  • The guy on guitar with Tommy has the hair but, that's all...Needs to spend more time practicing instead of washing and waxing that mop of a hair do

  • Awesome tone and phrasing Jack! Look at all you babies complaining about his hair!

  • I would actually watch MTV if they still played stuff like this.

  • :Q________

  • Wow, I counted 22 hair flicks from Jack Jones. Perhaps more off camera. I wonder how much of it ended up in his gaping mouth?

  • poco se save de este gran guitarrista en mexico aber a que les sabe esto

  • WOW !!! Amazing :) Thanks ...

  • 3:13 - his string broke. But how many fucks does he give? None.

All bow to the king of guitarists.

  • "I can't play the blues" - Ron Thal

...and some don't wish too. :-)

Tommy's great and Jacks hair is very clean and pretty, but this goes a long way for sure. Thank God for Muddy Waters, Ry Cooder, Blind Willie etc. to keep me appreciative of true Blues.

  • ...

  • he broke the string and didn't even make a mistake!!!!!! :O.....ok now I'm sure he is not human :D :D

  • musical ergasm! :D

  • Dramatic hair flip and constant drooling facial expression on the shampoo model is annoying. Particularly when he missed the dramatic intro: "ohh, Tommy lick, this is when the whole band comes in. I have to flip my hair in sync and show the world how cool and what a showman I am" - "here i go!" *hair flip *- silence. Tommy :" what the fuck man! We did rehearse. Your hair smell good though". I hope this horrible posing shit haunt him the rest of his life.

  • i really like the patituccy stuff on this song... usually i dont, but i dont know... somehow john makes that alembic rock in this one!

  • I always hate comments like: why dislikes .. and blabla...

but this time.. really: HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE THIS VIDEO??

     That is just impossible!

    TH

  • @dudeforlive some people just seem to have their heads up their asses!

  • Shit I wanna learn the intro to this.

  • @ecbfilms001 It's not that hard man, a couple of hours and you'll have it in the bag! It's E pentatonic with some slides, around the 2-5 frets.

  • I remember this. Tommy had 5 strings and still walked all over Jack.

  • @JuxExpress Yes - after 3:12 the broken string is actually visible. A true master..

  • The other guy is gonna have a sore neck tomorrow after all those hair flips.

  • kick-ass solo indeed

  • Awesome solo from Jack

  • u no eine wo soumässig cha gittärele

  • why didnt his guitar explode??

  • is that john Travolta?

  • Looks like he broke his B string during that one and still kept jamming.

  • this is why I play. this is real.

  • definately a broken string.,,you can see the glimmer and shimmer

    haha

  • i think what appears to be a broken string is actually the lead for the finger board camera, not 100% on that tho.

  • Check out the mighty showmanship on the longhair guy.

  • tommy's coming to my small town in february , its october and i'm thinking about counting down the days , maybe hours and minutes, lol.... before i get to see him.

  • is it stevie's blues like stevie ray vaughan's blues or something else? cause this sounds a lot like stevie ray vaughan.

  • @jimmyleppard6

it was a tribute by tommy emmanuel

  • @jimmyleppard6 This song was written by Tommy as a dedication to SRV. He said as much on one of the other clips on you tube.

  • Wake UP! MTV!

  • whose the other guitarist?

  • SRV was an amazing singer Guitarist and songwriter......... you are an amazing person yourself.............. thankyou !

  • @GodricThe You got that right!

  • What scales is the other guy using at 1:38

  • @318825768 when you get that good you don't have to think about what scale to use, you just play...and be awesome!!

  • @318825768 Sounds like Phrygian mixed with some chromatic tones for good measure.

  • does tommy have a broken string? or is that just extra hanging off?

  • @wyld49 He has a mini camera on his headstock; I think that's the lead going to his belt.

  • @wyld49 Its looking like a broken string, idk though

  • @snowbirddude Freeze around 3:37 I think he broke his B string

  • @Meursault86 Yes thats true :D And he dont stop playing :D

  • @Meursault86 Yes thats true :D And he dont stop playing :D and in 3:12 you can hear the sound of the breaking string :D

  • @MemeNatorius

I don't think hes breaking a string here man.

  • @BushyBrows301 So where do you think he did it? :D

  • @MemeNatorius

hehe, i watched a few more times and agree, he breaks the string!

  • jack hones was a good guitarist but stevie makes the pros look bad ; )

  • these guys r amazing; but you can tell long hair boy feels little nervous playing with

    such a god;

  • he broke a string he still can play in another tone so well

  • his tone sounds like god...

  • Comment removed

  • them aussies sure can play

  • Less hairplay and more practice and you'd be as good as the guy in the red suit!!! LOL....jus kiddin' kids!

  • wow! i love this stufff...

thanks very much for the uploads

  • Is it jus me, or does it look like he has broken a string last in the song? ... Do not misunderstand me. I am a hudge fan of him... Just noticed.

