I have windows me, xp, and vista. Windows Me has never crashed or had a virus, xp freezes constantly and gets to many viruses, and vista is fast but gets few viruses. Windows Me is the fastest, it only takes 35 minutes to move 1.1GB!
I remember when I was younger, my father bought a Windows ME, it had 1024 MB of Disk Space, 64 MB of RAM, and he bought the slowest plan of DIalup, for budget reasons, we were promised 26 KB internet speeds, but we hardly got 10 KB and in the mornings we would get like 900 bytes... it sucked...
@MichaelJacksonwithJ5 Its not all bad with Vista Ultimate with 1.5 GB of RAM, and when you get it brand new, with at least 103 GB of Disk space... yea Vista sucks... :(
Windows ME had a memory leak that Microsoft never fixed because they wanted you to buy their newer OS. I had ME too. Leaving it running for too long would cause all your memory to get completely soaked up, causing a crash.
I'd hate to say it but I believe the developers spent too much time trying to make Vista eye-candy rather than working out the bugs and glitches. Either my laptop hated Vista or Vista hated me because I often experienced crashes.
Vista wasn't bad. But it wasn't good. Which is why I'm sticking to XP. ME wasn't all that horrible but like Vista, they didn't spend enough time on the bugs and glitches.
vista is very good and never crashed ... at the beginning there was not much drivers ... but i run it on 700 mhz p3 and 512mb ram ...
in classic mode of course and switching a lot of unnecassary services.msc off...
vista has same kernel like win7
i do not have vista now, i am also not a windows fanboy like you see on my name, but vista was very stable and good ... symbian is the worst ever ... or dos in times when every other system have a mouse ...
Windows 98 (first one, not the second editon), was far worst than Windows Me for me! I heard a lot of people complaining about about winMe, back in 1999 and 2000, but it never failed me. However, i've seen it crash on other computers, and i think it had something to do with the instalation, how it was installed. 2000 and XP never gave me problems either, just a countdown clock (but that was sasser and blaster virus). Still use Windows XP today (since 2002)
I'd have to say windows 3.1. You couldn't multitask to save your life and there was no such thing as floating point math. Thank god I had an amiga and never had to use windows 3.1. :P
@jeeaaman Im A big Linux And Mac Usser And i Have The Same Opinion As You The Only Thing Is The Windows 7 Is Much More Buggy Free Then Vista, Vista Was One Of the Worst Things Microsoft Released :)
It's your computer's fault. I already know the features of 7 and Vista and your computers are totally OLD for Vista. ME is the worst system but I don't agree that Vista sucks.
I will use Vista Ultimate, your computer is the crap not VISTA. Windows ME is built on DOS so its buggy and it was released seven months after WINDOWS 2000. XP, VISTA AND 7 FTW, YOUR COMPUTER IS CRAP NOT YOUR OS.
back during the time when they were dating, I am pretty sure ubuntu wasn't around and linux still actually did have a few usability issues for non-geeks.
I feel sorry for my mom, she bought a new laptop when ALL pc laptops were basically windows ME. Words cannot describe the pure evil shit that operating system is, no command prompt from the windows, internet security was a joke, i had to back up that stupid thing more times than i can count.. Even though vista is flawed, it looks like a 5 kg 24 carat gold nugget compared to that steaming POS.
Windows me isnt the worst never had a problem with it and ran it back in the day, vista on the other hand doesnt work on any lap tops I have installed it on and results in BSOD but works on Desktops fine for some reason lol.
@REPOMAN24722 Well let's put it this way, I don't have Vista or 7 on my laptop anymore. I never got a BSOD. I just felt the need to change to linux completely for programming reasons. :3
@Zworykin Im just saying i never had problems on desktops with it I have a computer with xp, 7 and vista i stopped using the vista pc coz i got a new one i use the xp pc for web development and windows 7 for games and transcoding videos and so on
I've used MS & PC-DOS 3.3 to 6, DR-DOS 5, Windows 3.1, 95, ME, 98, XP, 2000, NT and 7, NeXTSTEP 2 and various versions of Macintosh, Amiga, Commodore, SunOS, BeOS, VSAM, JCL and others. I never had any unusual trouble from Windows ME, though I understand that people who had non-compliant hardware--and there were several--did. Probably the worst commercial OS, from what I've read, was Windows 1.0.
no, MS-DOS is completely horrible, if i would've gotten a choice to choose an OS and it was only windows ME and MS-DOS i would choose windows ME rather than MS-DOS besides it doesn't even have easy access!
@yaumatei1994 vista was a resource hog, an experiment, a premature release, and many things that windows was never supposed to be. ME was worse in the sense that it didn't matter how good you were with devices, drivers, hardware, or anything. At the time, the whole operating system itself had problems. If you just let it run idle, it would probably crash or freeze.
I like Ubuntu a lot. But I'm also a fan of Mac OS X. But I have to give it to Ubuntu due to open-source and hardware comparability. Plus, Apple computers cost way too much for what you get...
back in the early days my dad got his internet through our phone line and he said it took 24 hours to download a windows update and because it was through the phone line no one could ring our house but now we've got the fastest possible and when 100 mb comes available... lets just say it'll take me and my dad to convince my mum its worth the extra money ;)
Windows Vista (with no SP) was the worst. But ME takes the worst OS only because no Service Pack could cure it.. and it always remained worst, and Vista was sort of fixed.

