  • LOVE the jeans.Alright fellow ex Macy's employee! Have an "outstanding" day!(remember that?) lol

  • So im completely in love with 7 for all mankind jeans also. And i just want to know different people that you have bought from on ebay that you trust. I always feel like im going to get played when i got on ebay but it would help out my budget a lot! Thank You!

  • you should put the topics discussed in the show as the title after the date rather than an overall view of what the show in general will cover.

it will make it easier for new subscribers to scroll through videos and find what they're looking for u quickly

  • is your hair in this video the result of a basic twist-out?? the curls look tighter. ?

  • hi kimmay, ive learned so much from u in the little time that i have been natural..which have been 4months..thank u please keep up the good work!!!!!!!

  • "talking slowly" it's maybe time consumming, but it's good for me, because I'm french, and I can understand what you are telling! lol and thanks for all these tips ;)

  • Cool video! I see that great personality of yours coming out more and more! Let it shine! We'll still see that you are serious about what you do. By the way, during the jeans talk, I loved that jewelry stand you had! I have so many necklaces that, although I have a very nice jewelry box, it's overflowing! Where'd you get yours, if you don't mind sharing?

  • Awesome! I am addicted to this.

Can you do a vid on working out? I need your arms LOL :)

  • The movie Stepford wives was not what I expected I rented years ago after it came out. It was almost sci-fi to me and so unrealistic in most respects.

  • I just want to say thank you for catering to your INTERNATIONAL SUBBIES, YOU TAKE EVERYTHING INTO CONSIDERATION!! YAYYYYYYYYYY

  • Hi Kim, I love your channel and your hair in this video looks terrific. You mentioned some time ago that you would do a braidout tutorial. Maybe I missed it but I didn't see it on your channel. Did you ever get the opportunity to do it? I would love to see it. Again, I love your channel, great information!! Thanks for your contributions to the natural hair community :)

  • I have been following all your natural hair care videos and love them! Im currently transitioning my hair to its natural state. I have found your videos informative and encouraging!!! Although I know I have a journey to get back to my healthy natural hair, I feel that I will have the resources, information, and tips about natural hair care, fashion, etc. I commend you for a job well done and keep up the good work within the natural hair care group on Youtube!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for the info about trimming. For generations my family has been brain washed/ brain washing us about the so called importance of consistant trimming. Once you broke down the science it all made sence: Damaged hair caused by consistant heat and chemical treatments make trimming neccicary for maintence but if you are preserving your hair correctly (little to no heat, perserving the ends) then trimming is just for show...Right? at least thats how i understand it.

    Thanks again!!

  • BJ's wholesale carries seven jeans for about 25.00!

  • BJ's wholesale carries seven jeans!

  • My views on gender roles come from the Word of God (the Bible). It's pretty interesting how there are sooo many negative comments about the Bible. It is the only source of peace in this world. I stand on it alone for how to live. It never changes, not even to the "cultural norms" of the day. That's why it is my source for living, I don't want to ever stray away from the Author and Creator of us All. He's done too much for us. Good show!

  • You can also get 7 jeans for cheap at stores like Ross and Marshalls, that's where I get mine! :)

  • how tall are you?

  • Ok Luvie dove, now u know you've got us sitting on the edge of the tube waiting to see the next show drop...lol. But take your time girlfriend. I know that you have a life besides making vids for us :) I'm grateful tht you enjoy doing this in a way tht is entertaining, while also delivering great information. Keep up the great work bc you may be on to something..maybe our next "Oprah," seriously, that's how good u are. Btw, ur hair looks great. U have really done a great job taking care of it!

  • Ok Luvie dove, now you know you've got us sitting on the edge of the tube waiting to see the next show drop...lol. But take your time girlfriend. I know that you have a life besides making vids for us :) and we should just be grateful that you enjoy doing this in a way that is entertaining and also delivering great information. I know that I am. Keep up the great work because you may be on to something ... hmmm, maybe the next "Oprah" of you-tube.... go Kim!

