Vltava (Moldau) ist das zweite Lied aus dem Zyklus Má vlast (Meine Heimat) und diese Musik soll den ganzen Strom dieses Flusses beschreiben. Vltava ist Offizielllied am verschiedenen staatlichen Festen unserer Republik (Tschechien) und am diesen Gelegenheiten klingt es total monumental und bewegt das Herz!

It's not just the melody that is beautiful. It is also very much the journey building up to the melody. This is why some people don't care for this "techno mix" of the piece. The building up part is a poem, and the melody is the climax. You don't start with the climax :)

While the orchestral version is superior and available I still think this version is really good and well done. It is interesting how he is able to take such a classic peace and give it an original feel while staying 100% faithful to the original version. This is actually pretty cool and worth listening to. I like both versions and thank the poster for making such an atttempt.

Will composers ever go back to writing music like this..."real" music that people want to hear. I just finished a work, "Symphonic Variations After a Theme.." for piano & orchestra here on YT that is written in the Romantic tradition in which I tried to set an example for them. Time will tell if it's a good or bad one. Of course I'm no Smetana but the variations are pretty skilfully written and listenable. I hope avant-garde composers will reconsider their writing style. One can only hope.
