  • Better than I Ran. Love this song.

  • Jimmy Carlin Color Theory brought me to this song

  • I believe this song is by far and away their greatest piece of work. It encapsulates the 80's new wave sound, and yet at the same time, it is timeless. They were so much more than "I Ran".

  • i cant listen to this song without watching color theory

  • This was exactly the kind of music like Depeche Mode, etc. that was beyond uncool to like. It was the kind of music you hear through the walls from your sisters bedroom and feel vaguely threatened by, since it wasn't the Ramones or Black Flag. Yet I knew even then this was a decent tune. Hannah Montana doesn't really do that to me these days. Poor kids.

  • hear that....!!!!

  • 80s progressiv rock \m/

  • I've had just a small part of the tune of this song in my head for days, so i've had it rolling around in there coming up with the odd word per day, eventually came up enough of a sentence for me to type in google to come up with the band and song name, i love this song even after several days of torture trying to remember. thanks for posting..great 80s synth music..another song bringing back memories

  • its called "stuck in amber" i guess, and i like it there

  • Just Heard This song On The Box Set Of Ashes To Ashes ....... Gene Hunt And Great Music .... Happy Bunny

  • jimmy carlin is a prefesional skateboader who uses this song in one of his video parts

  • I ask the same question as the guy below:

Who the fuck is Jimmy Carlin!?

I'm here only because after hearing 'I ran' on the radio, I became intrested in their music. They're a great band and don't need anyone to make them more liked.

  • @Stroija Pro skater, used the song in his videos. HES AMAZING

  • Who the fuck is Jimmy Carlin? Great song btw

  • @bassted666 great skater, look him up

  • this was the song my wife listened to while giving birth to our baby girl, Samantha, we love you!

  • A Flock of Seagulls took electronic music in a direction it had never gone before. Like true artists they crafted songs to be unique expressions of their collective imagination. Compositions like this have an under-appreciated depth when contrasted to the rest of their genre. In 1990 I was lucky enough to see them (actually Mike Score with a backup band) in a really small venue (now defunct Cotati Caberet). He still had that famous hairdo and I felt starstruck watching him a mere 15 feet away.

  • god whats wrong with music nowadays? cant it be like this all the time? dear lord. I LOVE THIS MUSIC & IMA BE 15 IN 9 DAYS!!

  • @yadiluvzyew13 dude I'm with you on that. just turned 18 myself

  • @GambitCretu right?! gosh grrr revolutionized music demand!!!

  • I love this song so much

  • Jimmy carlin!

  • fuck the 2000s! the 90s, 80s, and 70s where the shit! :D

  • ohh the guitar outro makes me moist everytime

  • maybe we can borrow Dr. who`s Tardis to go back to the 80`s

  • Oh, to be 14 again in the early 80's again. Sigh.

  • @dupont94 You said it, great times. I, too, was 14 when this came out. Guilty pleasure then, favorite list now.

  • Type in Console Warriors Vicious Fishus...you WILL enjoy

  • An incredible song, from a group with very good songs, and a terrible image.

  • took Jimmy Carlin to get me to like this song

  • Hey! That's Chandler Bing!

  • My girlfriend wondwers why I take so many pictures of her

  • still one of my favorite songs, as for the group, thats a different story

  • good

  • Quality!

  • Favorite song EVER

  • Still is one the best song out there. It was than said that this song was ahead of it's time.

  • Why is this version slower?

  • @MDaveTAwesomeM Slower? This is the proper version. I've never heard any other version.

  • I would love to see a full orchestra do this song...

  • like I always say, only the best talent from liverpool :D

  • I always liked this song.. don't know why, lol. maybe because I'm always stoned when I listen to it.

  • this was on jimmy carlins color theory part

  • color theory!!!

  • 4 people don't have a photograph of me...

  • @sosodevious I thought about it just now

  • Are they spelling something in sign language on the album cover?

  • This song is great

  • i'm high

  • Love this AWESOME Happy memories from the 1980's

  • @julianmarkhatton be awsome to bring back the 80s

  • cool!

  • me encantaria que estuviera el video original...era padrisimo

  • If I had a photograph oooffff you

  • i went out with paul reynolds for a while....he was awesome

  • Very beautiful melody but production could have been better. Besides the song should be shorter about half a minute - the ending of the song is simply too long.

  • There are some Chinese melodies in this song. Anybody notice them?

In fact, this song makes me reminisce over my past girlfriend from Monterrey Park. Too bad she moved back to HK else we probably would have been married.

    *Sighs*

  • The kind-a were the laughing stock back in the day, and in the nineties, but listening back., It's safely to say 'Flock' produced some pretty pretty pretty awesome tunes.

  • 3 people didn't make a wish

  • JIMMY CARLIN!!!!

  • Looooooove it!

  • So wish half the music of today, was this bloody good. Lets get back a modern 1980's I am a 90's kid, wishing he was a 80's kid.