  • hey kim! just wanted to thank you for all your tips. i was standing on the abyss of yet another chemical treatment to my hair and God directed my steps to you and i must say the 2wk i have been watching you(and others)my natural is amazing! i am 54 and NEVER knew i had a curl pattern! by the way, i placed a order on your site on late thursday and got it today - very impressed!! thanks curlfriend! i have never loved my hair like this! keep up the good work! continued success and many blessings

  • I think people are so influenced by the media when it comes to gender roles. Whether it's tv, magazines, movies...... but, others may stick to tradition influenced by parents or friends.

  • You do you Kimmay, well wait.......but may be bitting my nails until then but hey what can I say :)))) Just a subbie who love the videos.

  • Hey Kim, I think you should rename the show the Weekly show or something so you're not pressured to do everything in time for the weekend. That way if you're too busy during the week, you can work on the show on the weekends (assuming you are more free then) I know the feeling of perfecting something till it's right. As long as it's reaching a goal of a show once a week. That's just my suggestion.

  • Ooops... I forgot to watch the movie this weekend! Yikes! The Hubby and I just go with the flow... He's the Yin and I'm the Yang... With the current economy, we're in complete role reversal, and it works fine for us.... Because daycare for three kids in OC quite expensive---especially considering how picky I can be about daycare.

  • waiting for that next video.. lol stayin up just for that.

  • I love your hair and the shirt! I want one! lol

  • I am like a crackhead waiting for episode 5. However I know how it can be, trying to balance all of life's demands, so I will be patient.

  • @deeplynluv

LOL!. I'm working on it right now. I've been filming it editing, reading through the comments from the last video all day. I think this one may barely make it up Sunday--it'll probably be uploaded in the wee hours of Monday. What can I say? It was a busy week with a bit of travel thrown in. Plus, I won't put up a show until I feel it's good enough. ne day I'll have a regular show time, but not until I get to the point when footage has been taped weeks in advance. ;o)

  • @deeplynluv so glad to see i'm not alone! if there's a record for refreshing youtube subscriptions it would be mine.

  • @msvateme and mine...lol

  • @deeplynluv me tooo!! I cannnot wait to see it. I really enjoy it.

  • @deeplynluv KimLuv where are you...miss your videos!

  • Hi Kimmaytube. Doing my Sunday ritual - pampering my hair and laundry and other household things. Looking for the Sunday show. Can't wait! Keep the great videos coming! :-)

  • i got a sense of gender roles from my parents. both had full time jobs, cooked, did chores around the house and disciplined the kids. it wasn't a perfect household but it wasn't that certain "jobs" were geared for my mom and others for my dad. yes, dad did the yardwork and mom did the laundry but it had nothing to do with their gender...that's what they wanted to do. to demonstrate how that has affected me, my husband does the laundry and i do the yardwork, i like it and i hate doing laundry.

  • i want one of those shirts...

  • 7 For All Mankind are nice jeans. I've never owned a pair because they don't make them in my size. The sizes are actually smaller then what is written on the tags (imo). But, I love the variety of washes and designs they have. I wish they'd make bigger sizes. At Saks outlet, they sell them for $99 and when they have their 15-20% specials, they are definitely worth purchasing :)

  • You are amazing!!! Not sure if this is the correct place to respond to your question to about where do you think people get their perceptions of peoples roles in life and relationships.

I believe people get their views from several places to include: their parents (how they are raised), religion, and tv ( to include movies etc...).

  • Hi Kimmay, great show! I love how your drive and discipline has propelled you into pursuing your passions and making them work for you. Can you give some pointers on becoming a consultant/entrepreneur in a future video or show? Thanks!

  • I love your videos and I've been sharing your leave in conditioner video with my other natural friends. My ideals of gender roles in marriage stem from my parent's who were married over 50 years. They had 8 children and my dad was the pastor of a small, family-oriented church. We all pitched in and did whatever needed to be done around the house and both of my parents worked outside of the home. I pray that everything that you touch prospers!

    Lili

  • Hi Kimmay,

I'm really feling your channel, and have learned alot from you regarding hair, fashion, and charity work. Keep up the great work!

Quick question: the new wave out seems to be Brazilian Karatin Treatments for people with natural hair...What do you think about it, and is it something you would try?

  • My comment dissapeared?!

