  • You play this song very beautifully. I'm just starting to learn it. I will but congratulations!

    Erika - Prague.

  • @Vilana2

    Thank you!

  • i really like your tempo

although your rendition differs from others in tempo, supposed to be an andante piece,i myself think that you've shown the dialogues more clearly with better emotional expression

  • @wcp31

Thank you for your kind comment.

  • I want to play the piano like this.

  • i like a lot your tempo

many people play this piece too slowly and dramatically ignoring this composition should be a dialogue between two lovers and a stream of emotions..

but i really like your rendition!

  • @hinomusic

Thank you! I´m glad you say that, because it´s exact this aspect of dialogue I wanted to underline in my interpretation.

    Kind regards

    Andreas

  • Your tempo is a matter of taste and very suite for Duetto.

  • @mitzyoxo

Thank you. I´m glad you like it.

  • a bit too quick, but very well

  • @1972jewish

The tempo is a matter of taste, of course. Thank you for your comment.

  • Great work! I love Felix Mendelssohn, too, and it's very nice and lovely to put the couple's picture as the music going on.But,I have a little suggestion, you should put he and his sister Fanny, that would be better,I think :)

  • @noblechopin

Thank you for your kind comment and your suggestion. Of course, Mendelssohn had a very good and close relationship to his sister, Fanny, but this song he wrote especially for his fiancé, Cécile. So I decided to choose pictures of her and him.

  • @musicusblau Yes,I know that,he wrote this shortly after he met his future wife. You like Felix Mendelssohn, too? If so,we may chat by gmail,my gmail is nemo.gongzi@gmial.com Nice performance!

  • Great job! I love the slow tempo you apply to this piece. Many recordings out there are too fast for me.

  • @MgcMrMistoffelees

Thank you for your interest and your kind comment.

  • A really sensitive interpretation of this superb piece. I'm surprised by how slowly certain pianists take this. It's certainly not a criticism but perhaps you could afford to just linger a teeny bit in certain places. Well done!

  • @Podguzzle

Thank you for your interest and kind comment. I personally like the interpretations of Emil Gilel, Barenboim and Andras Schiff f.ex., who play it slower than me. I tried to find my own way of interpretation and play it a bit faster with less rubato. That´s a matter of taste, of course. May be next time I will play it with more rubato again.

  • @musicusblau Yes, less rubato. I just realize that this is a one reason why I love your interpretation. I like constant tempo and the strong affection that flows under a constant tempo.

  • @MgcMrMistoffelees

Thank you, I´m glad you like it so much.

  • Perfect my friend, very nice. If only more people would play Felix with this much feeling---so many pianists play his pieces too fast. You nailed it.

  • Thank you for your kind and encouraging words!

  • Bravissimo. Eccellente.

  • Thank you for your kind comment.

  • Very nice, I enjoyed your performance very much!

  • Thank you for your kind comment.

  • I've listened to so many versions of this song, and always been a little disappointed - either because of the pace or the interpretation. However, the way you play it is, to my mind, pretty much perfect. You have clearly zoomed in on the duet it's supposed to be, and one can really hear the different voices talking. Very well done. Thank you for uploading.

  • Thank you for your encouraging words! I´m very happy, if someone recognizes my intentions (here to bring out the soprano and tenor voice as talking to each other). Thank you for listening.

  • Just beautifull! This piece is so wonderfull! Nice video with the two persons showing the diferent voices. I really admire all of your playing and soft touch!

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I´m glad you like it. Mendelssohn wrote this piece for his fiancé Cécile, both you can see in the pictures, they are symoblized by the soprano and the tenor-voice in the song.

  • behoort zeker tot de mooiste uitvoeringen van dit stuk

  • Thank you for your kind comment.

  • So beautiful!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Very very beautiful rendition! One of the better ones honestly.

  • Thank you very much!

  • That was awesome! I think I've inadvertently stumbled across the most beautiful thing on the internet. Lucky me! :)

  • Thank you for the praise. I´m very glad you like it so much!

