  • There are deists that turn atheist and atheists that turn deist everyday. No amount of numbers make a point valid.

  • atheism is a big joke

  • @carlodina1 describe atheism for me

  • atheist are like ants on a back of an elephant, and surprisingly the ant ask the other one, where is the elephant?

  • go to amightywind...

  • I wish atheist's would stop bringing up religion all the time. Many people believe, including myself, in "God", and it may have NOTHING to do with a man made concept or religion. But they always want to argue the bible or other religious books and dogma.

  • he believes in god but not any religion... he is a deist.. far more reasonable than religious ppl imo.. is he dead or alive now?

  • @llHyRaXll Quran:

    {Surah-109- the unbelievers (kafirun) -vs-1}

    Say: o unbelievers!

2-i do not serve that which you serve,

3-nor do you serve him whom I serve:

4-nor am I going to serve that which you serve,

5-nor are you going to serve him whom I serve:

6-you shall have your religion and I shall have my religion.

  • He's now a Christian because he's a pussy.

  • @opielicker96 You mean a deist. Big difference.

  • You guys have to understand, you might say "no I don't believe on this 100%" yet you don't know who created the universe and it's things. Yet humans... so there HAS to be a kind of power behind all this<---- it's math too, but people are just saying naah it's not true while it is. It was told the "big bang" created the universe... it created people too?

  • The argument from complexity again... weak.

  • It's a real shame to see a once great mind deteriorate and humiliate himself this way. Please have respect for this mans memory and remove the video. Thanks.

  • The evidence is a personal expierience. Feeling the holy ghost, Seeing auras, hearing his voice, developing a strong conscience, losing interest in bad things, attracting different people and expieriences into your life, having an increased knowledge and understanding instantly, feeling more loving, feeling a presence, feeling content, feeling the hole that seems to consume everything become filled, noticing more coincidences, having strong intuition, seeing the effects of karma. all these.

  • @jasonwkeller76 @jasonwkeller76 You are describing psychosis. Have you discussed this with a mental health professional?

For my own peace of mind. If this holy ghost tells you to fly a plane into a tall building or strap explosives to yourself and short-track to paradise. Please talk to your family doctor first.

  • @meg2393

so you skip the fact that Flew does not believe in afterlife still

he explains it well in the beginning of his book

  • @Tripockets You misunderstood, i believe in God. I was just saying how funny it was that a hardened athiest turns around because of fear

  • He's getting old and worried about hell

  • Just let him read about evolution and and he will understand that the argument about complexity is a total failure.

It's an argument from ignorance. "I can't imagine it happen".

  • @thesparitin

i was an athiest i read the bible and know i am christian and what changed my mind was science awnsers everything but how did the germs, rainbows, andetc. get here and i changed my mind instantly

  • Bobsanders, "Christianity is absurd"? Thats a foundationless opinion. Even Richard Dawkins says of Tillich and Boenfoeffer (Theologians and Christians): "If only such sublte, nuanced religion predominated, the world would surely be a better place" (page 15, The God Delusion, paperback).

Don't confuse Jesus and Christians with people like Ted Haggard and Pat Robertson.

Read the book of Romans for yourself...

  • This is stupid. The existence of a God-creator can be debatable, and that's what they're talking about- Flew thought there was no god, and now he thinks there is a god; but he still says that there's no afterlife, the bible is bullshit, and all religions on earth are false. He's a deist: jsut believe in a god creator, and nothing more. I can respect that because it's possible. christianity is just absurd.

  • @bobsanders222 You just dont want to beleive, it is your presupposition that we live in a closed system, and because you hold that presupposition you cannot allow any room for an open system, as simple as that

  • Changing his mind is not the same as accepting Christ as Lord. The Bible says, "Even demons believe there's one God and tremble". Believing in "an intelligence" will still have the same outcome of being in hell! Only faith in Christ matters!

  • dont be erregant. believing in good has revward in heawen. believe in jesus has the same reward too. erregance is evil. thats why christian partially are dark and sinfull.

  • what does erregant mean?

  • it means british history my friend . go and study .

  • arrogance is the right word. furtunately i am not british and my mom has no lip stick and no bitchy manner.