Basically, I got my first instructions on gender roles from the church. I look back & see the damage done to women. Using the Bible, which was written in a time when women were literally considered property and their virginity was the most valuable thing about them, to decide roles for women today is harmful. W/ education & living, I know that it is my unique role to work within my gifts and to fall back when someone else's gift is my weakness, regardless of gender

  • @taramsmi

I think some of our parents/grandparents used certain scriptures as absolute. Like when Paul stated women should be silent in church and be taught by their husbands. If someone reads one scripture and determines that this is the way that women or men should be, they are not interpreting the word correctly, the word has to read in its entirety to be understood. I'm running out of character spacing.

  • @taramsmi Also, people do not realize that when the bible says man most of the time this included women. Like spanish there could be 5 women and one men and they would all be called ellos, which is masculine.I do not believe God took out time to create me to be only a servant of a man and/or mother. He gave me a word and the holy spirit to guide me as one of his chosen people. People who have used the bible to have women believe they should be property has harmed how many people see their roles

  • hi kimmay, which day will the show come out on weekly? and are you only going to do weekend shows or other stuff too? btw, i love your channel!!! ooooooo

  • @anewmeePassion

Hi there! I'm uploading a new show tomorrow (Sunday) evening. I'll put out an annoucement for it sometime in the afternoon. Washing my hair--it's like an 8 hour process! :o)

  • @kimmaytube Agh! There should be a set day/time. I don't like saying this -- but it's aggravating. I love your videos, kimmaytube, and know you're still working out the kinks with your show. But,. I always end up missing your show, the day it's uploaded. And yes, I'm subscribed to your channel.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling I'll be missing this week's Weekend Show because I'll be putting in lots of time at the office on Sunday.

  • I think the Bible is a dangerous and hurtful tool in instilling gender 'roles' where women are expected to have been made as an instrument to help men reach their potentials. Maybe, in biblical times, that was progressive. But without a serious history lesson, following those rules today forces women to function as helpers to men as they would have then while also needing to function as their equals in order to survive (money, socially, etc.) It's doing double duty.

  • @taramsmi I don't think that bible is that dangerous of a tool to instilling gender. I just think that because of the changes that had been done in the world we just can't try to do exactly was was suppose to be done according to the bible in our century. We women HAVE TO work because of the life price and our lifestyle (buying continuouly new stuffs). I realize that people with mentalety of our time can't understand people in the past cuz what's important for us is not what was 4 them.

  • Gen 3:16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

“I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.” 1 Timothy 2:12-14

    ...

  • @Godnmusic

Deuteronomy 22: 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. [a] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

I'd like to think we are moving in the right direction. Perhaps, in biblical times, these verses and perspectives were the catalyst for progress, but NOW, they are harmful as anything other than history.

  • @taramsmi WELL SAID!

  • Thanks to your tips (as well as some of my other fav youtubers from the natural community) my hair has grown tremendously in one year! Not only that but the condition of my hair has greatly improved. I love your new show and you are so professional. Continue working within your gifts and talents. God bless!

  • Oh, I prefer Friday.

  • Do you have shirts available for sale the the one you're wearing in the video?

Love your channel, keep them coming.

  • Kimmay your brain fart @ 12:11 makes you very endearing. I do that all the time! Most folks would have edited out but I like that you kept a small "blooper" in.

  • I'm actually taking a Psych of Gender class this semester and we read an article by Nancy Chodorow (I believe) last week. One of the interesting points that I took away was that males form their ideas of what men are abstractly and from negativity.

  • OMG!... Kimmay your hair looks soooooo amazing! Please tell me that you have a hair tutorial for this particular style? If you don't have one, could you make one please?

  • Love the show but prefer it to air on Fridays. When I didn't see it Friday or Saturday, I thought you just didn't do a show last weekend. Keep 'em coming =].

  • Gurlllll you have to pay for those jeans? lol

    I get em' free.

  • I learned my concept of gender roles from my parents. Mine are older and retired now, but both parents worked when I was a kid. However, it was obvious that my dad was the head and my mom followed him kicking and screaming, lol. My dad paid the mortgage, took out the trash and mowed the lawn. My mom provided the food, and did most of child rearing and cleaning.