  • I'd like to second what horndiapason said and thank you for this video. My Mother used to play this when I was in bed upstairs and falling asleep so this brings back some very special memories.

  • Thank you for your kind comment!

  • Such a beautiful piece, and played with genuine depth and understanding, if I may put it that way. I blush to admit that I'm playing a pipe organ transcription of this piece tomorrow for the Prelude...and needed some inspiration. I certainly got it! Thank you.

  • Thank you for your kind and encouraging comment. I´m very glad to have been able to give you some inspiration. Thank you for listening and have much pleasure and success for your recital.

  • Just like the two lovers are singing right here! By the way, you play very well!

  • Thank you. I´m glad you like it!

  • To echo what swgreenandgold commented 2 months ago :S, I prefer this version over all the others YouTube has to offer. I've found recordings at double the speed and at half the speed ... I think the pace here is perfect. Very nice control of the melody, in volume and in keeping the pleasantly warm tone. I have nothing negative to say about this performance. It's wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Thank you for your encouraging comment. I'm very happy about such a positive feedback!

  • Beautiful interpretation and wonderful playing! I'm learning this piece also, and was wondering if you have any tips. Again, wonderful interpretation!

  • Thank you. Try to work out the voicing of the main subjects, soprano and tenor changing.

  • Very well played, nice piece, nice piano sound, congratulation!

  • Thank you for your kind comment!

  • Sehr schön, kompliment. :)

  • Es freut mich, dass es Ihnen gefällt, danke!

  • Very nice. I like yours the best of all of them on that YouTube page. Good that you don't play it too slow--that stretches out the "vocal" lines too much and makes the accompaniment predominate. Nice touch with the picture overlays, too.

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you for this wonderful interpretation! Ik vind het echt fantastisch mooi!

  • Thank you so much, Franco!

  • I played this at my grade 12 graduation a few years ago. It is such a beautiful piece. Still one of my absolute favourites. You played it very well. :)

  • Thank you! I´m very happy you like it.

  • Your performance is achingly beautiful. Perfect tempo, well voiced - bravo!

  • Thank you for your kind and encouraging comment!

  • you play very well. a bit too fast for my taste. you bring out the melody well but i can stil the hear the parts of the right hand that don't really need to be brought out. you know what i mean right?

  • Thank you for your comment. All the points you mention are a matter of taste, but I´m glad you like it in summary.

  • Muchas gracias por esta deliciosa interpretación. Es usted una artista muy generoso.

  • Thanks for the kind comment.

  • hey! I love your mendelssohn!! so beautiful!! five stars from me!!

  • Thanks for your encouraging comment!

  • That, my friend, was gorgeous. I could feel the love. And by the way his wife was beautiful. Lucky guy.

  • Thanks for your kind words. Yes,it must have been a beautiful love between them.

  • You're absolutely right on the issue of taste as far as the tempo. Even though it's a little fast for me, you play it exceptionally well. Have you checked out Emil Gilels version?

  • Thank you for this very interesting tip. I did not know this record until now. Indeed, a very ripe version of this piece. I like it very much.

  • Very, very nicely played but a little too fast. Very nice.

  • Thank you very much for your kind comment, homerboy488. Of course, the tempo is a matter of taste, but if you compare my version with records from great pianist - like Schiff or Barenboim f. ex. - I play it quite slowly.

  • Brilliant! I saw most of your videos and I have to compliment you on being a great virtuoso! You show how to interpret the classical music with heart and soul. Your play is full of great ideas, every note does have a sense! But you have great qualities as a filmmaker, too. Your own creativity gives your interpretations much originality and recognizability value! Keep it up!

  • Thank you very much for your encouraging words, which I appreciate very much, especially because I know, that you are a great young talent as a pianist, (film-)composer and a very competent musical-expert!

  • Thank you, Sandro, I´m glad you like it.

  • Well done! Also the visual duet is happily

realized. Very good your Mendelssohn, as usual.

    Congratulations and five stars.
