Few men? I sang with this group from '99-'01 we had 3 Tenors, 4 basses and 14 women, Which meant we got to enter some concerts with a lady in each arm!
I love this! I'm in the SCHS Acapella group right now. ^_^ It's funny because the madrigals did this song again. You guys have to realize that at this time, we didnt have a lot of male singers in general. XD so more male singers would be great in this song but we didnt have them. Hearing it done again in my madrigals at the same school with more than double this, it sounds a lot more balanced. (plus we got more amazing guy singers!) ^_^
Honestly this is the best performance of "Sing Me to Heaven" I have found on youtube. There are just TOO many HS performances of it on youtube and not enough professional choruses. There is a strident soprano in the chorus, obviously. The tenor color was too feminine (bc of the girl tenors). Rounder, matched vowels are needed for sure, which will help give the piece a warmer (albeit straight) tone. Overall, good job. Work some more!
That was really good. I'm going to assume to that this is a high school choir. Work on your vowel shape and breathe support. Singing through your noise will make the sound shrill. Try mixing up and matching voices, it works better for smaller choirs.
The over all performance was okay. The choir need more men because the women especially the sopranos were too loud. This song also has a lot of dinamics that you all didn't include it really got me boring because of the one steady volume. Also you all needed to round your tone up because it sounds like a little kid choir singing, but over all it was okay. Good job :)
There really weren't enough boys in order to equal the sound out. Some particular people stuck out-- there was a shrill soprano that should have more support in her diaphragm and should have warmed up more and a very loud boy who stuck out but wouldn't have if there had been more boys. The altos also sounded a bit youthful for this piece, but overall, great performance
the best preformance of this song ive seen on youtube yet. my chamber choir did this song last year and it sounds so much better in a small group. (mine was 21ppl) sopranos were a bit loud but everything was on pitch and your conductor took it slow (thank god) some other groups rushed and it sounds so bad that way. im totally faving this ^-^
I sang this song my senior year in high school with the ACappella Choir. It was amazing. You guys did an amazing job. Its not an easy song to sing! Great job tenors on those high notes!!!
WOW! this choir is phenominal... very few men, but sound really mature and create voices of about 10. we're singing this song in our choir, but you guys rock. I LOVE YOUR EMOTION.
Compliments to Triton Vocal Arts, this is one of my favorite songs and I am sure the audiences on your upcoming performance tour to Ireland will love it. Just wish everyone in the audience would have been well that day ; ).
Btw, my soon to born baby girl started kicking every time I played it - and that is good sing. She has great taste. Her other favorites are the San Marino Chamber Singers, CSULB, CSUSB, Schola Cantorum and Chapman University. Best from NYC, Sandra

One of the best HS recordings of this song. I think i will use it for an ACDA meeting.

Very nicely done. This is one of my all-time favorite charts, partly because of the beautiful overtones.

Sopranos usually aren't that loud.
Because, in one of my choirs I've been in, there were way more alto's than sopranos, and the sopranos still overpowered us.
When I asked my music teacher about it, she said that there's more frequency sounds with sopranos since their notes are so high.
And that's why their so loud.
Just thought it was an interesting thing to share :)