  • I have seen Stepford Wives & I think the movie was pretty comical. I am a bit old-fashioned when it comes to gender roles bc I think the majority of child-rearing and housekeeping should be done by the woman. However, I don't think the man should do nothing. Families r a system that need to work *together* & that's where failure often occurs. Men should be the head of the household bc it is natural for the males to lead (in a manner that is suitable for his family to live happily & comfortably).

  • Kimmay, have you ever seen the movie "Quills" with Kate Winslet, Geoffrey Rush, et al? I don't know if you'd like it... but it's my favourite movie. ^_^ It's pretty powerful.

  • You are so freaking cute...oh yeah....informative as well. :-)

  • abou the movie: stepford wives; i thought it was really funny. i got my idea about gender roles about men and women from my parents. Keep up the great work!

  • enjoyed the show, your hair is really growing. It looks great!

  • Just want to say that I really loved the episode and are you selling that shirt on your site? I would love to rock one of those shirts!

  • Hey Mrs. Love do you think you could also talk about different books to read in your weekend show? I like movies, but I love books. I hope you can, but if not thanks for thinking about it.

  • I believe that most people get their gender roles from the parents or close family members. Me personally I learned mainly from my mother(currently divorced) and my grandmother(widow). I was taught how to be independent, and how handle business but I was never taught how to be a "good" wife. That has cause me to find my own path. I had to learn how to be a "good" wife, and I'm still learning.

  • Girl if that aint the best idea I've ever heard about jean shopping. You just gave me the idea to snap photos of clothes in the store. Jot down all the info you mentioned in your vid and search for them online. Thanks for the tip Kim

  • the ideas of gender roles come from the environment a person grows up around. This idea of roles comes into the argument of nature vs nurture. Naturally males and females have different attributes they ae born with, but the nurturing of a persona comes from the direct outside influence of those around them.

  • LUV that shirt you're wearing!!! :)

  • Great show, loved the topics! Boo hoo, I missed entering the content. Anyhow, I think the greatest influences on gender roles are learned from parents, grandparents, etc. A lot mimic what they had seen or learned while growing up.

  • Enter Me

  • gender roles: come from family and friends. i know kids who didn't consume mainstream media growing up and still picked up beliefs from family friends.

  • to me kimmy i have to say gender roles i have been taught or feel it's came from my grandparents

  • I own that movie and its awesomeness...lol

  • Enter me

  • I think people get their ideas of gender roles from the media...of course! We're constantly bombarded with Ax commercials, Cover Girl, fragrances, fashion, celebrities, etc. We're told to look this way, act that way. So many people will copy their fav celeb (nicki minaj, beyonce, lady gaga, various rappers, athletes, etc) bc they'll see the opposite sex really loves that image and people will think that's what they have to be to become popular.

  • hey the vid u give a link to it shows up as private and will not give me access

  • The new (2004) Stepford Wives is a comedic view of gender roles and the desire for perfection, however, the original (1975) Stepford Wives is more about gender abuse. It's actually a horror film. The desire for perfection and "being on top of one's game" at the expense of others, is too great a price to pay. Achieving one's personal goals with a spirit of excellence AND helping others achieve their goals, is a true measure of success, whether one is male or female. -- Great job Kim!

  • Great video!I love the topic regarding gender roles. It is something that is very much debated these days.Gender roles can be obtained from home and society and what it promotes thorugh the media. They can also be obtained through religious belief or practices. However i would say that the western world in leaning more towards secularism the gender roles these days tend to reflect that and whichever one chooses it has a greater effect on society as a whole! Great topic though! :)

  • Enter Me

  • The original Stepford Wives in the 70s had a darker (thus better) approach to showing how expendable women could be in a society where men expect the "perfect - submissive mate" I think gender roles are still influenced by several factors such as: culture, biblical/religious influence, and social-economic demands. Economic demands have really influenced gender roles. If the female mate makes much more money, the other mate is willing to take on the stereotypically "female role" at home.

  • poor kimmay, always gotta shout out the slow ppl, smh

  • People, I believe, get their ideas of gender roles from whomever is raising them. For me, alot of what I heard growing up was "you're the girl, so you need to (fill in whatever "girls are supposed to do"...i.e. cook, clean, stay home, not be loud, etc)".

