Cougar in the Ivory Coast (wEST AFRICA), AND MY MOM HAS A 1997 Mercury Cougar also in Ivory Coast. It good car even in the hot african climate

  • Now there crappy cars

  • thanks for your input mr. mullet man. now go back inside your trailer and beat your ugly wife some more.

  • some of th sable they made had a digital instrument cluster right?

  • Yes, digital instruments were optional on Taurus and Sable until the 1996 models came out.

  • Happiness is just an illusion -- when you drive a Mercury! (hey, wait a minute...)

  • Wow. Thanks for the memories. I almost forgot the days when the mid-80s Sable was seen as an exciting new car! (Was that Thomas Dolby in the car?)

  • I love the Four Tops. Thanks for posting.

  • I love mercury, thanks for posting.
