@n0rv33zy I bought an 85 Conquista for 6.5k with a 350 engine brand new, but 80k on the tranny. It's worth it, trust me. Unlike his, though, I ripped out all the computer controls. Ruins a beautiful car like this =P
Though one thing in question is the engine, Did you drop a new engine in? If not check your VIN number again 85 SS stock was a 5.0L 305 (one of the worst engines chevy ever made).

you must be like 12 or something big monte carlo fan im guessing
elaustino85...is it a stock engine? if so its a 305. the 350 wasnt even an option. i just started on my 84 ss n threw in a 355, and in my opinionit would be a great upgrade if your stock.....sweet car btw.
Goddamn nice car el camino. the 85 el camino ss is probably the best out of the series. I just finished buffering my paint job on mine. Dark red with grey bottom on it. Such a sexy ride. I always get laid when i pick up chicks in my car.
REALLY Search, I Got Mine For $250 And Needed An Engine And I Just Got Added A 385 Fastburn To It (Total Cost Around 5k And I Could Easilly Sell It For 10)
does anyone know of any 79-85 el caminos for sale around 1000 bucks because ive worked for a year now and i really need my first car and i want to haul my dirt bikes but still have something i can drop my 327 in! message me if you know!
It's a conquista. To me there never has been an SS. That is just a decal package you can get on your car. Im glad you don't have that because it's better lookin' with out it.
its not an SS, i can tell by looking at it...but how much did your xhaust cost? i got an 85 el camino, fully loaded...floor shift, reclining seats (i know you cant recline)
How do you know for a fact it is not a SS? Theres vary little noteable cosmetic diffrences between the Standard and Supersport in the 80's primary diffrence was under the hood, as the SS was a proformence package, The 60's to mid 70's SS packages had slight alterations to the body aswell as proformence upgrades over the normal package. But the 80's variations had little to no body alterations between the two (unless you count the SS symble on the grill or bed latch).
Wrong, the 85 SS el camino with automatic transmission had a bench seat and collum shift. The Manual 85 SS had a floor shift and bucket seat. This is standard for allmost all 70's to mid 80's Chevy SS models to have a collum shift on automatic's, due to this bench seating was used in the automatic's becuse they didnt have the need for a console down the center for a stick. So i dont know where you pulled out that conclusion from.
did you have to put the bed trim on yourself after it was painted? I just painted mine and I have no clue how to get the trim back on its sooo hard! any help would be great!
That's a badass Elco. I had an 82 Conquista, and I put a 327 from a 70 or 72 Chevelle in it, and Edelbrock carb. Man, hang on to that beauty. I wish I still had mine. There's a 66 El Camino on You Tube, from Gateway classics, for sale, check it out, I'd buy that one if I had the money. Anyways, awesome Camino.
Don't ever let go of it.

As for the "iroc" no those are limited to the IROC edittion and Choochoo custom. It was not stock on the standard 85 SS elky.

a 85 el camino SS should have bucket seats with a shifter in the floor. not a split 60/40 and a console shifter. i say that is a conquista