  • if only i was born 20 years earlier from my birth date, i bet my life would be 100x better then now... we're in the 10's of the 21st century and i feel depressed, the woman looked better back then, the muscle cars, the MUSIC!!! all of it was great, even the fucking economy was WAY better then our shitty economy now. i swear if a fucking time machine isn't invented in the upcoming years... i going 2 kill myself because i can't take it any more in this fucking decade!!! BRING BACK THE 80's!!!

  • @tonyinthe602 The economy was just as bad as it is now in the mid 80's, just saying.

  • @Mutilat0r1 who was asking?

  • i'm high

  • now this is a REAL song and also the other 100 80's songs

  • "Wishing" should've gone much higher on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart than #26 here in America. You'd think w/all the MTV exposure & AOR airplay the song got back in the day that it would do better. But sadly it didn't. Damn you Casey Kasem & Billboard for not promoting this song more.

  • FM radio completely forgot about this one. Even the soft rock & oldies stations that play "I Ran" won't touch "Wishing" for some odd reason. What's so wrong w/this song? I like it & I listen to a ton of classic rock.

  • shouldn't there be time machines by now?... wow how pathetic human life must be, if we can build spaceships 2 land on the moon then whats up with nasa not building a fucking time machine or something, i would do ANYTHING just 2 go back in time 2 the 1980's...anything... i will always live on the 80's

  • Another great Liverpool band

  • @bobtowers10 lol all the best groups came from there i sometimes think u2 were born on the wrong side of the irish sea, the early u2 songs are very like echo and the bunnymen the icicle works and these guys,

  • Jimmy Carlin!

  • class

  • A flock of seagulls were so awesome togather they can play there great tunes I will always love all of the tunes.

  • Still got my old vinyl copy of this that my brother gave me for a birthday present when the song was big. Still love the album.

  • I wish I had a photograph of the one person who disliked this. So I could throw a dart in it!

  • @Alexm799 good point :)

  • WOW!!!...Loook At A 20 Year Old "Reno" Shread Those Strings!!!....To Bad He Was Too Young To Handle All The Booze And Who Knows What Else (Sniff, Sniff) As He Was Just A Quiet Nerdy Guy From Liverpool in 1980, And 2 Years Later, He Is Jamming With Three 30' Somethings Across The Globe Who By The Way Had This Little Known Band (At The Time) Backing Them Up At Concerts Called...Duran, Duran!!!....Paul "RENO" is Alive and Well Today Because He Followed Doctors Advice To Cool It, And in '84 He Did!

  • What a good song to floor it !!!

  • wel i did grow up in this era n it was mega then and its mega now!!!!! WOW wot a tuneage!!!!!!

  • @dondocooperstein this is true, i started listening to 80s music in my teens (mid 90s) and didn't hear this one until now.. i like it more than their bigger hits

  • @starsweet4 yea, Flock of Seagulls are so under rated. Its sad, actually.

They had so many other great songs besides "I Ran". Totally underrated 80s band.

  • @starsweet4 by the way, its dondo, PSB96 is my other account

  • Flock of Seagulls weren't a 'one' hit wonder band. They had two other hits, this one and 'Space Age Love Song.'

  • the era werent that great to be honest, we all wore fred perry t shirts stayed pressed trousers, and had rubbish hairstyles...or was that just me!!

  • @stonersid stayed pressed trousers and fredperry tshirts were my school uniform

  • 04.25 just freaks me out ...

  • Cracking tune , Cracking group.Lived the 80's and loved the 80's. 1st 5 years anyway till all the rap shite came in

  • @euphoria1963 It was the very end of the '80s and early '90s when all the rap and alternative music became mainstream. The '80s was the 'last' decade of good music.

  • I'm 14. I love the 80's i wish I could've been there. Sounds amazing.:((

  • @glamatious Fuck i feel the same way im 17 and i belive the 80's was and always will be the best time to be a tennager. =D

  • @glamatious i appreciate that young person like you would like songs from 80's Indeed 80

s was very interesting era in terms of music, cuz there were just too many great songs in that time. I was teenager in that time, and I grew up with the songs like this one, and plus many many others. I love it. what a memory.

I am figting to get them taken off ATM.. sigh..back to "Wishing" its amazing and we havent lost Mike he is out touring - I was apart of this {Era} and my best memories are with these guys along with all the others to many to mention..I agree with everyones comments this is a beautiful song..I can always put there cd's on and its ON

Table rase de tout.

  • I love this song!!!

  • I know this is a great 80's classic, but I think the third verse should go something like this------And if I feel this way for so long I don't know what I would do if you just walked out the door. I know everyone is going to be on my ass about this. I am only saying that if you hear him singing this part, it just does not sound right. Just my opinion. I will take feed back...

  • @msjlo2131 yeah, i always thought "tell me is it all for nothing" sounded a bit weird

  • @starsweet4 thank you.....

  • @msjlo2131 yup, your lyric is better!!!! i tried singing it instead and it sounds way better

  • @starsweet4 What other 80's music do you like?

  • @msjlo2131 well i like most new wave but also goth/dark wave type stuff like the cure, bauhaus, etc.. but in general i love most 80s music! (check out my faves)
