@thegreatmuffinkings Yes, I created a mask along the tree line with slightly fuzzy edge then placed the image of the mountains under that mask. Since they sync up with their motion and nothing along the mask line animates, you just create the mask once, no adjustments need to be made (no key framing)... the mask has the same motion tracking applied to it that the mountains do.
preety bad when you gotta alter the photo of a lake to make it nice, there aint shit in nebraska but flat empty corn fields no ponds streams or rivers to speak of, no decent lakes and all the lakes they do have are green mud puddles , im from down south but live in lincoln now ive lived in 7 different states and ill tell you this, this place b-lows.......... : /
The main goal is to get the still picture to move in sync with the video and cut the video so that you can let the picture show through.
Using After Effects, you pick two points in the distance to motion track then you apply that motion data to a picture that you've put behind (in layers) behind the video (where you've masked the video layer along the treeline).
thanks. :) Did you know that your profile doesn't have the "videos" group so it makes it more difficult to look through your videos, you have some good tests.
You're right, finding good tracking points was difficult. On the other side of the lake there's a white house with windows and a post that gave enough contrast to track. The problem was that the left point moved out of the scene. I used chroma key to remove the original sky and replace it with the mountains, then added a blur to the tree edges and mountains to give it atmosphere/distance. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks. The clip was originally intended to be double the length, but the tracking data got so bad that the mountains were jiggly, so I just ended the clip early. Thanks for the comment!

@thegreatmuffinkings No rotoscoping necessary. Just pick two trackable points (high contrast) and the image just sticks in place.

Great job :D
But the mountains are a little bit blurred..
FRAGI3015 1 year ago
@FRAGI3015 Yeah, I was intentionally trying to give it some atmosphere blur but maybe overdid it. Switching YT's playback to 480 helps.

omg. I need to know how you did this dude. Nice job.

Sweet, so the whole sky is actually part of the picture of the moutains?
I cut around my image to do this which took a bit longer.
Look at my video "Half life citadel in real life" to see it. It's my first ever shot at after effects.

@adamhully Yeah, I just blended along the tree line, but the sky is just part of the picture.

Haha, that's awesome man! What'd you use as your tracking points? I've found trees and stuff are pretty hard

That is superb. I didn't know what I was looking out for until I read the description after watching the video.
I'd never have known they were fake. Great job.