  • Even the things around (complex & harmoniously operating) all testify that a creator (i.e. God) exist. The probability of life existing from nothing at random is extremely absurd. Even the probability of an incredibly complex lifeless biogenic organism forming at random and in addition, life later inputted into it to make it living is double absurd to say the very least. There must be a creator somewhere. A camera implies a camera maker. Can a camera assemble on its own at random? Absurd & nay.

  • @7olusegun

Is a camera a living being? Oh I'm sorry you're religious, logic is a complex mechanism for you. Let me break it down for your little mind to understand. To account for probability, you would have to account for all possible cases. Can science do that? Nope. What we CAN say is. Given the conditions in which the earth existed for millions of years. The ABSENCE OF LIFE would have been improbable. Not something you could understand, though. You gotta read things other than the bible.

  • The bible is the most accurate & truthful book to date so far. It stands up to the tests of prophecy, history, science, archaeology etc. Which mind do you have? As advanced as man's technology is, he has never been able to create a speck of LIVING thing (the so called abiogenetic theory / experiments are a farce). Scientist have calculated that the probability of random molecules coming together to form life is far smaller than the inverse of the total number of molecules in the entire universe.

  • @7olusegum

So? That doesn't prove your point. Probability is a shady business, especially if we're not sure about elemental things in life. That's what physics are for, and they're making breakthroughs every day. And I'm sorry, but if you really believe the bible is the most accurate and truthful book ever, you really need psychological counseling.

  • According to Genesis, Noah was 500 years old when he begat Shem (5:32). Noah was 600 years old when the Flood waters were on the earth (7:6). Shem was 100 years old when he begat Arphaxad, two years after the Flood (11:10). This is a mistake. If Shem begat Arphaxad two years after the Flood, then he should have been 102 years old.

That is a error, and I have alot more.

  • thesparitan;

Please give your life to Jesus Christ for your salvation. At least, this aint any error. All parts of the bible points to Jesus as the only savior of the world. You wouldn't want to leave this world without knowing Him (or would you)?

No it ain't a mistake. Shem was 100 years old BEFORE he begat Arphaxad (notice the comma), then 2 years after the flood, yes, he was now 102 years (at the time he begat Arphaxad). So I do not think there was an error in his age timing.

  • the bible is not only false but also evil

Why would i believe in a god that has no evidence for it existing and if did exist would be evil.

give me proof and then i will believe, other then that dont waste my time. there are thousands of unsupported beliefs in the world, why is yours any different.

thank goodness your god is not real, such a thing would be horrible.

  • thesparitan;

What are some other biblical errors? It is also best knowing the traditions at the time. Give me reasons why you said the bible is false or evil. The evidences God exist are just too numerous & obvious around. The fact that Israel exist & its living problems, as well as events going on in the world including prophesy fulfillments shows the bible to be 100% accurate. God's existence is more real than whatever you can see. Absence of evidence aint mean scientific evidence of absence.

  • If a magic man comes down from the sky and does something amazing, like craft a mountain in the blink of an eye, then I might believe.

  • believe comes from faith, leap out of self and asking Jesus to be the LORD and savior of your life. Ask him into your heart. You have nothing to loose?

  • @1bigade

yes there is alot to lose, like my reason and my rational nature as a man.

i believe that you shouldn't believe in something to which there is no evidence, its called logic.

  • @7olusegun

"What are some other biblical errors?"

    How did Judas die?

  • This depends which one your reading. Stick to King James :-) Start in Romans. God died for us, so we would never have to go to hell. He's a good God and he taught me how to LOVE, even those who do not believe. Call out his name, what have you got to loose? Ask Jesus into your heart today.

  • @1bigade start reading the bible in romans? why not genesis??

isnt it all the truthful word of god??

  • THESPARiTAN - seriusly, are you that stupid? Don't you think the fact that the mumbers are all rounded to the nearest hundred tells you that the ages are approximate? Duh!

  • @djdrwilson are that stupid to believe in something that says someone was five hundred years old. its stupid book writen long time ago that is filled with stupid stories. and you believe its real.

i read lord of the rings i dont believe that orcs are real.

  • Stop judging the word and start reading from roman's. Call on the name of the LORD and thou shall be saved.

