Hi Patrick I'm 80 years old but still spry and nimble and have a banjo do you think I'm too old to play the banjo? I play a guitar and have for years but only for my own enjoyment and have always loved the sound of banjo music.
Keep going on what your doing your very inspiring and I'm sure to a lot of people.
Hello! 15 year old guy from sweden^^ I bought a banjo last friday and it's really hard. I need help, it's a five stringed tanglewood banjo. For playing bluegrass. I need to know if i should have plastic picks or metal.
Hi patrick i'm 15, i'm also from the uk and i have been playing the banjo everyday for the last 6 months, and well its been absolutely superb and i am catching on very quickly, there is 1 problem though, i have taken such a liking to the banjo i have decided to get a more expensive 1 tht will perform alot better, mine is around $120, so could you please make a video or send a message showing what you need to pay for a decent banjo. thanks in advance if you find the time.
Hello. I am visually impaired and just starting the Banjo. I've seen many videos of how to play cripple creek and I love yours. the only problem is that I can't see the chords very well. Could you make one with a closeup of yoru fingering? Thanks
patrick this is the only song i can play on the banjo but man your videos inspire me everytime i listen to them thank you and god bless the 5 string banjo all the way from good old england
Patrick, great video! I've been trying to learn Crpp;e Creek for a month with very little sucess. I was wondering when playing chords and frailing what strings do you play for the single string before the strum?
After watching your videos for over a year, I am taking the plunge and am crossing over from bluegrass to clawhammer. Thanks for these videos because they are super helpful.
Couldn't resit playing along to this - thanks for posting. Nice to see father and son together;my dad would have been tickled pink to hear me play my banjo, God rest him!
Just when I thought it was safe to begin to grow old gracefuly I happened upon your videos. Now at nearly 54 years old I am a trainee banjo player.Nice going Patrick,I love it.Thank you.

Have a look at the vid by 'dobro33h', probably on the list to the right called 'cheap thrills'. A few tips there. Also go to Patricks home page here and follow the links to his blog. There is a thriving learning community there , you are most welcome.
it's all your fault, now I have to fix my dear old kentucky grandpa's emporandor 5 string. he bought it in the 60's when I was a kid and he always played that song for me. it's been put away for allot of years due to devoting myself to guitar but now my 11 yr old got his first 5 sting so I have to learn how to play it with him. yep, it's all your fault. and HOW do you get ANY work done??? lol
I find all your songs are fine. However what I enjoy the most is the ease with which you give and teach, but most of all your enjoy your passion for music.
