it was so great in Paris-France and we feel the great energy in each country participation.... together, all is possible, let us remain trustful ! warm hugs. val :)
We need tough laws against human breeding (mandate vasectomies), breeding animals for meat, and coal.
I would support blowing up every prison on earth and freeing all the prisoners - and that includes child molestors - just to shove down the throat of the so-called pseudo-libertarians the concept that ALL laws restrict human behavior. So, all current prisoners think the laws against THEM are unjust.
It really is admirable to watch you people try to mobilize for this to happen, but it doesn't matter how many of you try, it's not going to make a difference. The market is what makes the difference. When solar, wind, etc. cost less than fossil fuels, then you guys get your green paradise. Just be patient, it's coming!
Symbolic action and symbolic demands. The system is the problem, but 350.org love the system so much they want to keep it. They even refer to OUR LEADERS on their page, as though we are less special than those at the top. If that's not institutional bullshit I don't know what is.
According to the United Nations 170,000 square kilometers of forest is destroyed each year. If we constructed solar farms at the same rate, we would be finished in 3 years that would power the whole world
@munkyusm i suppose u prefer people invade countries for oil.....pump tons of shit into the atmosphere and destroy the rainforests and the planet instead....really intelligent.....or perhaps u got a better solution?
if not why dont u go just not bother replying and go back to sleep!
I am getting on my bike!!! Like I do every day to Campus!
Short distance I'am actually faster than cars, and even though I love cars, I love my bike more... feels so much more efficient when you cycle at your top speed without needing to waste energy slowing down and speeding up again. Unlike cars, which speed up to 60km/h only to slow down to 0- 50meters further while I am cycling past at 20km/h constant... I am running on biofuels too :P
To the "monkey wrenchers" and the "individual choicers," you're both correct. If you can influence the energy power brokers, then do so, but that usually requires a great deal of money. If you have no clout to bend their ears, then be liviing a example of personal responsibility to those around you.
As for me, I live over 50 miles from the nearest event, so I will do my part by staying home. And, no, I have no interest in organizing an event on my farm.

Get on your skateboard! And somehow change the fact that the biggest consumer of fossil fuels on planet earth is the military industrial complex! Uh, right.
Look, if you genuinely want to stop the destruction of this planet, you need to do more than bike & tweet about "cool" events like this, WHATEVER this is supposed to be. You need to actually forego luxuries and boycott anything produced with petroleum. You need to monkeywrench the system. otherwise it's just mental masturbation.
@goodwifeweaver The encouraged idea that through your individual choices you will make a noticeable difference, that the cause of the problem is our consumption choices is one which industry and globalised corporations would love you to believe. These views detract from the key players, they remove any sense of accountability from those who actually hold the power in our capitalist globalised world. Money and purchasing power run the show.
@ds9quark it's not my video so youtube will not link me link it. There's over 20 vids though. Just type EV2 electric jeep into youtube search. I'm not "holier than thou" but I am sick of NIMBYs.
In response to ds9quark ; we do not have to keep producing electricity with coal and continue to power our transportation grid with oil. This is why you need to join us and help push our civilization off fossil fuels. The technology is here.
@maureenhackett I just read an article about new inventions, and how patents can be turned down by the state siting a privacy bill if the invention threatens... well, whatever the state sees as a comprise to the "statues quo".
@ds9quark you are naive sir, and so are the NIMBYs. It has been calculated we can power countries on renewables, but just like the tabacco lobbyists there is major support to destroy us all still.
@rinalas Why do you think I am not with this ?.. why the holier than thou attitude ?. been chided once too often that every comment becomes a confrontation ?.
BTW: I will vote for $2 per gallon on the price of gasoline to go towards alternative energy research. and a reduction of $0.50 per gallon on diesel. You'd see huge impact within a month or two. Frivelous miles reduced substantially, stupid SUVs off the road, more people riding bikes and trains. I ride my bicyle to work three times a week (32 or so round trip), we need to change lifestyles at every level to generate impact. become locovors, use energy efficient devices. and more..
@ds9quark SMH...absolutely clueless of how an economy works or how reality works. You have your own opinions about how things should be and you want the government to force people to live that way...you're just as bad as those social conservatives trying to make it so women can't have abortions.
then you'd better support freeing every prisoner in the United States because prison guards and cops have the easiest stress-free jobs. Real "hard" work, yeah riiiiight. They do nothing but tell prisoners how to live, 24 hours a day.

@solarstoned34 Right...we only have to build 510,000 square kilometers of solar panels...that's totally as cheap and easy as chopping down trees.

Time to leave all fossil fuel in the past and look for alternatives. Yes, it can be done.

nicely done but naive. the electricity used to produce this along to operate every device you see on the video is from fossil
fuels!