  • i guess an intelligent person can become a theist, once they lose thair mind to dementia/old age. the formula is still valid. lack of mantal faculties=belief in imaginary sky daddy

  • haha he's lost his marbles!!!

  • lol hook right?

  • This poor man had obviously lost some of his mental faculties by the time this very mis-leading video was made!

Pehaps the onset of dementia? That would certainly explain his alledged sudden change of heart.

Irregardless, this case merely demonstrates the instinct within all humans faced with a threat to our existence to employ some sort of fight or flight, and our brain's intense yet wholly natural inclination, or propensity, to delude itself with false comforts to assuage our fear of death.

  • No, I never implied he was an "idiot".

Your comment however indicates that perhaps you are. Go read a real book.

  • Ah, the joys of toying with morons.

The pedestrian intent of your juvenile and worthless response to my comment, as well as to whom it was directed, was quite obvious to me all along.

So, please do enlighten us all with more of your extraordinarily polished intellect.

  • Hee Hee! Nice Comeback!

  • What a CHUMP!

    LMFAO! You ARE an IDIOT!!

  • Are you a troll or are you really that stupid? I mean, really? baseless ad-hominem. And the whole "you can't even see when someone calls you an idiot" was just pitiful. There was no way for him to know who was being called an idiot. Would you know? No, you wouldn't, don't lie.

Try to rethink what you say, before you make a fool of yourself.

  • Self depreciating humor is too funny!

  • Very well put!

And hey seven, don't let the trolls get you riled, they're not worth the trouble.

  • Sad to see him go, unfortunately this figure don't seem to know too much about Evolution.

  • Is this not the watchmaker analogy, a thing which has been thoroughly disassembled and explained more logically by evolution?

Perhaps there is a "creator", but what reason has anyone to conclude that there's is the right one?

  • Comment removed

  • So basically the message is "if you don't agree with me, despite my complete lack of logic and reason, you're an idiot".

Good luck with that "message", lol.

  • Yeah he miraculousy finds GOD near the end, FEAR like we all know.

  • Keep fearin', brotha

  • My husbands' ex friend isn't intelligent and he's an athiest. And I'm not just saying that. He's actually failing all his courses in college, has taken much longer then he needed to, and his temper is off the charts. Anytime he has anything "intelligent" to say, we would tell him he was wrong and back it up with evidence and shut him right up...... Just as not all God Fearing people are intelligent, not all athiests are intelligent.

  • What a mental midget! Religion is the domain of the uninquisitive. This guy is totally unqualified to discuss science. Please keep your jeebus fixation in the closet where it belongs.

  • i hope u also know that he doesnt believe in hereafter as he states at the beginning of his book

which means he doesnt believe in religion

and which means he has just got the capacity to realize the existence of that power behind the curtain of matter

and if you are not interested, why do you click on such video name?

someone(old as it seems from the thumbnail)will tell his opinions about some kind of divine power in this video

    thats certain

what else were you waiting for?

    a miracle?

  • @cmfluteguy

fluteguy? does that mean u like flutes? like dicks? big fat cocks in your mouth?

  • @cmfluteguy So in your opinion Albert Einstein, Nicholas Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and Francis Bacon had no contribution to science.

  • @cmfluteguy Flute Guy "Oh wise one" may I suggest you step back inside yours and introspect some more. You're not there yet.

  • @cmfluteguy This old guy could not figure things out in his long life; And at the end of his life turned to religion. So what??

  • @cmfluteguy Yeh he is typical of an old man approaching the end of his life who has/is loosing his mind due to brain degeneration as happens with most old people.

  • lmao

  • Interesting. I wonder if someone where to find statistics though of who converts more - atheists to religion or the religious to atheism - I wonder what that would indicate. I know which is the larger group but I wonder which is the growing one and I wonder if it has anything to do with mans ever expanding understanding of this world. Hmm.

  • if you wonder about religions Islam gets the most converts

but if you ask me,more people become atheists

actually most of those people have never been real theists philosophically, but they were just following their parents blindly and they just stop doing this

  • oh I agree. it's suprising about Islam getting the most number of converts though.

  • @HighFlyingDutchman

Great arguement from a guy who says your god is false.

