  • This my favourite game :)

  • This game was virtually impossible to play. It was incredible hard. We used to spend hours on my mates CD-I playing this and Mystic Midway.

  • I wonder how many hours this guy put into the game before knowing the exact position of every ennemy ... + discovering the right path in the tunnel at the end of the game.

I owned the game and was also always stopped in this back alley were the tank pops and then the 3 ennemies at the doors

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD!! What did they do to Galaxy Express 999?

Shouldn't Maetel at least have been in this?

Why is the conductor now an Italian guy from New York?

This is worse then what they did to Legend of Zelda.

Lets find the guy who made these CD-I games and car bomb him, or at least knee him in the groin of something........

  • @GenericBeatrix Fuck Galaxy Express this game is really fun.

  • This game sucked ass so hard. I played it for weeks and never got half as far as you did. I used the shitty wireless controller back then... man... was thi game shit!

cant believe i googled for this crap in a night where i am drunk!

But thanks for letting me know how those wasted hours/days of my youth ended :D

  • Omg lol I remember getting my ass handed to me in this game...Gg being a child, I wish I still had this game today...and a CDI for that matter!

  • the controls were so bad in this game. That was the lone reason this thing was so difficult, especially for a little kid. Those guys back in the 1980s and early1990s who made all these bad games were real douchebags....

  • @Krkrkillr, @carfoz, They did have a squeal planned and I believe if iremembe correctly partly made, you can find the info for it on the forums for CD-I ( CDInteractive co uk)..

  • Wow the storry of the game has nothing to do with the movie lol

  • lol 1:55 Certain Death

  • Thanks for sharing. I used to play the arcade version back in the day at Malibu Grand Prix. The arcade version had a Zaxxon trigger style joystick. The gameplay was a little different, for instance, I remember shooting someone in a passing car then stealing the car to get to the train station.

  • this was also an arcade game and the arcade version was a LOT better,,, Just like all games back then :-D Maybe I dont remember the cd-i version that well, didnt you have to break out of jail before you got the gun? Was that the arcade only or only if u got busted?

  • Short but nice!

  • I still wonder if this has been just a kind of *test project* i mean, the game is under the 10 minutes, and still it IS a full game. I remember the 12 years ago trying to figure out how and what, without any internet. This game is still a masterpiece. Sadly, only for CD-I. But a sequel would be more then nice ;).

I have seen *return to cybercity* on a release list YEARS ago but I am afraid this will never happen...

Does anyone know the anime studio btw?

  • Dude, I used to play this game for hours. The farthest I could ever get was at the train where that guy slams the door! The shitty thing was that there was no save and you had to do everything fast or you would die and start ALL OVER. Thanks for finally letting me seethe end of this game!

  • I owned this game, too - it was too hard! I only came to 1:20 - than I was killed every time! No Saving possibilities forced to restart every time!

  • I hope I'm not going to hell for having owned this game.

  • when i was a kid and i beat this game i was so happy. its stuck with me to this day. game was damn hard. and no it doesn't take 5 mins to beat the game the video was missing parts of the clips. you need to shoot out he lights to beat the game then you get on the train etc. not every thing was shown

  • finally i get to see the end.

this game was hard as a kid.

this guy beat it in under 6 minutes...WTF?

either he had cheat codes, or way too much time on his hands.

he knew where everything was and didn't even have to aim right to kill robots.

  • Oh my god... i used to have this game, but i never managed to beat it. And now i can see it takes only 5 minutes to beat it?

Oh well.. at least the anime show its based off is good.

  • @Evilclown1986

what anime show is it based off?

  • @Jack243

    Galaxy Express 999

  • leviathanticus, is it possible to post another video of this game, except going down a different path?

  • sorry i found this clip

  • I haven't played this game for 11 years man. It sure does bring back memories man for real. I never could beat this damn game. God bless Youtube and the person who put this video man cause you made my day. Youtube is the shit.

  • Hell yeah dude! This is total nostalgia! They should have done a sequel!

  • @Krkrkillr They did have one planned, you can even find the mocked up loading/menu /Intro screens for it.

  • @Krkrkillr all i can say is that i aggre entirely

  • so that's how the game ends...if this game and the cd-i didn't both suck so bad maybe i would have beaten it as a kid.

  • Wow, I never knew Leiji Matsumoto made a game for Galaxy Express 999.

The voice acting suck big time. Are Maetel & Harlock in it too?

  • Call the Angry Video Game Nerd. He MUST review this game. I played it in Sears and it is horrible.

  • this game was so hard, i played that shit when i was a kid... the controller of the cdi is awful

  • Why is it that I always died at the rooftop? He'd jump off the side to slide down the cable and never made it. :B From what I remember... (it's been too long).

  • Same here. The only way that works for me was the skateboards and then the bridge, but this part was so hard that I've never finished the game (succeeded some times but not enough for being able to clear the rest of the game).

    Nice to see the end

  • Truly! I never finished the game myself and sold my CD-i long ago. This vid is a treasure. :)

  • You have to hold up when you're on the cable. It's simple once you figure it out but the game doesn't give you a chance to so it's fuckin hard lol. Too much fun playing this game!

  • Man, what? They never even gave a hint to that from what I remember. I never would have figured that out of my own. XD

  • lol... i used to play this game all the time whenever i went to circuit city.

  • very hard game. i still have the game and i can't beat that last tunnel part.

  • Heres how you beat it.. When you get to the part were he says no one gets out of here alive.. You have to remember what color order the disks are at the top... Thats the path you choose.. At least it was like that in the arcade ver..

  • What controller did you use here? It seems to be actually WORKING! I've been trying to play this blasted thing but the controller just doesn't work well with the game.

  • wtf is that shit

  • My God, those robot voices suck ass, other than that reminds me of those old anime shows I vaguely remember(Gundam and other anime shows i seen)

  • 1.11 LOL

  • MAN I NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME

  • oh my gods! i wonder if lenji matsumoto knows about this? i love how the conductor pulls up in a cab? and talks in a brooklen accent! like wtf

  • it from laser disc game port called freedom fighter

  • it's funny i never passed more than 1 minute, anyway i thought this game was longer!!!!!

  • lol

  • I love how you could shoot anywhere and still hit your target.

  • at 2:22, what's up with the bright light underneath the train?

  • It's just the sun from behind the moon or Earth.

  • Great video. This game was a pain in the butt to complete! Mostly because of the horrible thumbstick (ARGH!) I'm still glad I played it though. "This'll shoot the lips off a cockroach" It always bugged me when the old guy said that because his lips don't move :p

They had a sequel completed, Return to Cyber-City. Shame it never saw the light of day.

  • Damn, that game is short. o_O;

  • not exactly.

If you use other paths, it'll turn out to be longer than expected.
