  • Really well done!!! It is interesting that well-done traditional services have become more popular these days. I always thought the contemporary stuff was a bit of a fad anyway. My PC(USA) church even has the confession and absolution, along with fraction anthem!!! I grew up in a traditional UMC church, that became more contemporary, so it is a real treat now worshipping in a church that takes worship seriously, and does so with gusto. Our Taylor and Boody organ is marvelous.

  • "llanfair" is 1 of my favorite hymnal tunes, and yet is too simple, and thus i came up with a tune that is based on "llanfair", and my tune is a bit more complex and less repetitive. i recently switched from baptist to catholic because i saw that the 1 true xian church had to exist ever since the apostolic era, such that christ ordained the 11 apostles, who ordained more clergy, who ordained more clergy, and so on down to today. neither the protestant nor baptist sects have that

    kind of clergy.

  • @coventrygardens don't believe everything a narrow-minded priest tells you

  • @esreagan if you're trying to change my mind on this subject, you'll need to give me a bit more info. i think you're just making wise cracks, and your cracks aren't all that wise anyway.

  • awesome hymn for Easter. Thanks for posting this

  • thank you very much for this video

  • i am love the Hymn!!

  • Great hymn!

  • When the choir processes, and recesses, did you have them sing in unison, or parts?

  • Yes, I would have choirs sing in unison during the processional. Generally, we were able to reach the chancel by the 2nd stanza, allowing us to sing the 4-part hymnal harmonization for stanzas 2 & 3. I would normally play an interlude (with or without modulation) between the 3rd and 4th. The 4th stanza would normally use a free organ accompaniment ... with or without soprano descant. When I was especially creative, I would add a fanfare alleluia or amen.

  • Hi,Bob, from another Bob, a self-taught organist. That's a beautiful hymn!! I am trying to get permission to play the Cavaille Coll in Sainte Mary's Cathedral,Auch,France.I have dear French friends who live 20 miles east of Auch and I want to take them there and play this and other hymns on that magnificent instrument.Tremendous reverberation and blazing reeds!

  • hi bob really great to know there are still a few churches that keep the traditional hymns going.what denomination is your church? is there a website? how close is the church to the metro in Arlington would be great to attend a service.Best wishes and may God bless your ministry

  • thanks for another Wesley wonder

  • You're welcome! Glad you liked it.

  • Are those strings I'm hearing in the background?

  • Yes, I had four violinists double the soprano and alto voices, playing up an octave.
