For what you are trying to play you have the wrong guitar! You need something with more balls, like maybe a Les Paul with EMG pickups.

I have a Gibson Les Paul with EMG pickups and a Schecter 7 strings Jeff Loomis Signature with EMG. But I prefer the "strat sound".
