As to debating/quoting from the Quran to 'win converts' the only direct quoting you could convert people with are abrogated verses (Surah 109:1-6) or practice Taqqyia while doing so, to 'convince people'. The Quran says if you have the capability to fight then DO IT. Any other interpretation means you need to read more of the Quran and hadiths.

As to debating/quoting from the Quran to 'win converts' the only direct quoting you could convert people with are abrogated verses (Surah 109:1-6) or practice Taqqyia while doing so, to 'convince people'. The Quran says if you have the capability to fight then DO IT. Any other interpretation means you need to read more of the Quran and hadiths.

Hence, if you are not for Islam then you are not for peace, and must be "dealt with violently". You got that wrong. Like he said "if peace to prevail, criminals will go out of business."
Hence the sword was applied against the criminals (who prevented the muslims from delivering isalm to the others), so that Peace will prevail for Muslims and Non Muslims alike.
The example of Christians living in the Arab World debunks this myth, and the presence of Islam in Indonasia and Malysia is further proof for the falasy of Islam spreading by the sword.

Paying of the Jizya Tax is more lucrative than the zakat. Also, muslims, most not being as well educated creates the need to keep some non-muslims around. YOu need to research the beginnings of Islam, if you say Islam is not spread by the sword.

Ok Jizya was estimated to be about a dinar on an individual, and that was nominal. No one would change his faith for 1 dinar a year. A well know report when Omar assumed the rule that Omar waived the Jizya on those who are unable to pay it. This is a further proof Islam didn't use compulsion to get converts. As a matter of fact, there were many Jews in Andalusia (SPAIN) under Muslim rule because they fled from the persecution of Christian Europe to the Tolerance of Muslim Spain.
