  • i like Benson in his Straightahead Jazz days when he played with McDuff better then the water down Smooth Jazz Pop stuff.

  • Me too

  • good music. It seems to me, thst program of Jack McDuff is more various then thr program of another organist - Eddy Landsberg. Jack McDuff plays jazzrock, jazz sambas and certainly blues

  • i miss the george of his early albums, it's nice to know he's still in there somewhere.

  • george is just way too experienced.. that kind of skill doesn't come over night.. and he's always got the best licks

  • not Ortliebs ... it was in a very large theater in Philadelphia (like a convention center)

  • was this at ortliebs?

  • You dont see George smile like this anymore he was hav'n a ball here.

  • Jack McDuff discovered George Benson while performing at the Crawford Grill, #2 at 2141 Wylie Ave. Pittsburgh PA. 15219. George had his own local combo, The Alltiers, who were playing across the street at Masons. The legendary Crawford Grill was recently purchased by a group of investors that include former Steeler football star, Franco Harris with intentions of restoring it to it's original heyday lustre.

  • Thank you - Eddie McFadden was there as well as Mickey Roker. It was Father's Day 1992

  • how lucky can some people get you where there jesus these guys are havin aball thanks for this

  • Volevo dire a proposito di Benson...

  • Thank you, oh thank you, thank you!!!!

Stunning footage - lucky you to have been there!!!

Benson/McDuff must be the best combo EVER!!!

  • Wow...Cap'n Jack and GB! Thanks for posting this one...wonderful! Man, McDuff was a monster....

  • thanks so much for sharing this. Great set, good sound, and the light on McDuff's face is just perfect. I love watching two old friends go back and forth on a good groove.

  • amazing, thanks so much for posting!

  • messagers come a go... but the message is always the same. Great post!!

  • Fan-bloody tastic! Also benson disciple, but no benson without Messieurs McDuff and J Smith! Keep it up, no one seems to remember Brother McDuff these days...

  • I am a Benson disciple, but pure respect for Jack as he helped make Benson.

  • You are welcome... Please say 'Hi' to Everette for me. He's a good friend and one of the GREATS! also, watch out for Chris Hazelton in KC!

  • I know Chris very well. I stay at his pad in NYC/Astoria when I leave KC. I'll be playing with Chris again soon. I guess his moving back to KC in sept. Whats you name so I can tell Everette?

  • Thank you. I play with a B3 player in KC named Everette DeVan. I started learning to play guitar by listing to Jack Mcduff cd's with george benson on them. I'm 27 and I never thought I would be able to visually see them play together. thank you thank you thank you

  • Everette's great. i need to go back to KC and see him again.

  • thanks man this is really a treasure! bless you!

  • You are welcome! I'll look around for more...

  • Thank you so much! I've been looking for video of Jack like this for a long time!

  • great!

  • Fantastic. The joy and affection between them is obvious, like long-lost cousins remembering their "chitlin" days. Top-shelf playing too!

  • Thanks for all the nice comments. When I shot this I was off stage with a group of very enthusiastic people. Joey DeFrancesco was there and he kept stepping into my frame. I wish I could have been closer but thank Goodness I got what I got.

  • Thank you, Pete Fallico! Un-f-in-believeable! Finally, a great clip of Jack McDuff doing what he did best: swinging his ass off! Check out that monster pedal playing. What other clips might you be sittin' on, Pete?!?

  • great!!!!!!!!!!

  • woooow this is soooo rare :-) thx for posting, youtube rocks

  • this is what I love about youtube! the videos I am waiting for day by day! GO GEORGE!!
