Yikes... I would have kept it more simple... actually, ideally I wouldn't have done it at all. I mean... how old is she supposed to be? Why is she there? Do we really need another sexual child-like creature in an abstract space looking vulnerable? No; but I'm so grateful for technique demos... ! -rather stimulating.
Was sort of hoping you would show us which tools to alternate between when doing the line art, I have no idea whether you switch between black or white or brush and eraser. Plus directions on how to flip the image, etc. Oh, and also what the document parametres need to be set to like DPI and stuff.
Just noticed how old this video is. Cool illustration though ^.^
@bleakAntiquity he coloured it in then he pressed ctrl + u which brings up the box hue/saturation you then tick the box colourize and the bottom bar is for black to white ratio the second is for colour brightness and the top one is for colour itself
I think your work is brilliant, i am no artist but i would love to learn as much as i can for shortcuts and cheats in how i can improve my poor skills. keep it up.
Awesome job, guy! I never realized our skins have those multiple colours...tho I didn't see a great deal of difference when you put that multiple-colour layer on.
Basically, you used opacity while colouring.. Did you do any smudging? I've seen other works where it seems smudging is used...
I just got a tablet and am trying to figure this all out. The vid was very helpful!
@Zetimenvec I'm not sure what this guy uses but you should grab CamStudio, it's an open source program, completely free, and you can record in HD and everything it is really great.
@firstmoth I've dicked around with camstudio more than once, and I've failed to get it to work every time. I even looked around for tutorials and became immensely confused.
Would love to have seen how you choose the colors for skin tone, while you paint. Sort of the point of this video, even a little bit instead of listening to music. Every bit helps. You obviously are very good at what you do so. If you could post up a tutorial where you go into a bit of explanation on your coloring part, would be wonderful. thanks.
in 00:14 when you start to check the options, I do the same in photoshop, but when I put the option Pen pressure, next to it appears a triangle and my tablet don't get pressure. why? or my tablet don't have pressure?
I agree with zyadao12 - seems like it leaned a little more toward showing off your skills than teaching.
HOWEVER! - The tip about the skin tone at the end there - VERY useful, I appreciate that sharing of knowledge a lot, really helps a lot in my art style, I leave out the green though and get better results /shrug.
FANTASTIC result ... but there's no way I can do sth like that ... I think it's a bit of a show off rather than a tutorial .... but hey ur talented ...!!
Zyadao, I disagree - there's a lot to be learned from watching this - obviously there's a lot of skill and learned discipline that isn't something you'll get from watching something for 11 minutes, but you can learn a lot by seeing how the shading and color is built up. Even the brush settings are nice to know. I'd like to know the res he works at in his files.
To me, If he tried to tell you "how to draw" in 11 minutes that would be "showing off" because you ain't gonna get that in 11 minutes!
easy man :-) ... it's just that I tried to draw like him & couldn't get things going ... looks like I can't learn the basics here, need someone lill bit more experienced ... & btw didn't mean any offense by saying that it's a show off ...!!
i thought you started off quite weak but you really turned it round. the end result is fantastic! i really like the way you rendered it and the skin tone trick is awesome. Keep it up and thanks for sharing.
Why don't you use paths and use stroke on the path, making sure to use the simulate pen pressure. You can work faster and get smoother, better line quality when you ink in photoshop. I prefer to ink in illustrator, but when I want to change it up I use this method in photoshop.
loved watching your tutorial - the only problem I see with it is that regardless of brush settings and the tools you use you can draw well. If I was to draw that girl the poor lass would end up looking like 50 pounds of chewed gum with a smile...
That last coloring technique is awesome. It has helped me quite a bit in coloring skin tones. I've used it a bunch since watching this video. Thank you for sharing!
thank you so much ktep for such a generous sharing of techniques ..... u are very skillful..... good luck in ur journey to a even better artist in all ways man..... : ) cheers
I will say one thing, that last effect, the skintones one was very interesting, looking at other pictures, it's used quite a lot. Very effective effect, kudos. I really should draw more often xP
awesome work! i am going to try out your skin tone trick, love it! the only suggestion is to watch the boob area, her right boob looks a bit funny, where it is peeping under her arm. good stuff!
George Modilevsky here....Hi there ! I wish you showed the tablet that you are using or at least mentioning it because some of the guys around still think you are using the "normal" mouse which has become obsolete for this kind of drawing...am I right ? Lots of admiration. Georgerocky.
Okay, so what size is the tablet you use? Because, I use a 6x8 one. Now, I'm usually decent when drawing on normal paper and pencil, but, when I try to draw with my tablet, I just can't be focused on the monitor and what I'm drawing at the same time. Is there like something special all you people do in order to make this work or what :P?
I don't have a tablet(yet)but before I read your comment I was watching another vid here in YT and was a guy with a 20" tablet, and he was drawing witha paper on top of the tablet and using and ink pen(I think is a special pen for that tablet). So what he was drawing on the paper was apearing exactly in the pc monitor.Let me see if I can find you de url, just give me a sec.

You are very skilled. But from my point of view, i have only just started using photoshop, so things that seem common knowledge to you will seem alot harder to locate for me. For example you could have slowed down certain points to specify what you have used for parts of the body. It would help to pin point certain options. But otherwise a nice piece of art
No, when you plug it in it will work like a retarded mouse. That was an amazing tutorial. I would have liked to have seen what tools and settings you were using, and your character looks like a sex-offender's pinup, but I learned a lot. Thanks.
over all its a really good peice, however her breasts... well it just looks like she's holding skin colored balls under her arms ^^' but i love your work
great tutorial, thankyou so much for doing this. also that is a verycheeky trick for skin tones, nice one. the results are good, i just think that there is a little too much shading on the left hand (her left) but otherwise its great!
Excellent work what equipment do I have to buy? JEJEJE I paint already guess thats the main equipment required but I want to do it digitally. Great work!
your drawing is amazing way before the colour or even the finished line work im def gonna subscribe keep the vids coming your a big inspiration Thanks

great tutorial, thankyou so much for doing this. also that is a verycheeky trick for skin tones, nice one. the results are good, i just think that there is a little too much shading on the left hand (her left) but otherwise its great!