I would say that Windows Vista suck more cos of its restrictions and I would hate it more than Windows ME. Besides Windows Vista is a failure (worlds fail-source in fact to me) anyway and plus I never ever crashed my Windows ME before and I crashed Windows Vista a million times already.
@HRHShawnPendragone Haha you're calling me a loser. I'm not the one trying to defend a dead platform. Take a reality check. Using your argument, which is by the way totally wrong, every CPU is 8 bit. The reasons a PPC won't work on a PC is because the instruction set is totally different. I'm no longer a supporter of the Amiga platform. I don't care what happens to it. But calling me a lier while you hardly have a clue what you're talking about, makes a joke out of you.
Windows ME and Vista i have experience with, sucks. Never used Windows 7 but i heard different opinions about it, the one says: it's good, the other says: it sucks.
I got a new pc with again windows XP, for me its the best together with windows 98, there's only one problem with videogames on XP.
Some new videogames need windows 7 and on that point XP sucks plus some videocard's don't support older games because of direct x issues in a particular game.
@HRHShawnPendragone There is no such thing as Windows running on an 8 bit CPU. The Intel 8088 was a 16 bit CPU. Windows 1.0 was already 16 bit. Starting with Windows NT in 1993, it was a true 32 bit OS.
After being a maniacal Amiga supporter for 5 years, I saw that I was trying to improve my rig the whole time to keep up with the much cheaper pc platform. I have fond memories of the Amiga platform, but it's commercially dead. Overpriced, lacking in features and software.
@HRHShawnPendragone If you have an unstable PC running Win 7, then you have unstable hardware or incorrect hardware drivers, or you've allowed some rogue software to corrupt your system. I've been running Win XP for 8 years and rarely had a crash, and Win 7 is even more crashproof here. In the 5 years I've used Amiga's I've seen them crash 10 times more often than my pc's in the next 10 years. Commodore wanted memory protection in Exec, but it was very hard to implement, so it never happened.
@HRHShawnPendragone I'm sorry to inform you but there is not a single line of code in the Amiga OS that's 64 bit, using such a CPU would be nonsense. Commodore planned to port the architecture to a RISC platform but went bankrupt before even a prototype was built. I had quite stable Amiga's, used a lot of my time resolving broken dependencies between librairies and datatypes, even searched for memory leaks. Still there was a lot of software that did illegal hardware calls and crashed the bunch.
damn chris's woman is cute. damn good cheeks=personality accent. GOOD TASTE PIRILLO. CUDOS. OMG.. WINDOWS M.E. AND DIAL UP. I would kill myself if that was the ONLY choice for a computer O.S. im so glad I skipped M.E. from 98 se and went straight to xp=R.I.P.
damn chris's woman is cute. damn good cheeks=personality accent. GOOD TASTE PIRILLO. CUDOS. OMG.. WINDOWS M.E. AND DIAL UP...I WOULD CHOP OFF MY BALLS ..GOFUCK A FISH IN AN ALLEY, and turn myself into a rocket, bomb George Soros and all the other communist MORONS and crash into the sun...NOW IM DEEEEAAD.LOL. I'm da boss!
@fsxvideos737 obviously ME is awesome, shes just a noob and I had her RATTED hehe. of course her machine was crashing and shit with all the viruses on that shit machine.
@HRHShawnPendragone What are you talking about! Amiga OS was never 64-bit, it had no memory protection because the MMU of the 68K series wasn't utilized. Amiga's crashed A LOT but had good performance during booting. You can do tricks with Amiga hardware you can't with most other OS'ses, including hot swapping of SCSI drives, if properly unmounted and mounted. You can even make your floppydrive sing.
PC boots up Takes 3 hours to open a window. Takes 1 hour to close a window. Opening a game. Game starts up. Mouse is stuck. Rebooting. Game starts up. Game works. Closing game. BSOD. Rebooting and opening IE6. On Apples homepage. Closing IE6 and BSOD. Rebooting, and playing game. Shutting down. BSOD when shutting down. Rebooting and FINALLY shutting down PC. That was my average Windows ME day.
LOL I remember Windows ME it was my first computer, lolol it was slow and the funniest part was I played Unreal tournament 2004 on it, amazing! and the quality was on high. LOL
Windows ME was totally the worst. Not only was it buggy beyond belief, but it tried to improve upon people running Win98SE, who like me were quite happy with it, and found many of their games and applications didn't run on ME. Plus it couldn't replace 2000, which was a bridge between NT and XP.

Have a nice life.

Overpriced, lacking in features and software.
flexyco 1 year ago
@HRHShawnPendragone If you have an unstable PC running Win 7, then you have unstable hardware or incorrect hardware drivers, or you've allowed some rogue software to corrupt your system. I've been running Win XP for 8 years and rarely had a crash, and Win 7 is even more crashproof here. In the 5 years I've used Amiga's I've seen them crash 10 times more often than my pc's in the next 10 years. Commodore wanted memory protection in Exec, but it was very hard to implement, so it never happened.
flexyco 1 year ago
@HRHShawnPendragone I'm sorry to inform you but there is not a single line of code in the Amiga OS that's 64 bit, using such a CPU would be nonsense. Commodore planned to port the architecture to a RISC platform but went bankrupt before even a prototype was built. I had quite stable Amiga's, used a lot of my time resolving broken dependencies between librairies and datatypes, even searched for memory leaks. Still there was a lot of software that did illegal hardware calls and crashed the bunch.

But stable? Not even compared with Windows 98.

Windows ME was totally the worst. Not only was it buggy beyond belief, but it tried to improve upon people running Win98SE, who like me were quite happy with it, and found many of their games and applications didn't run on ME. Plus it couldn't replace 2000, which was a bridge between NT and XP.

The top rated comment makes no sense, why does vista have the same rating as ubuntu 8 and 9? And why does 10 is better than 9, that's so stupid.

ahhh the only OS that i've ever ask for a refund.... (they refused, gives me a win2000 pro instead for an extra 20 bucks)
the only thing winME is good at is paint my desktop with a nice prussian blue background with an error message in the middle of it....