And thank you for the jewelry display tip!

  • I think the movie Stepford Wives is a commentary about how men view women. When I was married I had to check my husband about him treating me as if he wanted a perfect woman. There is no way in H I would try to live up to anybodies standards of perfection. I notice that trend with men, they will be quick to criticize but will never accept responsibility for their own actions. If you criticize them they will act like there is something wrong with you. I like your movie pics.

  • OK I have to say that I am lovin the mix of entertainment topics. I Love to see motivated people come up with ideas and watch their processes. Keep up the great work.

  • The StepFord Wives was good. It funny to see a woman was behind whole "grand plan". It just goes back to, behind every good man is a great woman. People get their

"roles" by what they see indirectly or directly growing up. But I believe a true "role" should be imaged after the bible's purpose for men and women. Eve was created to help Adam. However, a woman's God given self purpose and identity shouldnt be lost in the midst in developing and supporting her man.Proverbs31:10-31,empowered woman!

  • @bbnne1 no that's not what I mean :) I mean that I believe that is "how "gender roles are designated to certain sexes. Sex and gender are two different things; sex consists of the physical while gender is an abstract ideas constructed by society (social constructions) which are only maintained by general consensuses unfortunately. I don't believe that men should be masculine or women feminine since they are only constructed ideas really :) Just like ideas such as right, wrong, and morality.

  • she looks soo tiny. lol.

  • I adopted my gender roles from the bible. Love the hair!

  • @honeychild713 Amen

  • @honeychild713 same here girl!!!! my husband is my head.

  • I'm going to Cirque de Soleil in 2 weeks. I can't I went to the harbor to buy my tics on sunday...Yippy

  • Kim, great show! By the way,t his weekend I found Curls @ Target! I was shocked. It was located in the black hair section. Thanks for the tips!

  • the ending shocked me the most when the man was the robot and how the woman really had to idea of what women should be. Now as i look at it women do have an idea what men want but in the end its only self destruction

  • lol my mom would always cuss me for wearing only jeans!

  • would definitely buy that t-shirt Kim!

  • Love the t-shirt..look at those arms!

  • I believe most people get their ideas of gender roles from the home they grow up in.

  • i enjoyed the movie. sometimes i wish i could be more of a stepford wife. lol. i'm a Bible student so i try to live me life by what the Bible says. the role of the husband is to take care of his family financially, physically but most importantly spiritually. and the wife's role is to be a helper to her husband and the caretaker of the home and children. but these role are not as rigid as some people think. for example, the wife can help by work, and the husband can cook/clean also.

  • Wow!I totally got distracted by your gawjus hair and hoping I was able to get into the contest.I learned gender roles from my parents and my community around me(including TV).

  • I love that t-shirt!!! and your rocking it kim!...where can I get one?

  • I've read the chicorro book and it is a great read! great prize kim!

  • Hello, thanks for the vid, again fantastic to watch. In response to your question about gender roles. There are many influences in todays' society, Mainly through media, feminist groups, through family and many societies have cultural models in which they adhere to such as the scandinavian model in which countries such as Norway and netherlands adopt.. There was a theorist (cant remember hes name at the moment) but he outlined all the models for most western countries and they are so relevant

  • I got my information about gender roles from my parents. As a toddler, both my mom and dad worked and they chose to put me in daycare, but then my father got injured on the job and was forced to go on disability. That left me daycare free and morning and afternoon's hanging with my dad (it also left me spoiled rotten lol). It taught me that men and women can work (and get along and stay married despite a woman making more than a man). Nowadays I feel kids get gender roles from TV & film.

  • that movie annoyed me. I watched it when it first came out. The reason it annoyed me so much was because the women were featured as dumb, mindless housewives and there are still females today that believe that is their only role in society... to be the slaves of men

  • Hair Question: How long do you normally keep in your twists, and what do you do to maintain them during that time?

  • Hey Kim, I prefer the older Stepford Wives movie in the 70s (tells my age). It was much darker than the remake. However, I like the twist at the end. Very clever!

  • I can't tell you how much I appreciate these weekend shows. It gives me something to look forward to after my long week of classes ; )

  • Kimmay I love how your hair looks, is that a twistout ? I truly look forward to your weekend shows, the manner in which you have shown vision and direction in executing it is inspirational. Thanks for showing that anything is possible when you are passionate.

