Tarja ha mejorado muchísimo su técnica, tiene detalles que afianzar, pero se nota el progreso en sus grabaciones, hay que recordar el fantasma de la opera a pesar de ser un musical tiene un sobreagudo bastante difícil y es complicado interpretarla correctamente, por otra parte yo no veo necesario que imposte la voz si lo mas importante en el canto no es forzar el sonido, es más bien dejarlo fluir para que se escuche con cuerpo y línea,de una manera mas agradable al oído.

Hay diferentes tipos de sopranos, con diferentes matices, en el caso de tarja es una soprano lirico-dramatica con tres octavas de voz lo que le permite tener una excelente voz central potencia en la octava central. La dramatica solo debe alcanzar un do5, al igual que las liricas pero con el tiempo alcanzan mucho mas que eso, pero las ligeras son sopranos con mas notas de cabeza que de pecho lo que les permite cantar mas las notas agudas.

The nuances, the pianissimos, the position of the sound, the vibrato, everything here is following exactly the Italian technique of bel canto.

Um....Tarja is in no way a Mezzo-Soprano. Have you heard her sing the "Phantom of the Opera" live?
And when she said that F# is too high, she meant the F# above the Soprano High C (C6). I don't know how you thought otherwise, especially since she's sung higher than what you just typed in just about 85% of all Nightwish (and her solo) songs.
That's what Tarja's voice is, a melanchonic winter, cold yet majestic dramatic voice.. and it has more soul in it than a lot of other voice more technically prepared ^^
This is actually Eglise Gutierrez, who is a WONDERFUL soprano. Also, this isn't the part of the song involving bells and the depressing part could be because of the storyline. Check it out. And I can assure you that Gutierrez's range is anything but...well...what you called it.

Msg 2. And did you hear the Natalie Dessay's Lakme performance? AND THE DIFFERENCE? DAMN! Tarja is nothing comparate to her, cause Nath's voice is pure, she's a fantastic actress too! I really think Tarja is lucky.. or at least more than that, she has a good intuition, she knows she's not fantastic but she's trying her best in another styles, and it's cool.

yeap its tarja....for me its her voice, no doubt, and shes a soprano so..she could possibly handle what she´s singing even the highests notes, any soprano very well trained can do it....in other case you couln´t sing an opera.....cause of the high notes, so she can singn it.

she's saying that if the uploader is not sure who is vocalizing, it could be Tarja or any other good soprano and that as it's just vocalizing you could not tell for sure who's voice really is.

Yo pienso que sí es Tarja... Y la catalogación de soprano dramática o lírica la verdad que no me es suficiente para decir si lo es o no, muchas veces sopranos Dramáticas han abordado roles líricos y hasta ligeros, un ejemplo es María Callas.
Además, llevo años escuchando a Tarja y el timbre de la grabación suena igual al suyo, si no es ella, es porque me está fallando mucho el oído.
Es grandiosa su voz :D

whoever it is, it's not a simple vocalise. it's from Dellibe's Lakme (a part from the Bell song). it's somewhat good, but poor quality of sound.

And it doesn't even SOUND like Tarja's voice. I mean, you can definitely hear the Italian school technique in this recording, while we all know Tarja was trained according to the German school. The nuances, the pianissimos, the position of the sound, the vibrato, everything here is following exactly the Italian technique of bel canto.

Yes... this is a trick....DELIBES- LAKME- Eglise Gutierrez -Bell Song- just find that on here on youtube... this here what I comment, isnt Tarja but Eglise!! tarja is basicly a mezzo soprano and by her own words just F#'' is too high note for her and the highest note she sings is perhaps G#''...Anyway, I love Tarja and prefer darker voices, mezzo sopranos are mine :)

Um....Tarja is in no way a Mezzo-Soprano. Have you heard her sing the "Phantom of the Opera" live?
And when she said that F# is too high, she meant the F# above the Soprano High C (C6). I don't know how you thought otherwise, especially since she's sung higher than what you just typed in just about 85% of all Nightwish (and her solo) songs.

This is actually Eglise Gutierrez, who is a WONDERFUL soprano. Also, this isn't the part of the song involving bells and the depressing part could be because of the storyline. Check it out. And I can assure you that Gutierrez's range is anything but...well...what you called it.

I too have a hard time believing that this is Tarja, especially because it's Cuban soprano Eglise Gutierrez. Lovely try though ;). Everyone who wants to see who really sung this check out Eglise's video of it here on Youtube. And then check everything else of hers out because she's wonderful in everything.

You can't expect Tarja to have a pure voice like the one Dessay has since she's not a lyric coloratura soprano, tarja has a more dramatic voice, so this role was very well performed for a voice like hers. It's like Dessay played Violeta and i complained of the lack of drama and power in her voice

Of course if you're talking bout their vocal range you right. Natalie has not a powerful voice, but the feelings she conveys excuse everything. Here, I still don't hear a stunning singing ability in her voice. Sure she worked hard, you can hear it, but it's not as great as people say. I was not mean, talking about Tarja, FOR ME, she hasnt a great potential, and the comparaison with Dessay was make to show the difference of their acting. It's not a competition, it's a lack of feeling inside me.

These 30% are not nothing you must have it but the play is most than important & Tarja is a bad actress

Oh, and by the way, this is NOT vocalizing, and it's not an a'capella song of Lakme, it's The Bell Song and this whole part sung here IS a'capella. That's the original version of it, no orchestrations are played during these moments.

yes that's true, but the Mariella Devia version it's more sutile, than tarja, and the vibrato of tarja is more big, and the high note of Mariella it's so beautiful! Tarja need work more in her voice.
