  • @RedTV8888:

I saw Citizen Kane when I was about 14, so when that White Stripes album came out, I was the super nerd who was insanely giddy over The Union Forever. I just synched them up (as best as they'll go)...quite fun. :)

  • @Schadenfreude24 have you seen the clip in the movie when they edit it to make it seem like he said it during ball and biscuit? just type in jack white awesome solo and its the first one. it is the most bad ass thing i have ever seen in my life

  • why did the cut the clip :(

  • there is a man and his name is monty burns

  • Rupert Murdoch is today's Citizen Kane. What a slimeball.

  • Old movies, including Citizen Kane, are terrible.

  • @iClassiqaL why??

  • Sure, I'm C.F.K. but you gotta love me!

  • This is the most perfectly staged, choreographed and photographed scene in what may well be the finest film ever made. Simply breathtaking is its imagination and execution.

P.S. Does anyone else see a connection between the character Orson Welles plays in Citizen Kane (supposedly, Wm. Randolph Hearst) and Rupert Murdoch?? The more things change, the more they remain the same.

To friends he's known as Monty but to you it's Mr. Burns!

  • Peanuts... in a bag... Wow!

  • Lisa Simpson is wrong there is a Cane in Citizen Kane!

  • this was originally ment to be shot in a brothel but it was to suggestive so they reshot it in his headquarters

  • The girl on the right is behind all the time

  • "I am not over dressed!"

  • The Simpons has parodied this film many times, especially when telling Mr Burns's life story.

  • waiting for the blue ray

  • @billthestinker If I'm not mistaken, it's scheduled to be released September 13, 2011 for a 70th Anniversary Edition. Yeah, look on Wikipedia & Amazon.

  • I love owning this film...Thank you for this ... I'm On the go... Citizen Kane.....

  • I have to say, I like Welles' style; it takes a lot of class to take what is at the surface a big "Fuck You" to Hearst and mix in an in-depth character study and a cinematographical marvel...and have it absolutely WORK on all three levels. No ugly special effects, no garish colors, just good old-fashioned ingenuinity, a powerful screenplay and fantastic acting.

Also, LOL at the fact that there actually is a CANE in Citizen Kane. XD

  • @abridgedfanboy Actually contray to popular belief, Citzen Kane has just as much special effects as the first Star Wars film released. Both films used their effects to compliment there respective stories. Today, effects are used for the sake of the audience.

  • @MartianTripod Well, I guess that depends on what you consider special effects, but about the only example I can think of is the snowglobe scene at the beginning; the rest is, near as I can tell, good ol' fashioned clever camerawork. Any other examples I missed?

  • @abridgedfanboy if you find the dvd with commentary by Gene Siskel, he describes the various artifical visual fx in the film. the budget for Kane was not as large as it appears. For all the large sets, tricks had to be used to convey size. During Kane's speech in the audiotorium for governor, there is no audience. It was only a painting

  • @MartianTripod commentary's by Roger Ebert, a great one at that

  • My reason's satisfy me, Susan!!

  • This movie really is every bit as good as everyone says it is, something rare in this day and age.

  • It just goes to show that you can buy everything in this life except real love.

  • oh but they are working on that...

  • The one on the far right always gets me.

  • 1:50...gets me every time. This is like the funniest scene in cinema history.

  • yes, it is.

  • @jlennon510 what? the guys stretching "kane" out too long? its really not funny at all. mildly amusing maybe, but you really need to get out more if thats so funny to you

  • THERE IS A MAN, A CERTAIN MAN....

  • And for the poor you may be sure

That he'll do all he can!

  • its Mr. Kane !

  • Such a wonderful film.

    Thanks for sharing, mate!

  • "You long-faced, overdressed anarchist!"

    "I am not overdressed!"

"You are too! Mr. Bernstein, look at his necktie!"

    Classic.

  • i too hope to declare war on spain some day

  • The way Orson and Toland used shadowing in this scene was ground breaking. This scene is shot in a very strange way because of the low angle shots. When Welles is jumping up and down with the course girls his head is almost touching the ceiling so that they could get that low angle shot hightened. Flawless film making and originality.

  • let's bring back the zither

  • Many thanks

  • Visually, Kane was decades ahead of it's time!

It's like a modern movie, traveled back in time to 1941!

  • Totally!

This is an awesome movie! Kudos to Orson Welles and the poster of this video!

  • 1:37 to 1:40

    That's great editing.

  • Great lines

  • One of the most brilliant movies ever!

  • according to the American Film Institute...the best. both in 1997 and ten years later...2007. not my fav, but i indeed give much deserved regard to its brilliance.
