What I remember about her is her and her dad sueing another racer for an on track accident...classy. Doesn't even matter if she won any money or not, you don't sue a fellow racer...PERIOD!
Not that it matters but Lori is still a very beautiful lady, and deserves a place in the history books, and by the way she didn't suck. Lori and her team won some NHRA trophies
Ok it was many years ago,, 1991 it is then, I just remember like 15 minutes after her run, I and friends went over to get some pics and autographs, like all the other great racers, Bernstein, Glidden, Force, Amato, and she wasnt talking or having pics taken per her manager.. She shouldnt have taken her LOST out on her fans.. A lot of fans never forgave her after that day, neither did I..
Thank you for all of the positive comments! I love my fans and I loved Drag Racing. I had a tremandous amount of success in a short amount of time. It was all do to the best equipment, funded by my father, not a penny from a lawsuit and the incredible talent of the crewchiefs and crewmembers he hired. I did my job, the best I could. I am sorry for you, who are so terribly misinformed. Maybe you should check your facts before writing them down. Lori Johns
I was at the Cajun nationals when she was running I believe, top alcohol dragster. that was a while ago,She had a very nasy crash there and I happened to see it all from a very good vantage point. She was on top of the gaurd rails rolling over and sliding down them upside down, the rails where right about where your mid forarm would be. I figured if she survivded she was done. She came back and started running top fuel.
When I 1st started watching Drag Racing (about '89 or '90) there was just 2 women, Lori was one of them, and Shirley Muldowney was the other, I liked Lori Johns a lot, and I have great respect for Shirley simply because she opened the door for women in racing, sure Lori Johns was no Shirley Muldowney by no strech of Imagination, but as I said, I liked those 2 very well.
Only reason she even got her start in Top Fuel was because when she was a sportsman racer she was involved in a wreck when the competitor in the other lane crashed and collected her in it. Needless to say that her and daddy sued the poor guy for every dime he had.... and besides Shirley Muldowney was the woman in NHRA to win not only a national event but 3 world championships.
Your information is wrong. There was never a dime won from a lawsuit and my father paid for my entire Top Fuel operation with the help of many integral sponsors. Lori Johns
If my memory serves me correct at one time in the early 80's Lori use to bracket race at the old Houston International Raceway...I may be wrong but I am pretty sure I am correct...She was a great driver....
After doing some research on Lori from what little reliable information there is on her, she started her drag racing career on the wrong foot and it ended as quickly as it started. It's a real shame, cause she had the potential to be a competitive Top Fuel racer for a long time and it never happened.
i run into her dad terry from time to time.i asked him (in about 2000)if the rumors about her planning a come back were true? he said no she loves the doing the stay at home mother thing. i am sure thats still the case.what ever she is doing its 100% at 300mph you be sure.. thanks for the memories lori and terry ...wesley c.c.tx. go tigers
Man what a fox she was! I thought i was the only one that remembered her! She wasnt a great racer...but damn she was hot! Right there with the Angelles,Ashleys,Angies of our day!
Shirley Shahan, Shirley Muldowney, Bunny Burkett, Paula Murphy, Berdella and others. Lori Johns was Lawsuit happy and left many a bad taste in racers mouths. Glad she is gone!
I was also found, after a year long survey, done at every national event, by employees of Sports Marketing Enterprises, who did the marketing for Winston, to be among the top three most popular drivers, while I was racing, the other two were: John Force and Bob Glidden. At several national events over 90% of the people surveyed, named me as their favorite driver.

She was a blight on the racing world and should never have been given the honor of driving a fuel car.

I happen to know that it was 1991 when she lost 1st round at Atlanta, because I remember the 1990 Atlanta race, Lori won that day.
