The laugh track is so inappropriate. Nothing about what's happening is funny. It's like the devil assembled an audience in Hell to cruelly mock human grief. I don't think the actors knew there was going to be a laugh track over it. It makes me uncomfortable.

"Gallows humor" is how many people handle the severe stress of a close personal loss. "We laugh so we don't cry". Or, the initial shock leaves the people left behind feeling so numb and surreal that the only reasonable reaction is joking and laughter. Once again, "Roseanne" broke ground portraying a untidy element of the human experience.

My grandmom passed in 96 and her sister, my great Aunt Mary, was very hard of hearing and I had a very similar experience trying to tell her that grandmom had died....we were at the hospital and I had to keep raising my voice & repeating myself over & over until I finally screamed at the top of my lungs "She's DEAD!!!" Some years later I saw this scene and nealy pissed my pants laughing.......it was a sad situation at the time but this show made me laugh about it!!!