  • Yup, he broke it :)

  • omg this is sooooo sexy.... wanna make love to it!!!

  • Ma per caso gli è saltata una corda?

  • Saw Tommy CGP two nights last July. Night 1 he played all his pop arrangements and "high energy" stuff. Night two (it was 106 degrees) he took out a chair, and sounded like Joe Pass on the acoustic. He is just plain AMAZING! Remember, this video is 18 years old, and he is still performing NIGHTLY.

  • bloody awesome

  • makes john mayer look like a beginner.

  • John Mayer a good songwriter, but leave the Stevie Ray to Stevie Ray.

  • I've only heard him playing acoustic but damn I missed something...

Videos like that are the reason I love to spend hours on youtube...

  • @inchskater It is amazing how time flies while watching stuff here. I have found some amazing stuff though.

  • The lick at 1:37 - 1:42 was genius...who is that guy by the way?

  • @Ackoustic that my friend is the great jack jones from the band southern sons. he used to play lead and do bvs for john farnham... one of my idols... he was sooo under rated.... amazing

  • @mammers96 One of the best guitarists to ever come out of this country. You can see him now with Electric Mary. Awesome old school rock band, check 'em out.

  • my dad went to high school with him!

  • people who can't play the guitar usually would think popstars are the greatest musicians on the earth, but everyone who plays guitar and has a decent head on their shoulders knows that TE is the man!

  • TOmmy is down to earth guy who doesn't need lots of hype. Many many guitar players look to him for inspiration, so recognition isn't really his goal, inspiring others - and he loves to play, can't you tell!!!

  • blues king

  • Tommy is just the best. My only question is why he has not acheived greater recogmtion...?

  • maybe cus he's from "down under"?

  • WHo is the secong guitarist????

  • Jack Jones also from Austrailia

  • at a moment there i thought the keyboardist...? was Cher =P

  • jack was totally feeling that solo, I loved his fill-ins

  • holy fucking shit he is playing an electric guitar..

  • tommy is an awsome dude and a joy to watch,we all thought he was mad when he moved to melborne and wanted to play aucostic instrumentals, but as history has shown us he knew wat he was doin.cant seem to find earlier stuff of his carrer with gold rush tho.loved the bald head he had playing drums with sharon oneil, bet you didnt know that eh.he also played in red gum as well, his life is truly colourful to say the least, well grounded in country, auther blanche, genltleman goeff brown to name a few.

  • Why are you listening to this if it is a little above your maturity level ? K West is a little more at your level! He is a purplelippedcoon just like you !

  • wow.

    1991.. seems so old

  • Seems the string broke at 3:13 :P

Just shows what a fucking great guitarist he is!

  • yeah and he continues without it!

  • Woah, looks like tommy blew Jacks mind away...

  • Man... this is the first time I've ever heard of (far less seen 'Jack Jones').. if Mr Jones ever did have a mind I suspect it was already heading skywards at intercontinental 'speed'...

I thought they'd found and painted the dude from Deliverance!

Can't complain about his guitar playing - but he's seriously 'off his face'... if indeed it is 'his' - lol :)

  • Jack Jones can play a bit

  • back in the days when mtv showed good things not some fucking gangsta shit

  • god i love telecasters

  • Nothing short of 5 stars.

  • his string actually breaks at 0:38

  • 0:38? All strings look in place on the snake cam at 1:38 and I can't see any sign of the broken string till it flicks into view at around 3:11 right around when he switches to playing lower notes. You can see the missing B string on the snake cam at 3:40 definitely.

  • wow, he can still play blues to that level with a broken string? Genius and cheers for all the information

  • YEAHHHHHH TEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

  • And with a broken string as well. What a guy!

  • just diggin it.. how cool can he get!

  • This was the time when MTV showed good music!

  • What's on the head of Tommy's guitar?

  • I think its a 'fretboard camera'.

  • Ahhhhh, ou course, of course.

  • stevie RAY VAUGHAN BLUES

  • What's up with Jack's face the whole time?!?

  • Great stuff!!

  • Jack Jones is pretty good!

  • Tommy breaks a string

  • I know, but he just countinue playing as nothing has hapend, Tommy is amazing.

  • hey guys when did he break a string? if you go to 3:40 in this vid you'll see a nice closeup shot of the guitars neck it seems it has all 6 strings

  • ok sorry i seen it that time it seems to be the B string.

  • The other guy plays great Guitar and Tommy tries to be second Fiddler but ok, its Tommy :-)

  • batman001 - that's called a quality guitar....

Ofcourse Tommy is a lot better than the other guy, but he is good, too...and has guts to play with him, and it is very nice of tommy to play with younger guitarists...

  • The other guy is probably glad Tommy broke a string so he didn't show him up.

  • Atually Tommy did have a Fender Shop Signature Tele.

