My 2 cents:

Great technique, especially the left-hand efficiency. One unique feature of stringed instruments is the ability to play the same, exact phrase using different positioning. No approach is "right" or "wrong"--just different timbre. Many bassists advocate playing open strings, while others prefer stopped strings.

I use both open and stopped strings.

Here's a tip: PURCHASE the music, read it, and adjust the tab to suit your taste. It cost me $5.25. Your time is worth something, no?
