  • @NickyReviews i have the same problem could you tell me if you get a answer

  • Comment removed

  • what program you use to record your screen?(send mail to me)

  • @Origamiking123 It's camtasia, it's not free. Normally it generates much more impressive results. Too much zooming, and we didn't need the typing sounds. The clicks are ok.

  • @Srn90 Ah, im sorry, i meant to vote up, but I hit down, and now I cant change it!!!!

  • i dont know how to texture the object i go here a lot lol

  • As a prolific DarkBASIC and C++ coder,I will admit that C++ is more powerful than DarkBASIC,DB is much easier to learn than C++ and it only costs 40 bucks for a full license, while software like Virtools and 3ds max that use C++ cost alot of money, sure you could just download a copy and crack it,but you could never publish your games without getting your ass sued by Autodesk.

  • good luck protecting your assets with DB

  • @ryandardis If you're a hobby programmer (and if you're using DBP you most likely are), then you're most likely not going to be using any Autodesk programs as they're much too complicated for a hobby programmer to use quickly, efficiently and effectively. You're better off using something like Blender or even simpler Milkshape3D.

If you're in it for the money, you won't want to use DBP either. You'll be better off using Unity 3D.

That said, DBP is fun and gives you fast results.

  • Of course.

  • thanks 5/5

  • because c++ is more advanced, it doesn't mean dark basic isn't real coding. :)

  • Agreed. Plus, C# is unofficially the new c++.

  • You've got to be kidding me, C++ less powerful than a language that is basically basic platform? -_-

  • That's what it's been recognized as. Unofficially. But C# IS pretty powerful too.

  • @Srn90 Ah, im sorry, i meant to vote up, but I hit down, and now I cant cange it!!!!

  • Center Text Screen Width()/2, Screen Height()/2, "X" If ShowSpawnInfo D3D_StartText For i = 0 to Array Count( SpawnableObj() ) If SpawnableObj(i).Used If Object in screen( SpawnableObj(i).ObjNum ) X# = Object Screen X( SpawnableObj(i).ObjNum ) Y# = Object Screen Y( SpawnableObj(i).ObjNum ) Center Text X#, Y#-40, "-= SPAWNABLE =-" Center Text X#, Y#-30, "ObjNum = "+Str$( SpawnableObj(i).ObjNum ) Etc. Etc. You don't call THAT programming? Hah! Stupid tool!
  • haha, you know it very well xD

  • Nicky: you must change load image "earth.bmp", 1 to: load image "your earth texture name", 1

Video: you can use roll commad to spin the object

    4/5

  • that didn't work for me

  • thx for this dude, was nice to sit down and watch a video then see somehting soo small do something pretty cool.

Hope to see more like this!

  • it says 'could not understand command at line 15' But ive done everything?

  • how do i save it to an .exe and not a dbp file

  • When you compile, to test or whatever, it will put an exe of your game into your project folder

  • does dark basic care about whitespace A.K.A gaps between lines

  • Nope, not one bit.

  • thanks for that. i know c++ and i like the fact c++ dont care about white space because you can lay your code out how you like it.

  • dude what kind of computer do u have

    please comment

  • This was made on an old 512mb ram, radeon 9250 computer. But now I have a Windows Vista Ultimate, 4gb ram and a Nvidia Geforce 9800gx2

  • Liky Why dont we just write " YROTATE OBJECT 1,OBJECT ANGLE Y(1)+0.2 LOOP "

TO be honest i tried to write what you did, but, it didnt worked, i got a parameter error.

    And this Yrotate Worked.

  • Can this be done on Windows XP or does all this have to be done in Vista? Also, does the Program come with a comprehensible tutorial? This looks like an awful lot of parameters to learn. But the results are amazing!!

  • This video was made on xp so yes It can. Yes the program comes with LOADS of tutorials, along with two volume books (in pdf format), this language is very simple trust me, easy as to make games, and it is on the BASIC Platform. Good day to you :D

  • i got error on line 22. this is my code for line 22 rotate object 1, object angle y(1) - 0.02

it says that rotate object does not match object number Xangle Yangle and Zangle. do u no what is wrong with it if so please reply

  • yes

  • why can't i turn it to an EXE everytime i press the EXE button i get an Complier error

(Installation and Complier Versions are incompatible)

    HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Are you running vista?

  • No you have to create a new project, This will create a new folder.

  • can´t load the texture.

  • cool

  • i get an error.

'Runtime Error 506-could not load image at line 14'.

    Here's my code:

    13 make object sphere 1, 100, 40, 40

    14 load image "Earth.bmp", 1

    15 texture object 1, 1

  • Make sure you imported the media correctly, and moved Earth.bmp into your project directory.

  • Thanks, you were right. I didn't name my image Earth.bmp.

  • What tool did you use to capture the screen?

  • Hey Rick, I used Camtasia Studio 5

  • Thanks Zipstacracksta for the info. I liked the way it zoomed in on the "action". I'll invest in a copy soon.

  • No problem, Its a bit of a pain having to pause every time you want to zoom in, but its worth it for a good tutorial.

  • Nvm i found it

  • hey thanks for the tutorial. It helps a lot. btw where did you get the earth pic?

  • No problem :)

  • might wanna zoom out at 1:00

  • Lol

  • And if you learn something from this, drop a comment to let me know