  • My grandma thinks the local hardware store is involved in a conspiracy to charge her a few cents extra every time she goes there. Old people loose their reasoning

  • Listen to the video. Think about what Flew said. Try to follow his reasoning. Obviously the generalism that old people lose their reasoning is not supported here.

  • is it reasonable to say that fish evolved into dinosaurs or cows into dolphins

  • Accepting micro evolution and denying macro evolution is like accepting a grain of sand as possible but denying the possibility of a beach.

  • Comment removed

  • neuroscience has one which doesn't require faith

please note that it only explains thought, not consciousness

  • Who is the interviewer he sound very familiar - from the creationist camp.

  • Antony Flew is a Deist not a Theist an important distinction.

Mr. Flew influenced my position as a Theist one bit. I'm certainly happy that he's come closer to the truth, but at the end of the day he's just a fallible man.

  • Who is Anthony Flew?

  • Anthony Flew was the older Richard Dawkins.

  • You Atheist have built a falsehood starting from Charles Darwin. Thank God for slavery because if whites had treated us as equals in history, we may have alot of black atheist in America. We know GOD through trials and tribulation, not to mention making it against all odds. Thank you for slavery. You took away education and gave us the Bible. GOD worked it out for us in His perfect time.

  • I would not take a single, old semi-atheist converting to ID as proof that ID is correct. Indeed, life is complexe, but not impossible through nature.

  • Atheists do not change their mind until conclusive evidence is found. It hasn't been found so what's the deal with this guy then? I doubt he has ever been a "devout" atheist.

  • Did he become a theist or a deist?

Because Einstein was barely even a deist.

  • Einstein was a Pantheist, not deist.

  • or maybe here at the end of his life he thinks he might need a little fire insurance ,just incase in the arrogance and certainty of his previous dogmatic beliefs, he might have some explaining to do in the here after

  • all things are made for God's glory, they were saved by the blood of the lamb and the word of thier testimony, even if this mans testimony changes one life it is worth it!

  • Amen

  • The certainty of his previous views were gained from evidence. Dogma in definition can only be applied to religion and that is its origin.

  • What you see here are the faults that are imbedded in the human mind as we age. Otherwise he might've become religious now because he now doubts that there is no heaven and hell and is afraid. Anyways, Those animations of how complex things are is over-enthused. If you actually study them; they are not fucking robots.

  • anthony flew over the cuckoo's nest.

  • Where is the evidence for that foolish text.

  • edmenow - "the FOOL hath saith in his THERE IS NO GOD! "

GeniusIdiot - "Where is the evidence for that foolish text. "

    Psalms 14:1

    Psalms 53:1

  • When I say there is no evidence for it; It means that verses are insignificant and are not classified as proof. They only work in the sense of "because I say so". Where is actual physical scientific evidence in reality that proves that people with no faith in your false gods are fools. "You are fools for believing". What I just said is true just because I say so and that is how your verses work. They cannot be true just because it says so. Understand yet? I need real proof. Not commands.

  • I did not ask where the verses are to be found. I asked give me real proof that irreligious folk are fools.

  • GeniusIdiot - "I asked give me real proof that irreligious folk are fools"

Well I might had I made such a claim. I might if the bible had made such a claim. But it did not and neither did I.

  • The writers of the bible did make such a claim. Now prove that what it says is true. It cannot just say so with no proof. That is a hasty remark.

  • GeniusIdiot -"The writers of the bible did make such a claim"

    "that irreligious folk are fools"

The bible makes that claim? And where might that be?

  • Psalms 14:1. I thought you said so.

  • Ahh, ok, so that's what you meant. sorry I misunderstood since it is not what was said. What was said is, "the FOOL hath saith in his THERE IS NO GOD! "

and you said, GeniusIdiot - Where is the evidence for that foolish text.

There is quite a difference in meaning there. So what you're asking me to do is prove God said that?

  • No, I was asking if anyone can prove what your god said is real. Not where it's found and written by man. Are non-believers actually fools. Can it be any more simple?

