There was another version of this song, by a woman named Helen Smith, I think. You all need to year it. She really did it just. I ain knockin this one. But the one by Helen Smith was the first one I heard. So I judged all the ones I heard after that by the first one I heard
This is vintage '67 and close to the original. Songs like this and songs like "Got to be a Miracle" on the flipside of "It Takes Two" by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston don't get air play in smaller markets. I'll give the one by Helen Smith a shot and see how it measure up. Thanks! bilbo2shire
I was 12 years old and going to Hess on the West Side of Chicago. I don't know why people say you don't understand love at this age. I remember Lavern Vanzant. I saw her again when I worked as a mail carrier in Chicago in 1975. I remember those days of chasing her in 1967 and I was too ashamed to talk to her. Sure do wish I had. bilbo2shire
I'm just slightly younger than you (47) and grew up in Chicago as well. I never heard this song or heard of Irma Thomas until just this morning watching the Sopranos. Needless to say I am hooked, she is a power house.
Thanks so very much for the reply. I believe this song did come out in 1967. WVON made so many Artists Stars. On Saturday WVON would play this kind of music all day. My sister told me there were some recording studios on MIchigan and anoather street downtown and athis is the music they produced. By the way. I grew up on the West Side. Will always remember the 2800 Block of Lexington from 1968. I graduated from Marshall in 1973. HIt me back if you like. THANKS!!! bilbo2shire
It has been 41 years since I heard this song on 'WVON' out of Chicago. I could never get anyone to remember this song. I guess I am lucky at least tonight. Maybe some one will post a song titled "Don't It Make You Feel Kind Of Bad". I was so young and raw to Chicago in 1967 from Bessemer, Alabama but we made it. Bilbo2shire
Thats some real life baby.
