Ima sophmore and we played this for a few weeks then our band derector took it back and we played a diffrent song. But I absolutly loved it, the only way I found it again was because I scribbled it in the corrnonr of my folder <3 This is an amazing peace. I dont know why he took it back, we shoud've played it. Amazing song ♥
Aggg! I love this piece! Playyed it my sophomore year.. I always could barely breathe during the part at the end when the oboe(thts wht i play) plays the same thing as the trumets..
Hey @concertbandland, do you have a recording of Masque? I notice there's footage of other bands playing it, but I realize the mistakes that they make do to my band director's observations with the score (we're playing Masque currently).
we played this song my sophomore year. i was the lead trumpet, playing the insane high "D" it was fun. i was the only one who could hit it too with the chops XD
@euphonium2011 yo, i play trombone and euphonium, but trombone's my primary. I played this song my sophomore year of high school, and it was high then too hahaha. Since then, i've worked a lotttt on my range, and now i'm pretty comfortable with where i am. might not work for everybody, but what i've found helps me is moving my mouthpiece up on my ombeshure so that i'm buzzing into the very bottom of the cup. and like i move it around a lot, like for Fs, the mouthpiece is nearly touching my nose!
@euphonium2011 I mean, thats probably no the best way or proper way to do it, but it works for me with decent tone. again, that might just be me haha, i'm a little weird. just make sure to keep the back of your throat open and fight against spitting the note out from the front of your mouth. you still need all the air support, just in fine amounts through the smaller hole that moving the mouthpiece helps to give you. if that made sense. hope i could help.
this is a difficult piece to play my high school wind symphony might play this for contest this spring
the euphonium part is so high in some parts of the piece i believe the highest note the euphonium plays is the high C above the c on one ledger line which makes me smile a little
i said this on another video but I seriously almost passed out playing tuba on this song haha....40 measures of one note at basically triple forte = dizzyness and tingling hands xD
I just got this piece yestarday.. Im an oboe player.. I didnt like it at first playin it by myself. I didnt really know what it was about,. But since ive heard this i cnt wait to play it with th full band!..
To me, the tempo seems a little off. This piece is basically a requiem (seriously, it's Jewish too), and it feels like the ensemble is taking it a bit too fast (I E not lamenting enough). It would capture the mood a lot more if it were a few beats slower.
This is a wonderful work of art.. In 9th grade (i'm 30 years old now) my band director had us play this and told us what this piece was about. With tears rolling down her face she told us its about a man and his journey to his death. The same lady faced this journey a few months ago. Listening to this brings back such wonderful thoughts and i can almost hear her voice explaining it all over again. We love and miss you! Mrs. V Watts
This must be a high school concert band favoriet. We played it in my symphonic band back in 1982 and I see it is still being played today. Nevertheless it is a very beautiful piece.

This piece was really a big mood setter last year for my Honors band. I played the chimes and had to be spot on.

Superb enterpretation of the ensemble'' rubato like'' '' agogic dynamic'', when,,, ''the heart ''stops The hemiolic heart beat and it's ''sound intensity'' dynamics, are ''trance like''.
So few notes, to depict such a solemn significance.
We enter the world with nothing,,, and we leave,, with most of it.,, but the music we make remains...... Shalom.