  • Kimmay I love how your hair looks, is that a twistout ? I truly look forward to your weekend shows, the manner in which you have shown vision and direction in executing your vision is inspirational. Thanks for showing that anything is possible when you are passionate.

  • EBAY!!! I <3 EBAY as well, joined in 2000 and havent stopped! Thanks for sharing your 7's!!

  • I luv your weekend shows! The best thing since sliced bread! When you first spoke about your vision on the pilot show I thought, awww snooze fest, but I was wrong! Thank you sooo much for doing something different on youtube!

  • BTW, I LOVE eBay! That was seriously my "occupation" during my freshman year of college. I sold all of my old clothes and American dolls (lol) and earned more than $500 that year. i was rollin' in money from eBay!

  • I just want to say that sometimes gender roles can hinder people from being themselves, and the worst thing a person could do is not be who they feel that they really are.

  • . For example since I am a woman I have to do certain domestic duties that my husband is not expected to do. This is just one of many cultural norms that we have embraced through out the centuries. And because my husband is a man he's not suppose to cry??? There are so many that I could list but I think you all understand where I am going.

  • Hi Kim,

I am glad that you brought up this topic for us to discuss. I think many of us get our gender role stereotypes from our parents, the media, our ideology from our cultural back ground. There so many factors that go into gender role stereotypes and, I think when we push gender roles on to each other you may set expectation on to one another that they he or she may or may not meet.

  • That shirt is to cute! I love watching your vids it's so much infromation.

  • be careful who you buy from on ebay!!! i've been burned already and i just started using them!

  • They also so 7 jeans at Loehmann's for good price.

  • I adapted my ideals about gender roles simply from church and my family. Glad you brought this subject up because it was a recent "debate" in my household (not on a negative note). But I noticed some things about my husband, and it only stems from the house HE grew up in :)

  • Omg!!!!!! I loved Stepford Wives this movie was a five star for me. I loved how Nicole Kidman and Bette Midler played their parts and its very crazy how you can make a person do what you want them to do, by making them a happy person. And it was funny how all the men looked up the Mike lol. Loved,Loved,Loved this movie.

  • Great show! I love the concept. I think that gender roles are learned at home. My husband does the laundry, ironing, vacuuming and takes out the trash while I do most of the cooking, dishes & other cleaning. We both work. If we have a child, s/he will not feel that women are to do all the chores.

  • As far as the Gender roles go My opinion, and where I got it from. Itstarted with my parents. Home first, then church, then school, and work. All these places they all has a way that we as who we are ( gender wise) supposed to be. Mainly the Bible. God gave Adam a role to play, just like he gave Eve. We as the people, supposed to to do as we are instructed by God or whomever to do.

you right, Ebay is the place for everything. Just be careful. Your hair is pretty Kimmay. love the Tshirt.

  • aw man i keep missing the contest! maybe next time =)

  • I used to work at Macy's too...Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey LOL

  • enter me

  • thank you kimmaytube for everything you do for use.

  • Hi Kimmie, So glad I got to rate u this week. U have so many subbies that I cannot get on to comment or rate some times. Thanks for your channel. I'm in the army and I travel quite bet and I love your tips. I realize a lot of my issues with going natural have to do with weather and climate when travel from state to state. Not sure if this is something u can address and how to retain moisture in the winter (temps below say 50 degrees or below) if not its cool. Love your channel. Be Blessed.

  • For "The Stepford Wives" My husband and I watched the original movie from the 70's and compared it with the modern retake. It's a little scary how so many things change, yet stay the same in what a ideal woman should be.

  • your hair is so extra fabulous this show!!

  • I want the t-shirt Kim!

  • Great job as usual. You look so cute as usual. Your hair is on pt. Luv it.

  • i agree that lots of ppl get their ideas of the roles of gender from their parents, but nowadays i believe that mass media in all its forms have more of an influence than we may realize. whether it's from pop songs, movies--and even fashion--we're molded on a daily basis towards gender expectations that we are not always consciously aware of.

