Considering the really primitive recording equipment in 1903, not bad at all. (Of course, no Galli-Curci, Tetrazzini, or Hempel, all of whom made fabulous recordings of this air.) And Dietrich is not a singer one hears much of these days! Thanks for sharing.
I only knew her from the Fledermaus, re-issued by Preiser.
The voice in the opening cantabile is exceedingly lovely. I love her voice. Thereafter the blasting makes it a bit hard to follow but she certainly had the bravura, without thinness or squeezing. Very interesting posting. 1903!
