Huh? I don't get the video's concept. Videos were so inane and tacking back in the day, with the exception of MJ and Madonna's videos. Cool song though!
I remember his other hit from '82, 'The Other Woman'. I always think of 'Ghostbusters' when hearing this tune which came out two years after this one.
MTV chose not to air this video because of the interracial content. However, five years later, John Mellencamps music video aired a controversial video involving an African-American male dancing with a white female. Ironically, producers opted to underlight the couple so that one might not distinguish between black and white which is a real shame. I was not fooled by it and I can tell that it was an interracial couple dancing and that would hardly bother me nor anyone else who love rock.
@DalekPlague MTV wasnt shit when it came to being fair with black artists. They claimed to be strictl yrock but you cant tell me Madonna and Wham were rock. If Madonna was black and sand the same songs, she would have been called R&B and left off MTV. Rick JAmes was crossing voer with Superfreak and they would not put him on. He at least had the balls to call them out on it back then. SO did David Bowie in an interview with pussy VJ Mark Goodman. Wish I could find that footage.
Correction: Eddie Murphy in the other movie looks perfect as a vampire than Ray Parker, Jr. I would prefer the other music video "The Other Woman" where Ray Parker Jr. looks better than as a vampire.
Seeing Ray Parker, Jr. partially caked in white reminds me of that famous 1972 blaxploitation horror film "Blacula." Nevertheless, Eddie Murphy looks better as a vampire in one film that Parker's vampire look.
It was this very song that helped break down color barriers in the racially charged, "1980s." He was the smoothest operator R&B has ever known, and a man well ahead of his time. Arnell Carmichael was his perfect compliment, but Ray Parker Jr. was the heart-and-soul of "Raydio." His voice is still heard, and his words are understood. His touch shall be felt throughout time, and his artistic gifts will always be remembered and appreciated.
This was a brokedown Thriller

Hmm. . .this song and video came out in 1982, pre-dating MJ's "Thriller" video by
at least a year. . .But eerily similar, huh?
