  • WOW to what you did to your guitar AND to what you do to it!!! Truly impressive

  • You have a fretless "Strat"?! Nice...

  • is the sound more dampened?

  • @bucketbotable Hi! On power chords and normal chords, no. On certain single note type music, sometimes it is, yes, especially on slower music.

  • The power of one only comes from two !

  • ahh. good job man. Now i kinda want to take the frets off of one of my guitars lol

  • liquide tenstion experimental 2 !!! yes !! ^_^

  • Yep, I like the song a lot. :¬ )

  • Looks interesting! Ive been thinking of taking the frets off of my cheapish starter guitar once I get a better one.

  • When you get a better one, give it a go! I did it to an Encore guitar which I got for £30...works fine!

  • ..that's an Encore?

  • Yesir, that is/was an Encore. Nice little things to try your modding skills on. I have another one I bought at the same time and I scalloped the fretboard.

  • I don't like the Encore I bought. The only reason I don't like it is because of the really thin neck...

  • I never knew there was actually a fretless guitar... wow. that's gotta be a pain in the ass to play and you make it look like cake...

  • Thanks for your comment, Falchion041. In a way, playing it like this is a lot like playing a normal guitar. Real masters are guys like Ron Thal, who use the weird things a fretless can do, and he does it live, in concerts all the time, which is 10000 times harder too!

  • Wierd things, eh... crap you have no idea how much i like making wierd noise on guitar. :p

  • can you bend on it?

  • nope! to bend you have to slide to the note instead.

  • why cant you bend

  • to bend on a normal guitar, you basically are wiggling a string which is floating in mid air (kind of) it "floats" because it rests on a fret.. If you have no frets, it is impossible to bend normally. To get a feel of how bending on a fretless would feel, get a fretted guitar and fret on the G string, 1st fret. Try and bend the string up a lot...and it is very difficult. That is how it feels all over the neck if you try and bend on a fretless. There are no frets to slide the string up and down.

  • Try doing bends by bending behind the nut

  • O_O Sight reading Perpetual Burn???? And that was a most impressive .... most most most impressive crack at it. I'm in awe, mate 8)

  • Thanks, man! I recently cleaned my fretless board...and since then I have found it really hard to play it... :( Re: perpetual burn, yeah...it is a fun song, but really I should be able to play it a bit better after trying for like, 7 years... :| !

  • whats so good about fretless guitar? first time ive seen iy

  • Hiya funny, (how's things??)

Well, fretless is just a lot of fun!! It is harder to play, but you can do some cool things with it. Ron Thal uses it to make crazy sounds, but other people use theirs to do sort of Indian music. In a way, though, a lot of people use them to show off... :D Having said that, check out the youtube user cchhrriissttt who has beautiful examples of fretless playing.

  • As Ron Thal said there is "so much freedom on a fretless". It is very true, it feels a lot more "free to do what you want". It is of course harder though, but that is part of the fun. thanks for watching, and take care!

  • oh ok cool :D..well u showed off very well in this one :D....and things are going well..how about you?

  • Haha...thanks funny! Going pretty well here I guess, thanks for asking! :)
