She left because she couldn't go outside and walk her dog without morons yelling expletives at her. WWE wanted her for another 5 years but she refused. Also, the affair mess that led to her retirement was exaggerated: she fell in love with edge, broke up w/matt, matt became upset that it was edge asking her to leave him, and then the shit hit the fan

Fans who liked Matt heard/saw one side of the story that Lita did not want to share with the entire world. Years later we get a better picture of who he was/he & Jeff revealed more about their unstable relationship in interviews. Fans were/are unfair to Amy. No one yells at Austin for beating his wife.
