  • That was the most bad ass thing I've seen all day, and I've been watching my friends practice parkour.

  • 1:04 he destroyed a Lamp :D

  • rope darts are like the hardest weapon to master, this kid is intense

  • not good demo^!

  • Jackie Chan..

  • its like the rope j=goes around his neck

everyones like is tht part of the show

  • He messed up so much D: Poor guy's not gonna win T.T

  • no skill at all i use to twirl ropes as a kid!

  • Well, that's enough to intimidate me!

  • wow looks traditional he didnt roll around on the ground or do any ridiculous modern wushu corkscrew spins

  • damn he like gogo from kill bill lol

  • it'd really suck if he'd messed up. :x

  • Korean writing at a chinese event - _ -

  • are those real weapons O.O

  • @kimandykim yes, if i remember right. and i could be wrong. but this was a secondary weapon the ancient Chinese battle fields

  • o.o :D

  • Inspiration to the horseshoe scene from shanghai noon right here :D

  • at some point he should have screamed "GET OVER HERE!"

  • pretty cool - it almost looks like hes constantly trying not to get tangled up in the rope but really its almost like a whip chain

  • Really impressive, sheng biao is really difficult to handle, to ahndle a weapon like that is proof of a great mastery. Great demonstration

  • I don't know why, but I've always found this to be an interesting weapon to watch demonstrated in forms.

  • Hit-Girl is better. :3

  • this is only the basics

  • Scorpion in the making :P Anyone has ice blast ability to start the rivalry with this dude? :P

  • how can you do all those cool moves without getting rope burn on your hands?????

  • alot of free time XD

  • ya man i just bought one 3 days ago,and man that thing is pretty heavy and i burned my right index finger cuz i try to catch it while it was still in flight.

  • you do get rope burn at first< i didn't ever get it to bad, but your hands get a callous pretty fast, then you're all good.

  • You develop callouses. There are ropes that are better suited to sliding through your hand than others, but still...

For a long time I used braided ribbon and gloves because when I switched to heavier weights the ribbon would actually cut me instead of just burn. I've since taken to using natural fiber rope and the rope burn is pretty easily ignored.

I'll probably only pick the braided ribbon up agan when I start doing some tutorials since it is easier to see than the rope.

  • Also, I've seen some wushu practicioners that wrapped their hands with a few coils of seperate wrope to act as a sort of glove on their palms for when they used heavier weights and meteor hammers.

  • i think they have exercises for tht?

  • I totally want to learn how to use that weapon

  • Naa this is a chain whip a ancient weapon used in kung fu very leathal used for assassinating the persons or disarming them...

  • This is a rope dart. Notice the rope?

  • lol I am use chain whip, first of all it's waaay too long to be a chain whip, second, lol look at the rope...look at the dart...

and chain whips are not for assassinating XD disarming yes but they are meant to be non-lethal

  • um actually, if a pro rope dart wielder had a sharper tip, they could kill some one no problem, but i would say start with rope dart or meteor hammer before going to chain whip, unless you are already good at chain whip...... but it hurts to get cracked with a real chain whip

  • yo that was sexy. :D

  • this isnt a meteor hammer. i thought the fact that it had a ruff of bright fabric on it would have given that away. the dart is used for completely different techniques than the meteor hammer.

i would say this guy is quite skilled, based solely on how difficult it is to master any of the weapons from this particular family. saying that i practice the Japanese arts so im not to familiar with Chinese weapons. still im sure thats a rope dart.

  • yes, they replace the 2 pound ball with a fabric or a plastic ball in some occasions because only a few hundred people are skilled with a 2 pound ball. Even if you see the video on YT on meteor hammer, human weapons, they only swing the 2 pound ball.

  • fuck. you're such a loser. that's all i have to say

  • meteor hammer and rope dart use the same techniques in chinese martial arts, they just do different damage...concussive vs. piercing. make sure not to confuse it with a chainwhip, which IS used with some but also different techniques

  • definitely a rope dart, a meteor hammer has a ball

  • Holy fuck that is awesome!

  • the Chinese made the best weapons ever

  • thanks for the comment, Koreans have the fastest kicks i've ever seen. :)

  • haha thnx!

  • @mindreaction and we Slovaks have the best cheese dumplings!

  • @mindreaction you haven't seen Bruce Lee have you? lolz

  • @mindreaction Koreans got kicks, Japanese got swords, and Chinese have best non-sword weapon, but the Israeli's make one hell of a gun ;)

  • @HairofSteel555 shame they kids with em though

  • @Koreanlion7

nah i gotta say that the japanese made the best weapons in the world. ofc the chinese created the rope dart, which is (almost) used in the japanese weapon used in the art ninjitsu, known as the kusari gama. but yeah, they had alot good weapons, not gonna say no to that :)

  • @soufwesplaya I should clear it up. I've never heared of Japanese version of Rope Dart. Also the japanese swords (Which I believe you mean by the best weapon) is actually the same quality as Chinese, because they both have the same origin, just it's more culitvated in Japan, so not many people realize it. Kusari gama which you mentioned is version of japanese sickle (kama) with a chain and weight - not rope - at one end (kusari means chain in japanese), so you get Kusari Kama, or Kusari Gama.

  • @Koreanlion7 Ever seen a sword whip??? /watch?v=gzxtpg9HKbU

  • @Koreanlion7 -all tho I love all traditional martial arts weapons, especially soft weapons like chain whip, nunchakus, rope-dart/meteor hammer etc.. also practiced thrown weapons (from tomahawks, axes, knifes to spikes for 4 years almost daily years back - but I still value the the Katana most for its beauty and the craftsmanship skill of traditional Japanese katana. A spiritual process to forge one, one of the dō:s

Ofc every weapon is made for different thing,so it's a personal preference. :)

  • @Koreanlion7 the gunpowder proves that XD

  • nice video...i really love watching this skill

  • wow! i learned some firedart at camp but this is amazing.

  • young master!

  • aghhh thats so crazy!! is there anywhere in SoCal where i can learn rope dart?

  • yeah. SCWA, NWTC, Action wushu..

hope you have some wushu experience though....or you might kill yourself..;0!

  • south coast wushu academy, action wushu academy, national wushu training center...

better have previous experience though..could kill yourself...

  • actually...ive been learning off of these youtubes videos ^^;; ive whacked myself a few times on the shin and head lmao

wait...action wushu academy as in....the one i santa fe springs, california??

  • I take back my last comment. It's a different video X( sorry. but what's the difference anyways?

  • Chain whips aren't as long as rope darts

Chain whips are best when uits used in doubles:)

  • the same video is titled "chain whip"

what's the difference between chain whip and rope dart besides the chain and the rope part?

  • the rope dart is extremly hard to master....

  • lol. u copied from NGC?

  • its a fact, the rope dart IS extremely hard to master.. so much understand needed with the wraps, once i understand those i can probalby do a pretty decent job with it on my own.

  • pobody's nerfect. i can do that, just not as fast; the kid's definitely got moves

  • to answer it more specificlly, yes he did mess up.

  • did he mess up iin the beginning? aroud 15 seconds into the video.

    other than that, awesome.

  • I'm not an expert with this apparatus. But generally, if the tip of this flexible weapon drops to the floor, there is a considerable amount of points deducted from his score... Hope this answer your question.

  • @ThisIsBernie yea it looks like he messed up to me. he was going for an elbow wrap but lost his grip with his right hand. there are some moves where you need to plant the dart on the floor though. one of them is called 'pull fish from sea'. he does this move at 1:10

  • crazy cool
