good music. It seems to me, thst program of Jack McDuff is more various then thr program of another organist - Eddy Landsberg. Jack McDuff plays jazzrock, jazz sambas and certainly blues
Jack McDuff discovered George Benson while performing at the Crawford Grill, #2 at 2141 Wylie Ave. Pittsburgh PA. 15219. George had his own local combo, The Alltiers, who were playing across the street at Masons. The legendary Crawford Grill was recently purchased by a group of investors that include former Steeler football star, Franco Harris with intentions of restoring it to it's original heyday lustre.
thanks so much for sharing this. Great set, good sound, and the light on McDuff's face is just perfect. I love watching two old friends go back and forth on a good groove.
Fan-bloody tastic! Also benson disciple, but no benson without Messieurs McDuff and J Smith! Keep it up, no one seems to remember Brother McDuff these days...
I know Chris very well. I stay at his pad in NYC/Astoria when I leave KC. I'll be playing with Chris again soon. I guess his moving back to KC in sept. Whats you name so I can tell Everette?
Thank you. I play with a B3 player in KC named Everette DeVan. I started learning to play guitar by listing to Jack Mcduff cd's with george benson on them. I'm 27 and I never thought I would be able to visually see them play together. thank you thank you thank you
Thanks for all the nice comments. When I shot this I was off stage with a group of very enthusiastic people. Joey DeFrancesco was there and he kept stepping into my frame. I wish I could have been closer but thank Goodness I got what I got.
Thank you, Pete Fallico! Un-f-in-believeable! Finally, a great clip of Jack McDuff doing what he did best: swinging his ass off! Check out that monster pedal playing. What other clips might you be sittin' on, Pete?!?
i like Benson in his Straightahead Jazz days when he played with McDuff better then the water down Smooth Jazz Pop stuff.

Fantastic. The joy and affection between them is obvious, like long-lost cousins remembering their "chitlin" days. Top-shelf playing too!