  • GeniusIdiot - Yes it's quite simple :) So what you're asking me to do is prove if people who don't believe something are fools. I guess that would be a matter of opinion correct? And you want me to prove God's opinion? Or are you asking me to prove God wrote the bible and then said it? If so you're asking me to prove something even you can't do. No one can prove faith except faith itself. A concept that's quite difficult for unbelievers to grasp :)

  • I am if you can prove it because that's what you said you would do if I showed you where it was written. How could you say anything what God said is opinion? Everything that God supposedly says should be instant fact to followers. I'm not asking you to prove that God wrote the bible because everyone knows it was supposedly man ispired by God who wrote it. It is not difficult for non-believers to understand faith. They only hold it from a different view. Anyways, Do you think faith is trust?

  • Well first of all I said I "might" if indeed I had made that claim which I did not. Secondly, according to you God can't have an opinion? I didn't say believers didn't believe God's opinion, nor did I say it wasn't fact

"Everything that God supposedly says should be instant fact to followers"

(you sure do lay down a lot of rules lol).

followers are human, some have more faith than others.

"Do you think faith is trust?"

I think faith is exactly what the bible claims. I'll quote it above.

  • You don't have to prove it then. Just wondering. "You sure do lay down a lot of rules". Those aren't mine. Those just seem to be followed by believers. They follow what God says without hesitation.

  • GeniusIdiot "They follow what God says without hesitation. "

We're supposed to. The bible tells us to come to God as little children do to their parents. Little ones believe everything mommy and daddy say. They totally trust parents for food clothing etc. As christians we are instructed to do the same. We then build that faith in God by reading His word and putting it into practice. Then seeing the results of "faith" :) "the evidence of things unseen"

  • I think that is still unfair. It was the parent's comittment and they should tell the truth to their inheritants. Something that is rarely the case in reality. I expect the same from the founders of a belief. The experience will still be worth it.

  • GeniusIdiot -

Ahh, but God did make a commitment as our Heavenly Father. It's called a covenent. He made some HUGE promises and has kept them all this time. Those who have faith call Him Abba (Father) which is like saying "daddy". We are inheritors of God's promises and His kingdom. And He has told us the truth with His word.

  • But then it would be once again the question of is that really God making those commitments. It would become a cycle.

  • GeniusIdiot -"But then it would be once again the question of is that really God making those commitments. It would become a cycle. "

Yep, and I do understand where you're coming from. But, imagine for a second, if He is real....and all the claims He made are real... can you imagine how fantastical that would be? This is why weird crazy christians are running around trying to tell other people LOL They found out!

  • It can be a positive experience but some ideas I simply do not enjoy because of certain ways I think. I also found other fascinations and anticipations that many beliefs won't accept. For example I actually like the idea that I'm a part of the animal kingdom and that our planet is not the center of the universe and that there are others on other worlds. Things can get more wonderous that way. All of our species has to be in awe for something. Most have currently chose religion.

  • GeniusIdiot - I can respect that. Sounds like some interesting topics indeed. Well if you're ever up for a good debate/discussion/or chit chat look me up :)

  • Seems good to me.

  • GeniusIdiot -"Do you think faith is trust? "

    The bible says this:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the EVIDENCE of things unseen" Heb 11:1

The bible claims faith has an actual substance and it is it's own evidence. cool huh? this is why I say unbelievers can't grasp this concept. Faith having an actual substance because it/faith causes things to happen.

  • That just depends. It can have a slight chance of just being unseen but you may be at risk. It may not be there at all. It may be excuse. Interesting concept though.

  • GeniusIdiot - "That just depends. It can have a slight chance of just being unseen but you may be at risk. It may not be there at all. It may be excuse"

You are absolutely correct. And if there were no results or evidence of the unseen what would we have? This is why God tells us to "taste" and see that He is good. We took the risk :) A leap of faith if you will.

  • I respect that it can be good. If it is real is also a big matter.

  • GeniusIdiot - Not sure if you know this but, God has tried to save mankind from his own mistakes since the very beginning. Many people see the bible and God as a God of blood , fire and brimstone when nothing could be farther from the truth. God is a God of love. There are so many things I wish I could share them all with you. I think you would be fascinated even if you didnt believe it.

  • Not meaning to butt in here but just wanted to share something. What Rev is saying about faith is true. I have been attending church since is was 16. Kept me out of some trouble many of my friends from school got into, I had faith enough to believe that Christ died for our sins and tried to stay away from further sin the best I could, although many times I have fell. But that's about as far as it went for me. Until about 2 1/2yrs ago that is and I'm 38 now. ..... continued.....

