I own both and have noticed the non compensated is more accurate with the hotter ammo , and lower velocity heavier bullet stuff is more accurate from the 23c....swapped back n fourth ...several different shooters. Try some wolf 180 gr. Then something hotter like a hornaday 165 gr. Try both one day just to see.
this is a great video, very interesting, i wanted to see the diffrence in the 2 before i bought a 23. i was going for the 23c, i was just sold form this video. 23c all the way
@jreedmcu1 What exactly would you like discussed? As noted, it is a completely subjective, un-scientific assessment. Any discussion is in the vid. If you have a specific question that isn't covered in the video let me know. Thanks
@jeffshootsstuff thanks for getting back so quickly. basically what i'm looking for is, what is different between the Glock 23 and the 23c? also what does 'compensated' refer to? i.e. what does it mean?
@jreedmcu1 The C stands for "compensated". Technically I believe they aren't truly compensated, but rather "ported." there are two ports milled into the top of the barrel about a third of the way back from the muzzle, with matching longitudinal ports milled through the top of the slide to let the gases escape. Some of the expanding gas from the cartridge being fired escapes in a "V" shape upward through the barrel/slide and like a small jet, pushes down on the pistol, reducing felt recoil.
It is energy displaced and no matter what the modification, the energy has to go somewhere. Sounds like in this case there was more mechanical vibration (concussion) in the torso and face versus hands. I would not like that either. I say, it is not worth the conpensation swap out.
@hlgrice For me it isn't... but others don't notice it and the felt recoil is significantly reduced. So you pays yer nickel and you takes your choice. :)
@MyYogiB I might feel that way about a 17C or 19C. I fear I just don't appreciate the higher-pressure .40. The concussion bugs me. I much prefer shooting 9mms or .45s. :)
Dude, there is a difference you can see, the compensated Glock barely moved, the regular fliped up a lot.

Do these two pistols both have failures to lock open when the mag is empty? What generation are the pistol? Good video !

@smart0009 It was probably my thumbs-forward grip interfering with the slide stop. Both Generation 3 FYI.

It's like taking the muffler off your car. Huh? I like the compensated Glock better. It's just more fun to shoot!
