This is just one of the creepiest song's I have ever heard. I bought the album in Okinawa in the mid 70's, and would transcend along with the songs that Lou wrote here. The tonal quality was unsurpassed at the time, with the electronic equipment we "Studiophiles" had at our disposal at the time. Big bucks for the best sound. Think Marantz, JBL...Technic.

this song is not about suicide. it is about love, loss, and disbelieve. the most intriguing as well as irritating combination of emotions we humans are capable of having at any one time. I was 14 when this song entered my realm. the classic reaction of a teenager to this kind of emotional mish-mash is anger. lou reed with this song comforted me with the understanding that you can as well meet such feelings with peaceful curiosity and exceptance.