  • Kim your hair is SO PRETTY!! I LOVE IT! Watching your videos has seriously made me consider going natural again. It's a tough choice but I'm considering :-)

Again, thanks for being so giving and so sweet, I wish you ALL the best of luck!!

P.S. You have THEE best clothes! I watch you and am motivated to go to the gym!! :-)

  • Like Fri/Sat better than Sun. 7 jeans are awesome, try Citizens of Humanity! I saw Stepford Wives years ago & thought it was cute. Initially, my views on gender roles came from my mother&church. As an adult, I gather them from media and personal relationships. I still find that in this "modern" society, traditional roles are still more widely accepted as the norm. My husband is a stay-at-home dad (& working musician), while I am a go-to-work mom (& main breadwinner). People think we're weird.

  • I have gotten my gender roles in the past from the examples (parents) set before me. However, since they were mostly wrong considering that I now follow the ways of God and the teachings of His Son Jesus, I now get my gender role from the bible no exceptions. Today I think most people get their ideas from tv (mostly children) and the environment depending on where the environment and I think its sad that we have no one training children on these things.

  • I can not believe you got those jeans from eBay! I've been watching this other YTber that sales 7 all mankind jeans. I'll have to check eBay out.

  • Your hair is so cute in this vid! Loving the spiral curls. Cute show :-)

  • I was just wondering...have you shown your hair in a fro recently? I would love to see it! If you have, which video was it? I'll go back and look. Love the thoroughness of your videos, especially the weekend show. Keep up the good work! btw...so funny you mention getting ripped off on the earring stand. I just bought the harp style on ebay for $26 last week, and found the same one yesterday on Amazon for $12. Now I know!

  • ugh i wish i was 18 - i want those books!!!!

  • @UnprocessedBeauty me too!!!

  • Cont'd...I think it's pretty crazy to see how powerful those social processes can be since though gender roles are changing (very slowly) and they are some ppl who choose to completely divert away from "standardized" gender roles, most people still follow them and many kids therefore are still learning somewhat fixed gender roles. I could go on and on about this. But that was my take on it ;)

BTW: I am loving your fashion tips and the way your hair looks in this show.

    Thank you ^_^

  • Without watching the movie yet, I would say I got my ideas about gender roles from my own parents, other kid's parents, movies, children book stories, cartoons, novels,...and finally college classes and discussions. I would definitively argue that gender roles are not fixed or innate. They are taught, observed, we learn to internalize them through observation, inactment, socialization and reinforcement from both our peers, family members, society, the world around us...

  • Loved your show!!! I loved the Stepford Wives!!!

  • Kimmay - check out this you tube vid by Chary Jay(PSA - Support Your Fellow Naturals Businesses)! It has a diva-vicious pic of you that I think you should use in your banner or somewhere on your page girl. You look soooo pretty in this pic (you always do anyway). But this pic is on point.

  • i signed up for netflix earlier this year but cancelled my service because i was going off of co-worker recommendations for movies (being that i'm not a movie buff) and it was the typical "black" movies that i just "had" to see but in all honesty it's not my taste any more. not that anything is wrong with "black" movies just not all the time. thanks for exposing all of us to a different choice in movies. i've made more use out of my netflix now then ever before.

  • Hey girl, I see you put my comment in the video this week. I saw the Stepford Wives in the movies when it came it. I was honestly freaked out by it, but I was so proud of the newest couple for not going through "the process" That was so crazy. They had even gotten Condalisa Rice! Any who, I get my gender role ideas from my grandmother. I study everything she did in her relationship with my grandfather . . . . and I do the exact opposite.

  • Hi Kimmay!!!! Your hair is on point! It has grown sooooo much in comparison from only just a year ago when you began making vids. Also, where can we get the cute luv naturals tee? I hope you plan to see them on your website :) Proud of you girl!

  • Gender Roles - I received my knowledge/training on "gender roles" from watching my parents when I was younger. They shared doing everything. My dad and mom both cooked, when my dad would be cutting the grass, my mom would take him something to drink or already be outside "playing" in her garden. My dad and I washed the cars together and once I got older, I took over most of the chores b.c. I felt that was the least I could do for my parents...both worked. I know, I know "brady bunch"....