  • My then 10yr old son ask me to lay down with him that night and wanted me to read the bible to him. I had read parts of the bible before but never from start to finish so I said, "okay, let's just start from the beginning." In reading Genesis I came to the story of Joseph (not the Joseph & Mary & baby Jesus, Joseph). Saw how his brothers were jealous of him, how they sold him into slavery, how he became a prisoner, and then 2nd only to Pharaoh as ruler over all of Egypt..... continued....

  • all because he never lost FAITH in God.

I never gave to the church I attended because I was struggling to pay my own bills and thought, how can I give when God hasn't even given me what I need to make my own ends meet. I own my own business and times were rough but managed to pay myself $500 for the 1st time in a month to help my wife pay insurances coming out of our account. After thinking of the story of Joseph, I started feeling guilty not giving. So I thought I'll give 10%... continued...

  • but I only had a $100 bill in my wallet. I finally took a leap of faith and just gave it. I didn't give it regretfully and didn't think of it as "God you better give it back." Either way though, the very next day at my store was unreal in sales. By the end of the week I had done 4 times for the week of what I usually was doing. The next Sunday I was scared not to give money to help the church spread God's word. The following week at my store I did even more business...continued last time...

  • Long story short, the slow time of my business is in the winter and this started in February. Since this date my winter months have been like summer months used to be and the summer months are just awesome. Bottom line is, don't expect to give to a church to get money back. Give because you love God. Read God's word, learn, pray, help others, learn to love as Jesus loved/loves. That'll give you FAITH, and when you get the FAITH, God is not slack keeping his promises. Faith will be tangible!

  • Oh yeah, and get in a church that preaches God's word straight from the Bible. So read for yourself and don't just trust something the preacher says unless it's backed by God's word and not just a verse taken out of context. In 2 Tim. 2:15 God's word tells us to Study His word to show ourselves approved. Basically I'm saying there are false teachers that have hurt the Christian faith. So find a good teacher and study for yourself and I pray one day you'll find the faith that has illuded so many.

  • Poor old guy..... His mind isn't the great one it was ....The interviewer is practically having to feed him his lines...Terrible to see him used this way.

  • Awesome

  • How is he famous?

  • you are probably too young to know him...I know I am! wikipedia him.

  • I would but I don't know his name or I missed it in the video.

  • anthony flew.

  • Flew says ... My view (if any god) is emphatically not good or evil, or interested in human conduct" and does not perform miracles of any kind. And an Abrahamic god is out of the question and furthermore, Flew takes great care to emphasize this! A jewish, Christian and Islamic god, is non-existent and, there is no revealed religion, definitely no afterlife of any kind. Says there's a fundamental distinction between the God of Aristotle or Spinoza and the false Abrahamic God's revelations.

  • i wish i understood what he said

  • there is a difference between being a radical atheist and a logical atheist.

this man is a logical atheist...when he saw proof he followed it.

  • theres an atheist and an agnostic waiting for proof.

  • Ah, before my time then, I was busy being born when he was starting his career. Guess my definition of fame differs from that of the apologetics here, I prefer "someone I, or anyone I know has ever heard of" ;)

It's truly a sad story, an old man with failing cognitive acuity turns to a sort of bland deism... and becomes a symbol to be bandied around by religious wingnuts.

    *sigh*

  • ive never even heard of that guy

  • I hope i could show this man the Qur'an.. Surat Ikhlas! :D Salaam

  • Great, And Einstein rolls in his grave once more.

  • Who's the geriatric geezer?

    Where's the famous guy?

  • And there are many preachers who after many years became atheist. So your point is?

  • yea, there are many preachers who are lying to their conscience

and one day they stop doing it

these people have never been honestly believers but maybe preachers to make money by deceiving people into their churches

    peace

  • so your answer is:

    true christians vs fake christians

How do you know you are a true christian and not being deceived? You don't. Anthony could be a fake christian. You might be deceived also. If you are being deceived you wouldnn't know it.

Until you can provide us with a definition of a true christian that argument is useless.

  • thanks for the reply

i am not a fake Christian

    i am not a true Christian,either

    peace :=)
