@twoshady518 I don't believe Stevie ever did sing it, out of respect for Jimi. Although he probably could have done it beautifully given his vocal ability.
We listened to this SRV back when his big brother Jimmy gave him a set at each Austin gig the Thunderbirds played. Stevie deliverd a blistering, awe-inspiring Jimi Hendrix reincarnation and we in the club knew it was our unique privelege to see SRV perform, as well as Jimmy's not-so-heavy, he's-my-brother requirement to give him the stage and his band for a half-hour or so... You wanted to cry, it was so beautiful and painful and natural.
@cuttervic SRV never reminded me of hendrix...different style, different genre, different musical age...Stevie was soulful, crisp clean and always in control; Hendrix - all psychedelia, unpredictable, pretty crazy and often got lost to the dismay of his band mates. Well, Stevie liked Hendrix’s songs and was impressive. So was Hendrix. Oh, and Stevie's got more Albert King (his greatest hero) in his playing than Hendrix
I cried when he died, right there in the office. I never saw him, but my wife knew him a little from his early Boston days. A true gentleman with a heart too big to hold; he put it in his guitar for us all...damn this is a great rendition! And my honey saw it the night they spoke...damn it still hurts like yesterday.
Theres just no compareing Stevie to Anyone else , he's in a class all by him self and thats a good thing everyone else sences.I could live out the rest of my life just listening to Stevie play anything ...God Bless SRV , we'll meet later!
I can never tire of listening to SRV..he was the best !!!! a friend turned me on to him a few years ago..went out bought all his CD's...I Love Srv <3.....Stevie is Jammin with Jimi and Gary in Heaven :)
jesus christ I've never heard this version but damn it is beautiful. SRV was soo flawless and in my opinion the best guitarist ever. My dad got me into SRV and has since passed away 5/2/11 but I'm soo glad he got me into SRV.. I love it !!
Stevie Ray, THE PRIDE OF OAK CLIFF......by 1979 his guitar playing was awe inspiring. Those of us lucky enough to see him before he was discovered in 1983 were wondering how somebody this great wasnt famous and was playing little 200 seat dive bars around Texas.

is it just me or would this be the greatest cover of all time if he sang it?

@KickstartMyHeart08 I prefer the instrumental keeping focus on the guitar. no one but Jimi should sing it in my opinion
