  • sorry I guess its through the whole track, those fast flam beats. How do you do that?

  • It's done with the first grey line under the tempo knob. It's kind of a rythm scheme. I don't really know how to explain it in english, but basically when you set the 909 into this mode it will run twice faster than the 4th line.

  • Oops, my mistake... it's the 3rd line, look at the led above the buttons @ 0:34

  • @sleestack808

There's a flam function for certain sounds. Just as you do accents on certain sounds. You can also set the rate of flam from very tight to less tight.

  • how did you get those quick triplet beats at the end? Delay?

  • How much would It cost to buy a TR- 909??? And can you use it with turntables and a laptop (like Daft Punk does all the time)

  • 909's cost around £1000. You can slave a 909 to a Laptop but if you wanted to use it with a set of turntables you would just have to beatmatch like a DJ.

  • Get hold of the D16 clone, sounds just as good in a recording as the real thing but a fraction of the cost.

  • @DJHappyAndFriends 909's are extremely expensive and do not feature midi that I know of..

  • @VincentsVideoVisions The tr 909 have midi, the tr 808 and 606 dosent - they have din sync instead.. The tr 909 are worth the price tag if you ask me.. no samples can make that exact sound. If you hear a real tr 909 beside, lets say a pc with some decent samples then im sure that you could hear the difference right away between those 2. the tr 909 rocks and sounds much more organic. dont let youtube quality fool you ;) cheers

  • @pomfrit93 I am sure that the 909 sounds great in person, but the price tag is too high if you ask me...

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Yeah. that is what many people think. And i understand you. it is NOT cheap.. :(.. But i prefer this machine over every other drummachine and software drum. a tr 909, 606 and a shippmann ebbe und flut and you dont need other drums in my opinion ;)

  • @pomfrit93 I will probably own one eventually, but there's other drum machines that I'd like to buy first, specifically a Machinedrum UW. I can't afford an ebbe and flut but i do have a Jomox M-Resonator, it's pretty good. :) I had to sell a bunch of my gear recently because I am back in school, so I am software-only until I get out of college :(

  • @VincentsVideoVisions That sounds harsh mate. working with software is boring - i only use ableton to keep my stuff more organized. Im currently working my ass off at 2 jobs to get money for gear. Hehe.

I was looking for a machinedrum too. but then i decided to get the TR 909 first. The machinedrum is so super great tool! But i will stick with a oldschool setup before the stuff gets too pricey, but that is just my opinion.. BTW Machinedrum and tr 909 is AMAZING together!,

  • @pomfrit93 Yeah, software is boring and I don't like the "sound" of it in general. There's no inspiration or experimentation, really. I much prefer hardware.

It's probably a good idea to buy the vintage gear first, but with how much prices fluctuate, you never know. 303's are now worth practically half of what they were worth just a couple years ago. When I get done with school, I will be able to afford gear, and I pretty much know EXACTLY what I'm going to buy :)

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Ha ha. Which school are you at? Yeah. I decided to grab a x0x instead of the 303. Will love to have a 303, but imo not worth the money. there is so many emulations out there, and with the x0xb0x for an example. you can even play your pattern backwards and things like that. stuff you could never do with the 303, and they sound so close. .. for the price of one teebee i rather want some more kill ass filters and maybe a tr 727 for that detroit sound.

    What gear do you lust?

  • @pomfrit93 I just sold my x0x, so sad. :( A x0xb0x and a tr-606 and an analog delay is all I need to have fun for hours! :( The TR-727 sounds cool but I have high-quality samples of them all, it makes more sense to me to just load them into a MPC. :) Studio that I want: Future Retro FR-777, Future Retro XS, MachineDrum UW, Linndrum LM-2, TR-909, TR-808, MC-202, SH-101, Korg MS-20, Akai MPC 2500, Akai S950, E-MU SP-1200, Ensoniq ASR-10, Nord Lead 2, Roland VP-330, Ensoniq Mirage Rack, Arp Odyssey

  • @pomfrit93 (continued) ... Yamaha TX-816, Fender Rhodes mk2, Ensoniq Fizmo, Jomox SunSyn, Korg Wavestation XS, Arp Solina, Moog Minimoog model D, Yamaha DX200, Chroma Polaris, Yamaha CS-80... hehehe more money than I will ever have!!!

  • @VincentsVideoVisions Hehe. i know what you mean. Sometimes i wish that the only thing i had to deal with was synths. but then again. not really ;).. why did you sell the x0xb0x? some of the units i want the most is FR 777, Korg ms 20, Acidlab miami/tr 808, Korg Ms 50, Yamaha cs 15, Juno 106, Alpha juno 2 with pg 300, Korg PS-3300/3200/3100, Roland System 100m, Prophet 5, Moog voyager, DSI Tetra, Korg VC-10 Vocoder and especially deopfer a-100 rack.. The list goes on and on ;)

  • @pomfrit93 I sold my x0x along with everything else because I moved back in with my mom so I could go to college. This place is really small and i just don't have the space or time to work on music, except in the summer, and I don't want to spend my summers sitting indoors working on beats. So, for now, I just have to do without hardware! :(

Oh well! It will be worth it, when I'm done with school I will make better money so I will be able to buy more toys :)

  • @VincentsVideoVisions :(.. Stick with phosycon.. it is really a great

  • @DJHappyAndFriends Dont fight your lust/love to the 909, go grab it. you wont be dissapointed

  • bieeen. Quien te lo autografeo???

  • Hey thanks! It's been signed twice by Ritchie Hawtin, the 1st time in L.A in 1998, and the second in Phoenix. He wrote several things on it, like "I barely use this machine but it's a great interface". :-)

  • one of the few videos about TR where the machine is really turn on.

the one where i heard the "particular" sound when is pressed the turn on switch :)

  • Hehe, actually the ride cymbal at the start was an issue, I was using a step converter to get it to work. I doesn't do it anymore since I switched it up to 240V. :-)

  • I don't understand...

Mine TR does the same sound at start, and it's a unit than runs at 220/230 Volts.

I use normal voltage of line here.

the same thing about one of my friend.

    ?

  • Well I don't know, when I did the video the TR was on 110V and the ride cymbal was triggered everytime I used to turn it on. But since i set it up to 240V it just power on without any sound (except a short electric signal, maybe you've got the same thing), so it made me think that way. I might be wrong though, I think you don't have to fear anything if it works well. :-)