Check out his first couple of albums. Quite a bit of electric guitar there. LOL! It still has sx strings and a fretboard!

  • I LOVE the bit around between 3:00 and 3:20 where one of his strings breaks and he just keeps a straight face and keeps playing as if nothing happened. That shows a real good guitarist.

  • About that, I'm wondering how that didn't affect his tuning too much =\

  • he's probably got a tele with a pretty solid neck for starters. He could probably keep it in tune if it was out by bending the neck too. I love this era of Tommy.

  • Awesome song! Too bad its not a real hammond :( the keys sounds too "soft". But everything else is perfect!

  • ROCKING BLUES---WHOA!!

  • sta bre ne verujes teldza se cuje ko lud

  • ... perfection at its height! - Tommy is like Mozart in his early years of composing - if Mozart was alive today, I bet he would have embraced Tommy as his own younger blood brother! no doubt about it....

  • does he sing?

  • Jack Jones, the second guitarist, has a great voice (look up "Southern Sons")

  • LMFAO Bass Player

  • his digging allright ;))

  • Robbie Little on bass - one of the best bass players in the world. Still working in Melbourne, Australia.

  • Does anybody knows what model is the Fender Tommy plays?

  • As far as I know it's a 1966/67 Telecaster Custom with 3 Bartolini pick-ups.

  • Thanks :)

  • Is it anywhere to buy?

  • I don't know but I doubt it. You'd have to get one from that era and customise it yourself. I don't think Fender ever released a tommy signature to the public. Only Maton have had that privilege I believe

  • i dont think its a fender

  • It's tommy's signature Telecaster.

  • It is Fender:) Tommy plays Fender electrics in principle;)

  • actual more recently he uses maton electrics

  • channel420, your name says everything about you. Get stuffed you wanker.

  • got an strat but i prefer the telecaster here

  • mjjjiemazoo, your comments say more about you than about Tommy. Stop embarrassing yourself!

  • The Blues is a musical heritage meant to be played and felt by everyone, regardless of color.

  • agree!

  • He broke a string at 3:13 and you couldn't even tell if you weren't watching for it.

  • Dont think i would have noticed if you didnt mention it!!! Classic Basement Tape..

  • What a pro!

  • What can I say that hasn't been said...exept a;slkfjalf. Fairdinkum mate. I'd have to slip into 9 languages to dollie the idea up somewhat. What a muso. ( Oh sh8 I just soiled myself) ;)

  • he seems to have broken a string by around 3:24.

someone else probably noticed this, but still...

  • whoa, you gotta love tommy

    great musician

haha, I love the way the bassist humps his bass at 00:58

  • This must be one of the best blues jams I've ever seen. Every single note is right where it's supposed to be. This is killer, thanks for sharing!

  • TOMMY EMMANUEL IS GOD!!!!

  • CAMPIONE DEL MONDO!!!!!!!

  • when I first time heard him I wanted to stop playing the guitar because it hadn't any sense. He did everything what was possible (and impossible) with guitar.

  • You should want to pick it up and as Tommy would say,,"Get you're groove on"!!! And while your at play along with him!! -haha-

  • I try to play Tommy's music. It is very enjoyable:) You can believe or not but I was on his concert and I talked with him and i taked photos:) Very niece dude...

  • Well this is Tommy...Since the death of the master and teacher Chet Atkins, he became the god of the semi-acoustic fingerstyler. For him it's all rhythm and of course the independent "super-Thumb"!The clean, perfect and flawless sound..check out his dvd "Live at Sheldon,St. Louis" and you will be blown...

  • Jack Jones or now known as Irwin Thomas

  • tommey is to crazay u could break 5 strings and leave him with 1 and he would still play the hell out of it

  • the guy with the strat has gorgeous tone.

it's very eric-johnsen like and it fits well over the jangly tone of tommy's telecaster

  • man i thought you were about to sa y gorgeous hair before i read the tone part

  • Who was the guy on the Strat ... someone must know!

  • I think it may be Jack Jones. He is most known for his work in the early 90s band 'Southern Sons' if I recall correctly. Probably is him. Very good voice too, now that I remember.

  • Can't believe i never noticed that string break before, must have watched this 15 - 20 times :-)

The camera behind the nut shows it was the B string that broke, not E

  • Oh boy, are you serious? I`m Brazilian and I`d kill to go to Australia and watch one of his concerts!

  • I've watched TE live and can tell you that it is the best concert to date I have been to...and I have been to tons and tons of concerts in all genres of music. To see just a man, his guitar and loads of talent is something truly special.

  • I know this may be a stupid question... Was this song a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan?

  • In fact it`s a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  • Did anyone notice that Tommy Emmanuel broke a guitar string at about 3:27 in this video? And he still kept on jamming!

  • Ok...I just read the next page on this video and see others mention about his broken string....ooops
